Still here

Well, I thought I'd take a moment to just say I'm still here. No, sadly, I haven't been logging my food, therefore, I've put a few pounds back on. I'd say I'm at about 152, which I'm not thrilled about but at this point, I'm just trying to maintain through the holidays and then attack again in the New Year. I've still been doing well with workouts. I had to cut back on my running since my marathon due to some knee issues but I think that's doing much better now. Maybe I'll attempt a longer run this weekend (6-8 miles - we'll see). Anyway, my son is back at swimming lessons so the past 2 nights I've been able to swim laps while he has his lessons. Unfortunately, a good portion of the time was spent wrestling with my goggles. Not only did I break the strap on my goggles, but also my daughter's goggles. So now I need to head to a sports store to replace both goggles. I hate dealing with goggles. They never seem to fit right and water always comes in as I'm swimming and there's no way I can go without them as I wear contacts while I swim. I could also use a new swimsuit. Ughh. Maybe a nice tankini made especially for lap swimming and not lounging on a beach. It's just not the season for swimsuits in Connecticut so it's going to be difficult to find now.

On another note, going to cut down our Christmas tree this weekend. Cannot wait! I love this time of year. I will bake a nice big batch of chocolate chip cookies to bring along with us and some jugs of hot chocolate. Yumm!!! We go with my sister and cousins and take a hayride out to the Christmas tree fields. So much fun!!! Come home, put up the tree, maybe have a nice pot of stew in the slow cooker and a glass of wine. Maybe mulled wine - even better!!! Yeah :)

Have a happy everyone :)

My first marathon

Yippee!!!!!! I did it!!!!! I finished my first marathon on Saturday in 4:33:55! I placed 1494/2287 overall and 75/132 for my age group. It may be hard to believe but it really was a lot of fun. I ran with the 4:30 pace group and only fell a few minutes behind them during the last few miles of the race. It was a great day for running - overcast but no rain and in the 60's. The course was mostly flat except for the last few miles where there were a few hills. And believe me, after 22 miles, the very last thing you want to see is a hill. But I ran up every one of them. Was so very happy to see my husband and kids cheering for my along the route and was thrilled to see the finish. Still feeling a bit sore but that will pass. May even run a 4 mile race this coming weekend. Still have to pick when my next marathon will be. Maybe I'll run another half before tackling another full. We'll see...

5 days to go...

So, I haven't lost the 5 lbs. I was hoping to lose by now but I am down 2 lbs. which is astounding because I was at the Big E yesterday and ate a lot - cream puffs, clam chowder in a bowl, fudge, chocolate chip cookies, a bit of flatbread, and, believe it or not, chocolate covered bacon. Not bad. Not really good either, but not bad. Bad for you though.

Five days until the Hartford Marathon. Very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marathon Training

Ran 22 miles yesterday. Ouch. Felt great for about the first 15 miles, then felt a bit tired and slow for a few more miles and the last 2-3 miles were just painful. This is my longest run before my marathon which is now less than 3 weeks away. A bit nervous but very excited and cannot wait to cross that finish line.

I'm still here

ok - I confess. I haven't been logging my food and my scale reminds me of it every day. I've been hovering around 150. I'd still like to get back down to the 130's. It was nice down there but I haven't been able (or willing) to start logging the food again and I know that's what I should be doing.

My exercise routine is fantastic though - and grueling! I have my first full marathon three weeks from tomorrow. Training has been ok but these long runs can be killers. On Sunday, I'm intending to run 22 miles! That will be my longest run ever and the longest run in my training leading up to the marathon. I've done two 20 mile runs which went ok so hopefully all will go well this weekend too. I can't wait to cross that finish line!! (Please, oh please, God, let me cross that finish line)

So, anyway, that's my story. I'm still here and hope everyone else is doing fine!

Yeah

I made it through today with a 600 calorie deficit - yippee!!!! Now, what are the chances that I'll be 18 lbs. lighter on the scale in the morning? I know, it's not gonna happen but a girl can dream right? At least I'm back on this wagon :)

Here I go again...

Ok, here I go again. Was off the wagon (AGAIN!) and even stopped logging my food because I was doing so poorly with my eating but now I'm back up to 150 and I don't like it one bit. Have to get it all back under control.

Had a great weekend camping with the family though. Ate lots of s'mores and other junk but had lots of fun hiking, fishing, playing with the kids, swimming, etc. Another vacation coming up in 3 weeks in Rehoboth, DE, so I need to lose a few before that adventure.

Marathon training is going pretty well though I didn't run over the weekend while we were camping - ran 13.5 miles on Friday before the trip. I guess I'll run about the same distance next weekend and the following week I have to up it to 16 miles. I'm a little nervous about my really long runs that will start in about 4-5 weeks when I'll have to run 18-20 miles. The furthest I've ever run was just under 18 miles and believe me, you are sore after running that distance. Hoping my body holds out.

Hope everyone is doing well with working towards their goals.

Half Marathon

Ok, so my diet is still kind of in the toilet bowl but I do have some really great news to report. I ran my first half marathon yesterday. Yes, that's right - 13.1 miles! I finished in 2:04'39 (chip time of 2:03'34). I finished 1339/2593 overall and 70/184 for my age group (females 40-44). My pace was 9:31. The weather was great and I felt fantastic throughout the entire run. Very sore afterwards but also felt very accomplished. It was wonderful!!!

Next step - Hartford Marathon in October!

Going the wrong way

I'm doing just terribly with my eating lately. It's awful. I'm so ready to start over again and cut out about 90% of this sugar I've been eating. I know that once I cut it out for just a day or two, I won't crave it anymore and I'll be ok but it's just getting started again that's getting in my way. Tomorrow we have a birthday party and then Sunday is Father's day (I know, it's always something) but I really do plan on getting back to it all on Monday. I need to get back to the 130's. I feel so bloated and fat - I don't like it at all. I know what to do, just have to do it.

Continue to struggle

This all seems to be an ongoing struggle for me. I got down to 131 the day before my Florida vacation and haven't seen it since. How sad. I went up into the 140's after vacation, got it back down to ~136 and then went back up into the 140's after Memorial Day weekend. Yesterday I was 144 and today, after a good day yesterday, came back down to 142. I think I'm going to start documenting my actual weight on my profile page again in order to keep better track of it and myself.

I continue to do a really great job with exercise and running which probably explains why I'm not as big as a house right now. In fact, I ran a 5K this weekend in 25'45" - an 8:18 pace and finished 190/598 - 13/82 for my age group (female 40-49). My fastest race ever. I have my first half marathon in less than 4 weeks and I think if I can lose these 10-11 extra pounds before then, it will really help me run better in the race. Anyway, 10-11 lbs. is a lot to lose in 4 weeks but I'd be happy to get back around 135 or so by then.

If only I didn't love food and sweets so much. It's kind of tricky because I think all my extra running and training makes me hungrier and then once I start eating, I have a hard time stopping. And I love to bake. Right now, we have home made carrot cake cookies with cream cheese frosting, Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookies, and a Banana Nut cake in the fridge. I thought about bringing the cookies with me to the Y but then I realized it's a nut-free facility so that won't work. I packed a bunch of them up to bring to a friend's house tomorrow and stuck some more in the freezer. I hate the thought of throwing them away and wasting food.

Anyway, today, so far, has been a good day. I'm at less than 800 calories right now and plan on having lasagna and a piece of the cake for dessert and that should keep me below 2000 cal's for the day - which is my goal right now.

By the way, it's National Running Day, so don't forget to get out there and RUN!! Have a great one everyone :)
