Entry What a wild few weeks
Apr 12 2007 10:30

I am finally getting back with the program after a bout of having the blahs.  I have spring fever so bad and the weather is not letting me get things done that need to get done.  Oh well, I have come to realize I just cannot fight Mother Nature and win.

As far as my own personal program I am still behaving and eating well.  The weight has not seemed to vanish an any big measurable amounts but I am loosing a few inches here and there.

I have started going to a local fintess center and working out daily.  I am even lifting  a few light weights.  I call lifting weights my girly man weights because they are only 4 to 6 pound weights. lol  I did get a blessing to lift weights but only if I do not exceed 6 lbs.  So I do a lot of reps with the light weights.

I still walk a minimum of 1 mile daily and most of the time I walk 2.5 miles.  My activity level is up but the weight according to the scales is hanging on.  Maybe someday it will decide to hit the road but until then I have nothing but time.

Hey, got to hit the gym so will close for now.

Until next time,

Roy

Entry Hello April. I am Back!
Apr 01 2007 11:20

Hello April, and what a beautiful day.  The sun is shining and it is a great day to be alive.

Well, where to start?  I made it back from Destin yesterday and the trip went well.  We all had a great time and I especially had a great time.  The weather was perfect and the crowds were next to non-existant.  This was a perfect time to visit a Florida hot spot.

Now, what I did not do.

  • Think about my boat's problems
  • Exercise (Work out room was closed until Apil 1st)
  • Eat properly
  • Worry about any problems what so ever
What I did do.

  • Had a wonderful time with the family
  • Ate seafood daily like a starving hog. (darned shrimp was out of this world!)
  • Drank adult beverages DAILY! (First time in a long time since I took part in this activity)
  • Rented a boat for a couple of days and had a ball and just relaxed soaking up the sun.
  • Visited with family
  • Absorbed all the compliments about my weight loss and ability to get out and about
  • Had to use the big stick now and then....lol
  • Gained a whopping 12 oz's ( Worth every ounce!)
Today I am in the recovery mode and just plan on being lazy one more day.  Tomorrow I will be getting back with the program full force.  I did not make my 10 pound goal for the month of March so life will have to go on.  A new monthly goal is now in order the the month of April.

Current Stats:

  • Start weight:  269
  • Current weight as of this morning:  231.8
  • Goal for the month of April is 10.8 lbs.  Bringing me to 221 lbs.
  • 37.2 lbs have hit the road since 0/14/07
Will have to see what happens.

Well, I got to go and do my last bit of being lazy and getting ready mentally for tomorrow.  Thanks for all the comments while I was gone.  You guys are crazy and I love that. I am fortunate to have you all as my friends here on CC.

I am back!

Until next time,

Roy

Entry In Destin
Mar 27 2007 17:41

Well, I am in Destin and having a great time.  My diet has been mainly liquid to date but I am sure I am pushing the envelope as to my calorie Count.

It has been rough but I did have to break out the big stick a few times and I keep it with with me all the time.  It is a burden but  it has to be done. lol

I will give a full report at a later time.  I have to go now.

Until later,

Roy

Entry Pulling my hair out by the roots
Mar 22 2007 16:15

It has been a wild week for sure.  I talked to my attorney about pursuing legal actions on this joker over the raw deal on the boat and because I am out of state the cost would be too much to fool with.  He is a young kid 27- 30 years old and I am sure even if I do win a legal action it would be like getting blood from a turnip.  My only recourse is to order the parts needed and roll up my sleves and break out some of my talents I have not used in years and fix the thing.  I can do it  and it will save me about 3.5K in dealer labor cost.  I have too much money invested to use the boat as a doorstop or paperweight, and the darn thing would make a lousy anchor because it floats!  I will order the parts on line tonight so hopefully they will be here in about 15 days.

I guess the days of doing fair and honest business on a handshake are long gone.  Oh well, lesson learned. (Trust Nobody!)  I can not understand how someone could actually rip someone off.  I can honestly say I have not, and would not do that to anyone.  If my children learn nothing from me I hope they at least  pick up that attribute from me.  Oh well......

After thinking and sleeping on cancelling the Florida trip we decided to go ahead and take the trip anyway even if it is without the boat.  The kids are looking foreward to it and it is their spring break vacation.  My wife needs a break and I need a break as well.  Hopefully I can put all the past weeks issues away for a while and have some fun.  I am lucky that there is two military Recreaton centers near buy where I can rent a boat for a couple of days at a low cost.  I guess those military benefits do come in handy now and then.  We will be leaving Saturday morning at O Dark Early around 2AM.  I seem to make much better time driving at night plus the kids sleep for a while.

On a brighter note I am 2 lbs from my monthly goal of getting rid of 10 lbs for the month of March.  I am still hitting the treadmill to work off stress but not eating up to snuff.  I got to work on that.

I have to tell you I miss getting in here everyday.  It is great therapy.

Well until next time,

Roy

Entry Classic Friday
Mar 16 2007 07:58

I woke up this morning to a dead computer.  The darn thing is dead and will not stay powered up for some reason.  I am now working with my laptop, which I hate. I cannot get used to the keyboard on this thing.  I do not have the correct cable to hook up my main keyboard so I will have to fix that problem today.  I have a good friend who owns a computer sales and serice shop so I am going to have to make a visit to see him today.

The scales did not show any progress this morning.  I kinda expected that.  Hopefully in a day or two it will move a little lower.  Nothing but time, nothing but time.

Tomorrow is the big day.  Pick up the boat in the morning.  I cannot wait.  I have a lot of things I need to do before heading south to Destin.  I got to get the oil changed in the truck, service the boat to make sure everything is ship shape, buy a spare tire for the trailer, stop mail, register the boat, pack, make arrangments for the dog, and get my computer fixed just to name a few items.

I cannot forget, I need some new clothes!  I can not go down there with my butt hanging out because my pants are too big.  I am not into the plumbers crack thing.  Whew, there is always something to do.  I am just so happy I am now able to do them....

Today's objective is to stay th course.  Maybe do some extra time on the treadmill to work off some of my excitment about tomorrow.  I may even pull one of my kids tricks and hit the sheets early so tomorrow will get here sooner. (At least that is what  I tell them on Christmas Eve)

until next time

Roy

Update: 10:19

I forgot I have a 5K run tomorow. (Not planning on running but will walk)

I am supposed to pick up the boat....Well......lets see...(scratching my head)............Pick up the boat that is 143 miles away or do the 5 K thing.....decisions, decisions....(tapping fingers)......thinking, thinking, thinking even harder now..........................

OK it is settled........going after the boat.  C-ya!

Until next time

Roy

Entry Rain, Rain, Rain
Mar 15 2007 07:37

Good morning Thursday.  Rained all night and seems to be going to rain the rest of the day.  Now if the rain was not bad enough the temperature is dropping as well.  Good Ole Southern Ohio, never a dull moment in the weather catagory.

On a more positive note, another pound has hit the road.  According to my log and just the basic math of weight loss it is now taking 3-4 days to get rid of a pound.  At this rate I may not be able to hit my monthly goal of 10 pounds a month.  If I do not make it no big deal.  I am in this for the long haul and I got nothing but time.  I will keep my goal at the 10 lb mark for a month or two and if it looks like that is unrealistic I will adjust in a few months.  The fact is I do not see anyway to reach this months goal before going to Fl. on the 24th.

Where we will be staying does have a fitness center and internet connection.  I will hit the center daily.  Thats right, eventhough I am on vacation I am making a commitment to still exercise and check in now and then.  I commit to still making journal entries and logging exercise and weight on this site.  I will  give full reports on the happenings and progress.

I have been thinking about my lifestyle change and reading a lot of post lately.  Making a lifestyle change is not easy to do.  It requires desire, commitment, and persistance to stick with it.

I have noticed in the forums many start off with good intentions but seem to fade into the background never to be heard of again.  I wonder if this could be that this site does not offer any magic pill or a plan for rapid weight loss?  It is hard to make a lifestyle change for the better.  I am so glad I have CC friends who have made the commitment to stick with their plan and those same friends are there to push me along as well.  Got to love the CC community......

Note to self:

  • Keep desire:  Must want to do this
  • Commit:  Stay committed No letting up
  • Accountability:  I am responsible for my actions good or bad
  • Make a plan:  Make a plan and stick with it.  Change if needed
  • Follow Plan:  Need  I say more
  • Keep tracking results:  Have goals and track results
  • Follow through
  • Add exercise and mix it up
  • Keep calorie count the same. Do not give in to temptation to cut calories
Until next time.

Entry A few Pictures have been added
Mar 14 2007 08:01

I finally did it.  I put up a few pictures.  I am having trouble with the before pictures.  I cant get my scanner to talk to my computer.  I will work on that.  The only before pic is the one of me and the crew.  That was taken this past December but you cannot see anything but my face. Oh well, now that I know how to work this thing I will be posting more soon.

The weatherman says its going to rain today.  Classic Southern Ohio weather.  Always changing.  Yesterday was such a beautiful day.  I did make my walk to the store.  No problem walking but I got carried away buying stuff.  Carrying home three bags was a big mistake.  I only went in for some fruit and a few veggies.  Oh well.....

The scals are creepeing downward ever so slowly but no pound lost yet.  Just a few ounces going by the way side.  Hopefully I will be ale to report another pound gone by tomorrow.

Well, I have to go and read with my daughter this morning before she takes off to school.

Oh my, the tea cup is empty again......

Until next time,

Roy

Entry Is it Spring Yet?
Mar 13 2007 08:30

Today the temperature is supposed to shoot upward and I am ready.  I have Spring Fever bad.  This is the first time in many years I am getting excited about actually doing things this Spring and Summer.  Life is good.

No movement on the scale but a few ounces.  The math of weight loss says at my current rate it will take a few days to get rid of another pound.  Oh well, I got plenty of time.

Speaking of time I think I am getting used to the time change.  It was a bit easier getting out of bed this morning.

We are supposed to pick up the boat this weekend.  I am like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.  It seems like the days are just creeping.  We would have had the boat by now but we have to wait for some stock to sell.  We decided to cash out instead of taking out a loan.  I hate monthly payments.  I guess I will continue to get the boating fever and just have to live with it for a while.  My wife says that this boat is my reward for changing my lifestyle.  Got to love it..........

Todays mini goals:

  • Stay focused on my long and short term Goals
  • Exercise
  • Make a nice dinner for the family this evening.  May even break out the candles again.  The kids love this.
  • Eat 5 servings ov veggies today
  • Keep calorie intake up
  • Walk to the store instead of driving.  About 1.5 miles away.  Will give full report tomorrow.
  • UPLOAD PICTURES TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Until next time,

Roy

Entry Hello Monday
Mar 12 2007 07:51

What a weekend.  Never a dull moment around this house.  I should come to expect the en-expected by now.  Everything from car troubles to soccer sign-ups kept me on my toes.  Well, actually I am not complaining because two monthes ago I could not have helped out handling these problems so life is not all that bad.

The new time change has got me out of wacks a bit.  I guess I will adapt sooner or later.  Never minded falling back an hour in the fall but that spring forward thing is a killer.

I have not loged my food entries since friday but I did manage to get in 3 hours of exercise.  I guess I was in my expermental stage/mode.  I wanted to see if I could stay on track without actually trying.  Guess what, it worked because when I woke up this morning and weighed myself another pound had gone by the wayside.

Everything seemed to be second nature.  My exercise routine fit into the busy schedule.  We ate out and I had no problem passing on the bad for Roy menu items.  I still cooked all weekend so it looks like the lifestyle change has taken hold.  I just pray it stays there.

My goal for the month is to get rid of 10 lbs and so far this month 5 lbs are gone.  This week I am going to focus on really staying on track in an effort to hit my goal a little early.

We are going to go to Destin Florida to visit family the last week of the month during the kids spring break.  ( Have not been on a Vacation in years due to health problems)   I hope to be able to take the new boat down and play a few days in the Gulf.  This is why I am going to try and hit my goal early, and the main reason for my earlier experiment.  Vacation is not the time to always be thinking about lifestyle changes.  Vacation is time to relax and have a good time.  I can not wait.  I hope I am stong enough to keep the second nature thing going while on this little trip.

Hey, guess what?  I found some pictures of me thanks to family and friends.  I will try and get them posted today or tomorrow along with a fresh current picture.  I was shocked to actually see pictures of me before my lifestyle change.  No wonder I always avoided the camera.  So check you computers for possible failures, and be sure you do not have any mirrors close to your computer.  I do not want to break anything.  Pictures of Roy are coming!

  • Stay focused and on track for the long term goal
  • Eat well and keep calorie intake up
  • Kick in the big D for determination
  • Kick in the big C for commitment
I can do this thing and hit my long and short term goals!

Until next time,

Roy
