10/23 WOL

I decided to change my October goal from 100 miles to 50. It was a little over-ambitious because this month is full of STUFF! Even with the goal of 50 miles, if that's ALL I do I still average running 1.6 miles every day. Next month I'll just increase it to 75 miles because I have a 5-day shoot and a bunch of other special events. 75 miles will I think be a challenge with all of the events I have to participate in so that will make me feel good to push myself :)

I started lifting weights again today rather than just running. I still have MONTHS to go until my race (I may look for a 5k to participate in before then though) and since I have been/will be so busy I think I'll get a little more bang for my buck if I also do some lifting.

today's workouts

4 miles on treadmill

3 sets/10 single-leg leg lifts with 20 lbs.

3 sets/10 leg press with 50 lbs.

.5 mile walk with dog

Veg*n-ism

Yesterday I realized that I'm more or less a lacto-ovo vegetarian. This kinda freaks me out because I LOVE meat and I was raised on ranches and hunting lodges, so it's a weird mental thing for me. I go for days without eating meat sometimes. I guess this all started when I completely went crazy this summer and went from "meatatarian" (lol, the Wendy's commercial) and eating meat 2-3 times a day to raw vegan for a couple weeks (I had been eating way too much protein/fat for my activity level at the time and did this to "detox" in a way). It's like I'm afraid to eat meat as much as I'm afraid to be called a "vegetarian". I dunno...it's one of those weird mental blocks I've got to get over.

Ugh, point of the whole realization is that I seriously need to be eating MORE meat. I run/workout way too much to not be. And my carbs are SOOOOO high everyday! It's not that I think carbs are "bad" at all, but I NEED more protein that isn't also a carb. My percentage of carbs daily is sometimes like 70%! I just don't think it's that healthy to have a diet that is that unbalanced (even if I do get a b+ grade most days). Right now I'm just trying to get enough protein in GRAMS, not percentages so maybe I need to get a protein supplement?

Man am I Sore!

About a week ago, my running/workout habits changed a bit because I started running longer distances and longer amounts of time. My body must still be getting used to it because I'm sooooo sore after every run. Really, the only way to be less sore is to be consistent with running longer distances (those few days I didn't run at all didn't help hehe).

Today's Workouts

4 mile run

.5 mile walk with dog

10/19-Back on the Running Bandwagon

So I took a couple days off because my boyfriend came over for the weekend. The first night he was over, we binged like crazy! But it was soooo good. Started off eating green chile I made, then got the munchies for chocolate. Headed over to Sunflower Market and got a triple fudge cake, carton of whole milk, chocolate milk, and a pint of ben and jerrys. Ate some of that, then made sandwiches made with toast, scrambled eggs, insane amounts of bacon and cheese. We were so full that it hurt to even lay a hand on our tummies lol I don't regret a single bite, though :D

Since I've been so busy this past weekend with my boyfriend, then I had to go help my family bail my cousin out of jail so I haven't run for about 3 days. I ran 5 miles today, so I feel like I haven't done so bad.

10/14 Workout Log, Etc.

Yesterday since I completed a goal, I was supposed to have a "treat" for that which was supposed to be Starbucks. I seriously can't justify spending the money on Starbucks right now! lol, that's something I can only justify these days if I'm travelling and don't have my own epsresso maker like I have at home lmao! So I picked up a little snack from Sunflower Market, a bag of crunchy regular peas and a bag of wasabi peas. I only got the wasabi ones because my bf loves them, but I tried them to compare them to the regular ones we get in a can and these ARE SO FREAKING GOOD! haha, so that was my treat :)

Ran to the gym yesterday. Quickly ran back because someone was in there :( I hate working out with strangers. And the fact that the gym only has one treadmill and that's usually the only thing anyone wants to use discouraged me as well. Because of only logging 1/4 mile yesterday, I'm gonna do an hour on the treadmill to try and get my miles up!

Annnnddd...I'm pretty much sticking to only running this month, trying to build my endurance and such.

Today's Workouts

.5 mile walk with dog

2.7 miles on treadmill (cut workout short, the maintenance guys were in there putting a new tv in and they were enjoying the "free show" a little too much!)

10/12 - Completed a Goal!

Today is the first time I've EVER been able to run 2 miles effortlessly! This is HUGE! It makes me feel as if 10k is gonna be completely attainable! I could have gone futher even, but I was feeling quite sick and didn't want to push it (I ate Taco Bell like CRAZY yesterday! Wow, 1/2 a burrito, 1/2 a crunchwrap, a volcano taco and an order of cinnamon twists!). So I ran the two miles right off and then jogged/walked the remaining one mile of my workout.

Today is also and almost-perfect food day, as well! Could probably use a little more protein today, but with the awesome just chilling out in bed I've done most of the day it's probably not a prob lol.

I also finally upped my cals from 1600 to 1700. It was hard to get up to 1600, and then I started eating BREAD again lol! So now I'm gonna work on getting 1700. Of course, I modify how much/what I eat based on what I'm doing that day, but it's good to have a good minimum goal. Also, I have a shoot coming up in early November, so being a little "extra skinny" is gonna be alright temporarily. Haha, especially since right after the shoot it's THANKSGIVING and my boyfriend's bday which are both big food days :)

TODAY'S WORKOUTS

3 miles on treadmill

22 miles down, 78 miles to go! And 21 days to do that all, too...it's definitely not gonna be a piece of cake either with all of the things I have scheduled in October, but I think I'm gonna be able to do it!

I've been doing great lately about getting enough calories (ok, maybe not enough, but I've been hitting my goal of 1600 a day up from 1200 about a month and a half ago). I need to eat bigger breakfasts! I think it may be time to introduce BREAD back into my life Yay! Nothing like a nice buttery piece of toast straight from the Hello Kitty toaster!

It's another cold day in a LONG string of cold days to come. Buffy and I just ran around the park today instead of going on a walk and she was freezing! Time to bust out the doggy sweaters!

2.5 miles on the treadmill

So I drank almost 1/2 of my calories yesterday in wine! That would be a whole bottle...oooops! Actually, it was completely intentional and I LOVED it! Yesterday was a milestone I've been waiting to celebrate for 6 months so I indulged ;) and barely went over my (too low anyway) calorie limit! Could have used TONS more fiber though .

But yet again...bad on the tummy so my workout wasn't so intense today. And it's COLD today so I didn't walk Buffy as far and probably won't walk her too much today at all because we both hate the cold! The only thing the cold is good for (mind you, cold not SNOW because snow is good for lots!) is running outside all bundled up (which I will not drag the Chihuahua out to do lol).

Today's Workouts

3 miles on treadmill

3 sets/10 front pull downs, 20 lbs.

3 sets/10 bench press, 20 lbs.

Late night treadmill: 2 miles

Yay my tummy feels better! I knew it would just be time, so I'm happy! And the high-heel-induced ankle injury is completely healed as well (went from limping home and having to ice it immediately to forgetting that it was even hurt :)). Today was a GREAT running day, too! Ahh, lots of exclamation points lol

todays workouts

.5 mile walk with Buffy Bufferton (the dog :D)

4 miles on treadmill

Tummy Troubles :(

So it's just a fact of life that when I party, I PARTY. I don't do it that often, maybe one blowout crazy time a month...maybe two if there's an occasion but this last time took it out on my tummy bad. No throwing up or anything like that (no hangover type stuff) but I've had the ulcer-y burning feeling in my stomach since Sunday morning. It's actually probably a combination of the bad stuff and the stress of the weekend (I got my first stress ulcer at 18, fun stuff =/ ) but it's just lasting SO long.

It kinda sucks to be running and have this burning stomach. It actually really sucks because that's one pain I cannot tolerate when I run and I get really scared that when I go to run The Bolder Boulder, halfway in I'll start getting that intense pain and not be able to finish.

So I've been trying to eat really cleanly, low acid, no spicy stuff. No citrus or my former beloved Tabasco. I CANNOT give up coffee though. I'm sure that I'm aggrevating my condition with the coffee so I try to drink plenty of water with it and I always use lots of milk (which seems like it helps?).

Anyways, it'll be nice to not really do anything this weekend but work and workout since I've spent the last 3 out of 4 weekends partying like a rockstar haha.
