Two days off and no money to spend

We have cable internet, but it doesn't have a wireless router, so we have two routers working the system.  My daughter's computer is hooked up to by wire and mine is wireless.  Until last week everything was working fine.  Not sure what happened to the connection, it says that everything is working fine.  I have a signal and connection, but nothing will load.

Not a hacker, I just click on the little signal and click their signal.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  It is working right now, but I don't know for how long.  It is raining here right now and it messes with the system.

Last night was hell at work.  I kept dropping things.  Dropped a jar of pimantos, broke a cup and I just blocked out the other two things.  Came home and dropped the container with the eggplant that I was soaking in salt water over night.  Broke that container and I liked it because it had a strainer that fit right inside of it so that all you had to do was lift the strainer and the water stayed in the container.  I didn't make my eggplant because I was afraid to drop the deep fryer while it was on.  I was looking forward to deepfried breaded eggplant tonight.  I blame it all on the full moon the night before.

Down to 165. Twenty pound in ten weeks. I am hoping to make it to 160 for the final weigh-in in two weeks. If I can do that then I will only have twenty five pounds to go. I am thinking positive, even though I am kind of freaking out about the fact that I now weigh one pound MORE than the first time I did a Biggest Loser contest and lost thirty pounds. Its kind of scary to think that this time I had to lose twenty pounds before I got to the weight that I started at last time! We're going to try to kick it into gear for this last two weeks. Not sure what that means really, probably exercising every day and skipping my nighttime snack. I really can't do too much more than I am already doing. It is just going to take time, but I really hope that alot can happen in this last two weeks.

I'm finally feeling better. Luckily the kids didn't get it (strep).

Today is a beautiful sunny day. I have yet to wear my winter coat and it is December! I think the snow and crappy weather is coming though.

I am almost caught up with the laundry from when I was sick. The house is a mess, but at least I don't have laundry mountain flippin' me the bird anymore.

The kids are having lots of trouble listening so I have been finding myself yelling ALOT. I suppose that the word "bellow" would be more fitting. I may be short and small (someday, when I'm ideal weight anyway) but I can sure YELL. Not something I am proud of.

Even though it is a beautiful day and I am feeling better physically, I still feel like opening up the window and yelling FU to the world. (nothing personal of course, to any of you, I'm just feeling like a *itch today). I will just settle with the memory of my daughter standing on the front porch when she was three years old and shouting to the the world...."You're PIZZA, People!"  Which was the first name that the kids used to call people.

I know that if I had had a chance to do the treadmill today, or a workout video, I would probably be feeling much better mentally. I am glad that I have reached the point where I want to exercise. Well, I may not WANT to do it, but I really truly know that it makes me feel better. That is something I am proud of. One step to a healthier life taken.

Internet connention is hit and miss right now.  For some reason the server doesn't want to allow the connection to work.  It says that everything is connected and then it bring up can't find page messages.

I can steal a connection from the neighbour, but the signal is weak and breaks up a lot.

Christmas shopping is done, ai buhleeve.  Just need to start wrapping now :)

We were invited to E & J's for dinner yesterday (k's surrogate parents, the ones who came to our rescue when the truck wouldn't start in the store parking lot).  It was their thanksgiving.  They had spent the actual day in Kentucky with J's family.  They got back this weekend and had dinner with J's daughter & family, J's sister and husband, me and K, another quasi-adopted couple and the thirty or so children between all of us ;) 

It was loud and messy and quite good fun.  I demolished my diet yet again, but am trying to not beat myself up about it, since I do get up every single day and work out.  I know I can afford a cheat meal a couple times a week, just a little bit of guilt is still there.

Bah. Chocolate cream pie is totally worth the guilt. Laughing

Anyways, they have two new kittens.  I almost stole the fat fuzzy gray one.  I'm pretty sure I could have snuck her out under my coat.  I restrained myself, however.

K ordered me Insanity from Beachbody for Christmas!  It looks like the kind of workout that makes you puke halfway thru!

Oh, and we got a Snuggie for Dad's GF for christmas.  Tiger striped.  Classy ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Have the sponge starter for a loaf of whole wheat Italian herb bread resting in the bread machine, am gearing up to make sage (turkey) sausage biscuits and gravy and have planned a non traditional evening meal of pan seared sirloin, dry roasted fingerling potatoes cooked with a pile of bay leaves that I will finish in the steak pan drippings, with a side broccoli or sauteed Brussels sprouts I picked from the garden yesterday....a simple yet lively red wine will accompany the feast.

We plan on spending the day cranking tunes while weeding through the filing cabinet, and leisurely packing non essential interior items... then we most likely will shag our brains out and put this day to rest.

Been reading "In Defense of Food" from my library.  It's a good read.  And I realize why I've been not getting enough nutrition - my skin's getting really dry, I am drained of energy, and staying up at night for no reason.  Even though I am eating a lot more (you'd think that more food=more energy/nutrients) and stopped swimming because of the temperature (you'd think my skin would improve).  But actually I realized it's because I'm eating all this processed junk and not balancing out my meals/snacks during my overeating.  It's been a heck of a lot of dairy and/or sugar or a heck of a lot of fats (although they're healthy!).  I'm going to quit buying so many ready-made foods and go back to my old habits of minimally processed foods.

This is what I was eating at the beginning of the semester that was minimally processed:

  • Fresh produce
  • Frozen seafood
  • Fresh meat/offals
  • Dried beans
  • Oats
  • Rice
  • Milk
  • Dried spices, soy sauce, vinegar, cocoa powder
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Eggs
And the most processed food I had was:
  • Whole Wheat Bread (Oroweat though, which has decent ingredients
  • Frozen produce (for when fresh produce did not go on sale)
  • Occasional cheese
  • Occasional popcorn
  • Occasional canned fish
  • About 4 lbs of lunchmeat until I realized how full of nitrates they were
  • Tofu
  • A box of cereal
  • Occasional 85% chocolate bar
Every day I would have balanced breakfasts of 1.5 grains, some fats, 1 dairy, and a serving of meat.  For meals I had 2 grains, 2-3 servings of veggies, 1 serving of meat, 1 serving of dairy, and a few oils.  And a snack or two of fruit, fats, and popcorn.  And several days of alcohol, lol.
But after I decided to purchase some Skinny Cow and GreenMax powder, all went downhill, lol.  Ate a bunch in one sitting one night.  Then ate a lot of cheese in one sitting another night.  Then ate a lot of nuts.  Then an entire can of fish.  Night after night.  Processed is processed, I guess, so I just ate a TON of the skinny cow and greenmax.  Then it led to restricting of one type of group after eating too much of it, and it just led to too much eating of another food group.  I didn't have proper meals for a week because I was afraid I ate too much of one group, and skipped it in my plan for the day, or allowed it minimally.  Although I technically had the correct amount of nutrients, the food groups were out of whack.
In Defense of Food showed me that I need balanced meals.  And it's not all about the nutrients, so popping my vitamins is not going to cut it for my Vitamin Bs.  I'm so glad I checked this book out while I had some spare time in between classes!  I got back on the wagon yesterday with maintenance calories, and I'm ready to lose the 3 lbs of binging I put back on with a targeted calorie total of 1600-1800/day.  Yay!
