Entry So everyone says...

That you can only lose weight for yourself.

I've had an epiphany,

Everyone is right!

but with an addition ..

Only when you're ready can you lose weight for yourself.

The reasons I have wanted to lose weight in the past haven't been very constructive .. to look great in a bikini, to show my ex bf he lost ... But now ..

I'm doing it because I want to be a different kind of person, not a different person just a different kind of person.

Someone who doesn't get winded after climbing the stairs, feels too tired to go to the park with her son, doesn't feel good enough about herself to go after her dreams.

I want to be confident, strong AND sexy.  I want to hold my almost 40 lb son in my arms, and not hurt my back.

I can't tell you how many magazines, articles online, diet websites and programs I've enlisted myself in, that say you want to do this, you have to want it for yourself, not someone else.  I feel like there have been two me's at war inside me.  The me who let her weight get out of control because it made her feel safe, and the rockstar screaming to get out.  The dancer who was never thin but made it work somehow.  I had rhythm everyone said, and they were right.  I don't want to be afraid anymore, so I'm not going to be.  For the first time in my life, I still did my workout when it was tough .. terrible day, a child thats out of control, insurance woes, family health woes, a seriously heavy period ..  I still did it even though I was dog tired and I didn't want to .. because I promised myself, and here I am sitting here freshly showered loving the small ache in my muscles, the endorphins are running through me and I KNOW I'm going to do it tomorrow, and the next.

It's a great feeling.
