3.5 months later

Hi all,

So much for a weekly journal entry.

So its 3 months since I started. 2 months since last entry. So how goes it.

Pretty well I think, now on 102.33 (trend line is at104.44) kg down from 111 kg when I started, so trend is down. So glad that I learned at an early stage to average my calorie deficits over a week (ave ~600 cals per day) and also to look at trends for weighing. (thanks calorie count for the weight log. Trending down despite the odd log being up or down by as much as 1.5 kg.

From the workout side, my main exercise is still walking home from work (25 min) & 15 - 20 minutes on a stationary bike. Though now have added to this a 1 hour Tap dancing class (only bloke in a class of women, also only one of my bulk & age) which is OK and definitely feeling that. Also taken up ballroom dancing with my wife (thanks Strictly Come Dancing ). Not as energetic but fun. With the extra activity, hopefully will see the pounds drop a little quicker.

That’s all for this week.

See ya.

Week 4; almost a month into it

Well so far pleased with how it is going, Have definately formed the healthy eating habit. actually found myself looking at something and thinking nah too much fat. Disapointd to learn just how much fat is in nuts, these were my downfall, so now if i do get them, its like a bag over 2 or 3 days instead all in one go.

Weight still going down, logged a 108.9 today but trending at 108.45, so thats down 1.5Kg from start.

Can imagine the next week not being so good. My birthday tomorrow, Wedding anniversary on Saturday so will be out for a meal Saturday. Expect to be at maintenece or above that day, still will look at keeping the average down where it should be.

Thats it for this week all the best guys and gals.

Week 3: Still going down

Hi All

Wek 3 check in.

Still seeing the pounds go down, seem to be averaging about 1kg per week, got to admit tend to average my weights over the day then log the average onto the site. So my graph goes up and down a bit, nice to see the trend line is on the downward slope.

Got used to doing everything now, the logging of food and activity, the checking the calorie labels, its now become habit so thats one hurdle over.

Maintaining the 700-800 average deficit, and it seems to be doing the trick.

Difficult some times. My problem is when I am on the old night shift at work, used to think nothing of a bag of crisps, or/and a bar of chocolate. Still have the chocolate but tend to go for the smaller bar now. This linked with the lack of exercise on them days mean a narrow deficit or non. But usually next couple of days eat a little less to average it all out.

So far so good.

Week 2 into the diet

Well here we are 2 weeks in, weight down from 111 Kg to 108.6 Kg today, so thats 2.4 Kg or about 6 lbs. So thats pretty good start,

So overview of how so far. Bought the old exercise bike and started doing 10 minutes a night first week, Second week varied from none on days that did lots of other stuff. (Done some major gardening this week moving rocks, sawing and digging up roots. So on those days no bike.

On the food side, I have just started eating less and not snacking like I did. The foods I eat are still the same, and that includes Pizza and Pie. Though as things go on will look at healthier alternatives to the shop bought processed ones.

On average deficit is about 800 from the figures I put in. Aiming for that as an avarage therefore if I over or under estimate will still be in the 500 - 1000 range.

So far so good.

week 1

Well here we are on Day 7, of my start to get healthy, so how is it looking.

Not bad at all, looked to have lost about 1kg, or about 2.25 lbs.

Its interesting that looking at what I ate I was probably eating the right number of calories (my daily calorie need is about 2380) but not balanced.

Found it hard at the beginning to get up to the daily target set by the site of 1700, anly manages 1200 on day one. probably a bit paranoid about eating anything I shouldn't. Started eating a bigger breakfast, which means on about 1000 cals before my main evening meal.

But now hitting around the 1700 - 2000 mark for the last 4 days. With a bit of excercise (exercise bike) aiming now for a deficit of about 750. Therefore if I over or underestimate the food / excercise I should still be in the 500 - 1000 deficit range. (so the theory goes) Just need to get the nutritional balances about right.

Anyway average deficit for last 7 days is 988. Lost about 1kg so looks like it may be working. 1 down only another 33 to go.

it has begun.

First day after finding this site, and so with a bit of help from the various pages turns out I have eaten 1315 calories

Burn meter at 2799.

I can't believe some of the burn estimates, do I realy burn 228 calories sitting and watching TV, or 257 cals working on my PC for 90 mins , can' get my head round that, hey perhaps I don't watch enough TV ;-)

Anyway started doing the exercise bike thing, keeping the old strawberry pumping at the 120 mark for 10 mins, done that wed, thur, fri and sat

see you later

The time has come to lose some weight

Well I have taken the plunge, after much deliberation I have bought an Exercise Bike, and a set of weigh scales to see the scale of the problem.

Set the scales and stood on them for the first time in years.

Result; 17st 13.75lb (fully clothed) that's about114 Kg. BMI in the Obese area.

Got home and assembled exercise bike. Gave it a trial run for 10 mins. (Its amazing how long 10 mins seems when you are not doing anything else, will start combining with T.V. watching.)

Afterwards weighed myself with just Boxer shorts on

Result 17st 5lb / 109.9 Kg BMI of 34.8 Obese.

Aim for about 13st / 76kg / BMI 24.

So intentions are start off with 10mins every evening to get my body used to the idea.

Will run like that for a couple of weeks and review.
