Entry Do I have to?
Nov 10 2009 09:30

Do I really HAVE to get a cold NOW?  I've got that familiar burning and running in my nose that signals a cold coming on.  Yuck.  Going to take a dose of Airborne in the hopes of keeping it mild.  The kids have been eating oranges, so maybe they won't get it.

On a positive note, I got everything done yesterday that I wanted to get done.  The upstairs had a quick vaccum and mop, I cleaned off the counters in the kitchen and bathrooms, and cleaned the toilets.  It took me all day, but it got done, and boy, it feels nice!

Today I need to catch up on getting the laundry out of the laundry baskets and into drawers and closets.  Once I get that done, I want to start in on decluttering the master bedroom.  It is amazing how stuff just gets piled in there, until we have a tiny path to walk.  Of course, the computer and office stuff is in there, and it is not really that big of a room, and the only place to "hide" stuff when we have guests.

Maybe I'll find the missing library book.  If it isn't in our room, I'll have to call and blame the library, because there really isn't anywhere else it could be.  I've cleaned everywhere else, and to be honest, I've tried to check out a number of books on the shelf that were "lost."  They make a lot of mistakes.

I need to focus on doing "maintenance" activities first every day, then additional tidying once those are done, so I can keep what I have!  Mom helped clean the TV/playroom downstairs, so all we have to do is keep that picked up.  I'm feeling like having the tea party here might not be so far of a stretch.  And once the visitor line has been crossed, maybe I'll feel more comfortable having people over on a regular basis.

13 years of stuff I'm trying to get rid of and organize.  We had boxes of junk that we moved with us two years ago - didn't have time to go through it before we moved.  Amazing what you carry with you for years before you finally discover you don't need it.

I started weighing food again today.  I'm going to stick with it.  Hopefully between being accountable for what I eat and spending all day cleaning I'll get back down to where I was.  I really don't want to take the time and energy to exercise when I'm making improvements with the house.  If I exercise I tend to take the rest of the day off.

Part of my problem was that my parents' visit made me constipated, even with the Miralax and lots of water - stress does that to me every time - so I gained about 3 pounds over the weekend.  And then I ate really badly.  Yesterday I think I did pretty well though - only had three pieces of chocolate halloween candy (which is an improvement).

#2 is putting "At least" at the beginning of half her sentences.  Most of the time it even makes sense - sometimes not.  Kids are so funny when they are learning how to have conversations.  But after having heard it 50 times in a day, it becomes a bit tiresome when I scold her for something like jumping on the bed and she responds in a cheery voice, "At least I can not fall off."

And #1 has a very best friend in the whole entire world named Alyssa.  She loves Alyssa.  She talks about Alyssa constantly.  She wants to eat what Alyssa eats.  She wants to be picked up from school like Alyssa.  She wants to paint her fingernails like Alyssa (We have a rule against this for now - let her grow up slowly - but we'll see how long that lasts.)  To be frank, I am quite jealous of Alyssa, who gets at least 3 drawings a day in her honor.

Whatever happened to ME being the center of her world??!!!  I expected this in the tween years, NOT KINDERGARTEN!!

But then she'll bring me a "card", and it says "I LUV MOM," and it always makes me feel better.

Ooohhh, start taking your vitamin c tablets.  If you start early enough, it will make your cold less severe.

*fixes you a hot toddy*

Congrats on getting so much accomplished lately.

Kindergarten is awesome for bringing up some of the coolest wants in children.  Serena went through wanting her nails painted too.  She wanted red, I wanted none.  Compromise--clear with sparkles in it.  It only lasted until she had her first fight with BFF Brandy.  After that she wasn't ever painting her nails again cause Brandy did and Brandy was dumb.  *shrugs*  Worked for me until recently, but she's 10 now.

I hope you don't get sick and neither do the kids!  Have a great day.  :)

*sends over some clorox wipes*

Hope the cold doesn't last long. Colds are such a nuisance, but much better to have a cold than the flu. *crosses fingers for quick recovery*

I know we talk all the time about the cleaning and decluttering. But man, when you are stuck in it, it seems like that is all there is in the world. Just a bunch of clutter. Our bedroom is the same darn way. Its our junk room. Its the place that all the rest of the clutter gets shoved when we have company. We also have a small path to the master bath and a path around the bed. The rest is laundry (I always do the kids laundry first and usually run out of time for mine!), and stuff that we just haven't had time to get to yet. The decluttering is a constant battle. I try to concentrate on the downstairs. It is enough to keep that clean and picked up. I just run out of time for the rest of the house. Maybe someday! Good luck to you.
