Let's see, another nice boring night in our house! Stayed at work late last night and then home to relax, make tacos for dinner and play a little Super Mario Galaxy. I'm sad because we've almost finished the game! I got D the new Super Mario Bros game which is also 1-4 player so we'll play that together but I really enjoyed SMG and hope they come out with a sequel.

Then I had trouble falling asleep last night which meant I had trouble waking up this morning. Tossed and turned until almost midnight (went to bed at 10) and finally fell asleep.

I have a canker sore (sp?) on my lower inside lip and it won't go away! Any remedies you know of? I thought if I left it alone it would just heal but that's not appearing to be the case as it's just gotten sore-er.

Good morning

Good morning! I decided to say screw the alarm! this morning and turned it off and went back to sleep. Woke up at 7, "woke" D up :P and then jumped in the shower and out the door. So got in late today but I just don't care! I'm SO looking forward to Christmas so I can be home for a while.

So D's mom wanted to do Christmas this weekend which was totally fine. Well now his stupid sister wants to wait until after Christmas which I said was fine too, we have no plans. Well now they want to do both!! I'm sorry, I've about had my fill with his family lately and I really really don't want to have to put up with them TWO weekends around Christmas!! I mean come on! I feel like we see them all the freaking time now! This has been a very family oriented year with weddings and crap so I'm ready to go back to the way it was talking to them once a week and seeing them once a month. That worked for me. But if we try and get out of this weekend then his mom will get all upset and it'll ruin the holiday. Man, the more I think about it the more upset I get over it, this isn't good.

Um, not much else to report! LOST season 5 is on dvd so we're getting that on Netflix right now so we pretty much spend 3.5 hours in front of the tv every night now :P I try to wash dishes or something during it but it's just a show you can't miss a second of or you miss a key clue to something! I'll find myself just standing there, holding the dish and dishrag but not actually washing the dishes because I'm staring at the tv. So I finally gave up and we just sit our butts on the couch for it.

After that I cleaned up the living room (it was a mess with bows and ribbon and present tags/tape/pens all over!) while D did the dishes so now we have a clean living room and a clean kitchen, yay!

try again

I will attempt my journal again today but it won't be as eloquent as yesterdays. I've learned to always copy my thread posts because they get lost a lot but I don't usually have trouble with journal entries. Oh well, lesson learned!

Our party on Thursday was fun! We had about 15 people because 4 bailed at the last minute. There was tons of food and everyone thought it was great! I got everything made except the mushrooms and the yogurt dipping sauce but no one ever knew so it was no big deal. People stayed until about 11 and the I did dishes for about an hour while D and his friend J chatted. They sat at the island though so I could be part of the conversation which made dishes a little better.

Friday we got up and went to my last appt before my LASIK surgery in Jan. They took scans of my eyeball and then put in numbing drops and dialated my eye to get my true Rx. Turns out my glasses/contacts are .25 too strong for me but she said that's typical for near-sided people. As she put it "near-ies like it small and tight" :P. It's funny she said that because I went back to the eye dr after my last glasses appt and asked for a stronger Rx because things weren't sharp enough for me. But she said it really wasn't a big deal. So we're all set for surgery on January 7th! We spent the rest of the day running errands and then home to relax

Saturday we slept in until 9 which is unheard of for us!! We spent the entire day in our pj's in front of a fire playing video games and watching tv. I finally tackeled the kitchen to put away all the dishes and clean up the cooking mess from the party. Then I met D's parents at Lowe's because my dad is buying him a 20' extension ladder for Christmas but I can't store it so they're keeping it for me. I also bought him the middle section of his tool chest. I bought him the top piece last year and next year will be the big bottom section.

Sunday was another lazy day but I actually showered! I did six loads of laundry (all folded and put away!) and then played more Super Mario Galaxy with D. Overall a great relaxing weekend!

Oh and I got an A in my class!! I was fully prepared for a B so yay!!!! Only one more class to go and my GPA right now is a 3.75. If I get an A my last semester my GPA will be a 3.8 which is graduating with honors, remind me of that when I'm procrastinating on my homework!!

Party Day!

Good morning! I got home yesterday at 4pm and we immediately left to go get a Christmas tree because we decided that it might as well be up and ready for our little party tonight. So off we went to the nursery and then the grocery store for a few last minute items. Then home to warm up stir fry left overs and have dinner before the mahem started. We got the tree in it's stand and in the living room to warm up whilc we ate. Then I put the bread together so that would start rising (it rises over night). D decided that our menu wasn't extensive enough so he added stuffed shells to the list which are his specialty. So while he made those, I made baklava. Then I just used a brownie mix to make brownies as dippers for the fondue. Then he stirred up the meatball mix and got that taken care of, today he just has to roll a million meatballs and cook them! After that I took a break from cooking and cleaning the kitchen and decorated the tree while D made baked cheesecake. I think he put ina little too much cheesecake so he's afraid it didn't bake enough all the way through and will be soupy, we'll see!

I also made another ice mold using mini pinecones I found on the trees with my mom. Hopefully it freezes fully by tonight! So another night of going to bed at 12:30 and waking up at 5am to get into work early. I'm leaving at noon because I still needs to make the onion tartlets, cook the bread and meatballs, make the meatball dipping sauce (spicy cucumber greek yogurt dip) and sweet and spicy meatball glaze, make the spinache artichoke dip and the stuffed mushrooms. I need to vacuum around the tree trunk and get the skirt on. I need to reshower and do my hair and wipe down the shower doors. I need to run a load of towels because we dirtied most of them cooking last night. I need to swing by the store and get a few last minute items I forgot. So, over all I got all but two things crossed off my list for last night and added stuffed shells! I'd say we're just about on track! Now let's just hope anyone shows up!!

Blur

Tuesday was a blur! Monday night D got in a snit which kinda ruined my Monday night and Tuesday morning. He's over it now. He's a total passive agressive personality because that's how he was raised. He's a lot better than when I first met him but sometimes it rears it's ugly head.

Yesterday after work I went home to a clean house. D and I broke down and hired a cleaning service because it was just too much to do on my own according to D. He was trying to be nice and helpful so I finally gave in and they came yesterday. They did a good job. So that left me with the night off to finish my scrapbook! So I exploded in the middle of our clean living room! Gotta clean that mess up tonight but the scrapbook is done, woot! 20 pages total.

We made chicken stirfry for dinner last night, yum! Then D suggested that I finish my honeymoon scrapbook so it's ready for our guests tomorrow night. I started in on that and had to make three more pages to finish and got it all done. Then I look at the clock and it's 12:30!! How did that happen!? Up to bed we go and I immediately fall asleep. Two seconds later my alarm is blaring 5am. I got in super early this morning so I can leave early and if it would stop raining we'd see if we could find a Christmas tree tonight and maybe I can get it decorated by tomorrow's party, we'll play it by ear.

So that's about it, totally exhausted and it's my own fault :P

Weekend's over :(

Up and at em bright an early. Actually, not bright, ver very dark and early!! I was awaken at 4:30 this morning to cats hissing at each other so I got up to break up the fight and it looked like it was actually the little cats fault! Usually it's our male cat that chases her but he was backed into a corner this morning, weird. So then I couldn't fall back asleep for reasons I'll explain later.

Friday was busy. I got into work early to get in as many hours as I could before noon. I left at 11:30 and went and had lunch with D after he had a meeting on base and then I ran to Michael's to grab some scrapbooking stuff and then home to start my final at 1. I got two problems pretty quickly but had NO idea what to do for the other two. I even ended up calling the prof to ask for clues which he tried to give me but it didn't really help because I'm not grea on theory and proving stuff. I figure, someone spent their LIFE proving this equation, I'll trust it!

So finally finished that around 5 and sent it off because I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Then I went downstairs and we had left over bbq for dinner and then I started my scrapbooking endeavor. I had bought spray glue which I thought would be great for fabric. I was wrong. It was a MESS. The fabric stuck to my fingers more than the paper unless I doused it in glue and then the pages were too wet to do anything else with. So I left 12 sheets to dry overnight and when I woke up the next morning I found out the freaking glue does NOT dry clear, is just stays looking wet and sticky. WTF? Who would design that?! Whatever. I saved whatever pages I could which was about half (one I figured out what I was doing I figured out how to use less glue) and salvaged any unglue-y paper for scrap paper and then burned the crap sheets.

So I spent ALL DAY Saturday scrapbooking! I had 6 good pages from Fri night and spent Saturday morning making 11 more pages with different glue (go glue stick!) and then cut pics with fancy scissors and made up 13 pages front and back. I got through Rome and Tuscany but still need to do Pisa, Florence and Venice which will take way more than the 4 pages I have left over. So I need to make about 10 more pages and I'll be done! I'd SO much rather be home doing that today than at work!! My pages are definitely elementary and some are just weird but overall I was pretty proud of my first scrapbook endeavor! Now I just need to run out and get a book and pages to put them in at lunch today.

So I literally scrapbooked for 12+ hours on Saturday wasting the ENTIRE day I should have been cleaning! But I had fun so I justified it:P Sunday we got up and went to the Redskin's game which was SUCH an interesting game and I'm SO pissed at them for loosing over stupid crap and bad refs.

Got home after the game and dinner at Cheesburger in Paradise with d's co-worker and her b/f who went with us. I was about ready to crash when I started noticing how messy my house was and that it was going to take a lot of work to get the house picked up enough to actually clean it before out little party on Thursday. So I started stressing out and then getting mad at myself for wasting my Saturday and started cleaning while D worked on his final more (he worked on it for the 12+ hours I scrapbooked on Sat too). Went to bed after 11 and then up at 4:30 stressing about my dirty house and grocery shopping for this party and making food for it. I know it'll all get done, I have my list of stuff to clean and things I can make before Thursday to make things go smoothly but the list keep growing and growing!! Make it stop!

Anyway, that's it, another busy weekend that I wish wasn't over!

la-ti-dah

So add to my list:

    ~ call dental insurance
~ call D's HR rep and find out why I'm still not covered yet
~ go to Michael's at lunch and get scrapbooking stuff!!
    ~ FINISH HOMEWORK!!!!
~ pull out cash from atm
~ pick up bbq dinner on way home that only accepts cash
~ eat with D and then clean up a little because study group is coming over to study for our final tomorrow

I've been inspired to scrapbook. See, I know I will probably be good at scrapbooking it but never had the desire/time/money/energy to actually do it. I know from sewing that I have a good eye of what goes together and where things should be placed to tell a story etc. I just don't really want to spend the money it takes to start scrapbooking! So I'm collecting stuff. I found a bunch of "travel" themed stickers yesterday and then someone told me instead of using cute paper they used manilla folders for the stiffness and glued old fabric to it and decorated with that instead of paper and then use the embelishments etc. So that got me thinking.

The person that was house sitting for us while we were on our honeymoon made us a few fun pages for a scrapbook and then left us the leftover stickers and paper for us to continue it. I kind of tucked it away because, while it was very cute, I just didn't have and of the above mentioned items to finish it. So now I've got a decent start to stickers, paper, and I have TONS of fabric and all the pics printed. My mom has one of those mini-paper cutters she's letting me borrow and a corner rounder for pics. She also has funky edged sissors she's mailing down to me. So maybe I can do this! I have so many pics that I just want a piece of and the rest is just background so this is a great way to put multiple pics on one page instead of just flipping through a photoalbum. So that will be my Saturday project I think, at least to see what I have assembeled and get some ideas together to see if it's even possible to do!

Running to Michael's at lunch to get some adhesive tape and glue since mine is all old and dried up.

cuddle time!

I worked late last night and went straight to my RFL meeting and then was home at 7:30 to try the new Digorno flatbread pizza. We had the Tuscan chicken pizza which was really good but not quite filling enough for me and D was still hungry. Make sure to pair with a good veggie or salad but I do recommend them. Didn't look at the nutrition facts but it's better than regular full-crust Digorno I'm sure!

After that we watched Heroes from last night and we're just not into it this season, they're reaching. D still likes it but I'd delete it from the DVR if not for him. Oh well, he watches my silly shoes like DH and GA so I'll give him this one.

After that he put on The Office reruns and I curled up on the couch with him and was alseep in minutes! It was nice to just curl up with him in front of the fire and get some sleep finally! Went to bed at 10 after D woke me up because he was burning up (he's naturally hot so add in a fire and my curled up to him on the couch and he's dying!) so I went up to bed and immediately fell asleep. I slept the whole night through too! Woke up for a split second at 3am and fell right back to sleep. Whew, I was starting to think I had insomnia which is weird for a great sleeper like me!

Ok, so I made my list and went to the store at lunch yesterday and got my dad a present and card for his b-day and put it straight in the mail so one item crossed off! Today is working on homework and tomorrow is our study group before the test on Friday. I will make it through this week!

And we're going to a Redskins game this Sunday! D's boss has 4 season tickets and is out of town right now and offered us two and another co-worker two so we're all going up on Sunday together to see the game against the Saints. I got a Skins t-shirt that I will be layering up underneath to hopefully stay warm beacuse they're calling for 40's that day!

wrapped up

It appears I got so wrapped up in the Thanksgiving holiday I forgot to continue thinking about the following week until today. This morning (at 2am mind you, so not much sleep after that) I realized that Friday is my dad's b-day so I need to get his gift and card in the mail ASAP so it's there on time. Also realized that my final is this Friday so my homeworks are due this Friday too! Then I realized yesterday that tonight if my monthly Relay meeting which I knew would cause a fight between D and I so I didn't tell him until today in an e-mail. So stress all over the place and I'm tired already.

So now I need to take off work on Friday to take my final from 1pm-3:30pm which is NOT cool. I hate that he makes it at 1pm! What a stupid time for a final!

So I'm grumpy today and I'm cold. I am wearing a scarf, sweater and long sleeved shirt and have a blanket wrapped around me and I'm FREEZING! Temp is set to 65* and they outlawed personal heaters. Well screw them, I'm getting mine out and it's going on very soon!! I'll hold out as long as possible.

I did eat decently this morning, protein shake and cheerios for breakfast. Just had pretzels for a snack which I realize is carb overload for morning but I just love them! Trying to do better.
