This week began with a bang

Our local handyman came by Sunday and started a few projects we've wanted done. In the process I was occupied more with helping him than with working on healthy eating, my fault not his. As of today we only have some minor repairs left (a leaky faucet, a missing part on another faucet and something with one of the office chairs). It should take no more than half an hour after he finds the parts then we have to wait for enough money to do any more projects.

Atti is doing much better. She's now eating the dry kibble when she's hungry enough. The dr is tapering off the meds so it won't be long before she's free of my ministerings.

Tomorrow I'll be going to B'nei Brak for my weekly study. In the evening we should have the laughter yoga so I'll have a busy schedule. Thursday I'm cooking and baking. I think I'll try to set up some pre measured mixes for Channukah meals as well. By the end of the week I'm sure to be tired and hopefully prepared for the comming weeks and holiday.

Have a good week everyone.

Long day

I spent the morning playing on the computer and the afternoon cooking and baking. I made the nutritious breakfast bars in the recipe database here, some chicken soup, bbq breasts and my usual breaded legs for us. I also made a mixture of gizzards and rice for Atti and Daisy. Daisy liked it and I'll find out about Atti in the morning.

Meal wise I didn't keep track of everything I ate but I did keep mainly to prepared portions and vegetables. The exception was the breakfast bars. I had several portions worth of them. Those bars are very tasty! I probably still need some protien since I often go low there.

Tomorrow I'm out to learn in B'nei Brak so I'll have a good deal of walking and my usual light lunch. Laughing Yoga is also scheduled for tomorrow night. Another long day but it should be fun.

Atti is gaining weight

I have to spoon feed her but she's gained weight and is acting a little better. Joe is also understanding things a little better. Me...I'm trying to figure out how to explain to the vet why we can't afford the surgery recomended (cleaning an animal's teeth requires they be put to sleep so the vet doesn't get bit in the process). I'm pretty sure that the problem was a combination of stress from the other cats and being transistioned to an outdoor cat combined with the tarter on her teeth or some other tooth issue. I have a few days before I will speak to her again so I'm sure I'll come up with something. In any case I'm having to weight myself more often so I can weigh her.

I'm not as diet stressed, so to speak. Today I'll be organizing breakfast packets for quick hot breakfasts and doing some cooking/baking for the comming weeks and Shabbat. I hope to do a little library maintainance between cooking. Items scheduled are: an oatmeal bar for breakfasts on the run, enriched cream of wheat packets, a new dessert for Shabbat, chicken soup of some type, breaded chicken legs and some form of chicken breast recipe. I may even make challah if I'm up to it.

For now I'm off to facebook and some games while I finish my breakfast.

Gained a little this week

Even though I'm not keeping to logging and journaling regularly I am working on making it easier to keep to the diet. I made two Rice and Lental Shepard's pies, one for dinner and one for another day, and will be setting up this weeks baking day. I also have some nice chicken soup measured out for us to take as we want.

Joe will be out Tuesday and I'll be out on Wednesday. The rest of the week is at home. If there's no rain I plan on working in the garden. Maybe I'll even psych myself up for a good walk in the yeshuv. In any case, I need to go though my pantry and menu plan for the grocery list before Joe's day out.

As mentioned earlier I'm going to bake this week. I want a nice breakfast bar for when we travel and I'd like another dessert for Shabbat. Measuring out the dry ingredients for some pancakes would be nice as well. If I get some nice veggies to freeze I expect I'll set that up too.

Mitzi can go out in the morning for her meals now. She's doing quite well even though she did remove one stich earlier. I've told Joe that if it rains or gets too cold during this week Mitzi comes in again.

Atti is gaining slowly. She went up from 2.7kg to 3.4kg over Shabbat. (~4kg is minimum for cats) That's a good gain even if she still feels too underweight and bony. I had to force her to eat some of the sofened kibble before she devored the container I made for her. Later in the day I accidently scared her from eating some dry kibble she found laying around for her. For now I'm thinking the problem might be her sense of smell and eyesight agrivated by some psychological fear of being pushed away by the other cats. Having her in the house should help until she's more normal in weight.

I'm below maint but not sure by how much

I was good about adding my intake for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was the problem. Since I was right on for fiber and protein, below optimum for fat but high on carb I ended up with a sneaky dinner of a high fiber cracker and salmon spread. It wasn't a good idea to have this at the computer. I ended up eating without keeping track of how much I ate. Still, I'm sure I didn't go over my maint, even if I may have gone over the recomended allotment.

Tomorrow should be fairly easy. I've already made most of the foods for Shabbat. Soup, a gravy for one meat dish and rice are the only things left to make and they shouldn't take very long. I've even begun logging Shabbat and should have the time to complete it tomorrow.

Procrastinating again

I didn't get to completing the entries of what I ate yesterday nor today. Hence, I didn't do the math for either day. No respectable reason except I didn't make the time to do it.

I did, however, keep to healthier foods than I would normally eat when not logging. Joe and I had oatmeal for breakfast and eggs with homemade hashbrowns for lunch. Tonight I'm having some mixed veggies and some ww small pitas. My snack was some low fat cottage cheese.

Later tonight I'm planning on going to a women's group. It's something in addition to the laughing yoga so I'll be out a little longer than my usual Wednesday.

Tomorrow is a cooking day. I was planning on baking but may not since we have a reasonable amount of bread. While shopping on Monday I found a bakery that makes tiny regular pitas and small ww pitas. I bought enough for at least one to two weeks worth. I'll still do a little 'baking' but not as much as I originally planned. Besides I have two nice chickens that need to be sorted out into soup and main course meals.

Yesterday was hectic

I was out all day and very very tired when I got home. My younger cat, Mitzi, went in for sterilization. While she was in with the vet I was walking around shopping in the rain. I didn't eat much and by the end of the day I had to have Joe come help me with bringing things home, mostly groceries and the cat items we need.

I'm sure I didn't eat properly or enough compared to how much exercise I had. I had some burekahs for breakfast and lunch and a nice homemade meat TV dinner for supper. Then I plopped into bed and slept until this morning.

I've started the day out well with a nice warm breakfast of oatmeal with maple and wallnuts. Lunch plans will include cottage cheese and veggies. Dinner depends on my totals but should include veggies and protein.

Activities today include cleaning up the livingroom from yesterday's shopping and deciding on what I'll be baking for desserts and on-the-go breakfasts. Caring for Mitzi and checking Atti's weight are also on the agenda. I'll b"n add my deficit remainder later today.

My meal plan is not normal today

I'm in pain from my back and hips and not eating properly. I'll probably end up going down early instead of having dinner. I may even break down and take asprin/ibuprofin soon. B"H Joe has the homemade tv dinners from Shabbat to eat.

My deficit, if accurate, will be heafty with good totals. The problem is that since I'm so restrictive in movements I don't feel it's an accurate deficit. I did log what I ate, including the 4 marshmallows, and may do the math later or tomorrow. For now I'm just going to relax.

Tomorrow Mitzi is going to the vet for sterilization. Joe wants me to wait on it if I'm still in pain but I'd rather take care of it now and be done with it.

Tuesday I'm home and hopefully working on some house stuff.

Wednesday I go to learn in B'nei Brak.

Thursday I'm hoping to be well enough to bake again.

Yeah. I know. I didn't log for two days and now I'm using the totals from my last log. It's off, probably by quite a bit, but I want to keep to the routine so when I do get back into logging regularly, and not giving myself excuses to not log, I can follow the routine easily.

Yesterday I did get out to Bnei Brak and had my usual walk. I also had my new usual cottage cheese and vegetables so I think I did pretty well. Tuesday was another matter as my friend came over and we had a drink. Today I'm back on track with good totals and I logged my meals. I'm just having difficulty taking care of the activities I planned for the day.

I still have a few hours left to do the cooking and cleaning I want done. I found a recipe for making meat stuffed grape leaves, which will take a bit of time to make since I'll have to potch around filling the leaves. I made some vegan refried beans already and I have two other recipes I want to make; French cut green beans and a Lental barley cottage pie. The pie can wait until next week if necessary but the cleaning of the kitchen and floors I want done today so I can have my spa day tomorrow.

On an off topic note: My cat, Attilifchic, has been having problems with eating. She's now is just under 6lbs (9lbs is the usual minimum for a domestic cat). It could be a physical problem or it could be because the other cats we feed have abused her such that she's afraid of getting hurt while eating. Biggest problem is that she doesn't trust us anymore either, hiding when we try to help her.

OK. The totals are all off from where they should be and I didn't get out to walk today but I had a reasonable deficit and I logged everything.

My totals were off because we had an omlet in the morning and I had two rolls of the bread I made for Shabbat. Whole Wheat Kubaneh is delicious! I didn't want any of the left over chicken or soup though I could probably have some soup later tonight, if I get hungry, and still keep a good deficit. Currently I'm not really hungry, only thirsty.

I could blame the distant sound of thunder on why I didn't go walking but that would be a lie. I wasn't even that stiff or uncomfortable to really keep from the walk. I just didn't want to go walking. I'm not too sure what to do about this since it's mostly laziness and lack of interest in walking with only the dog for company. Everyone else in the yeshuv is either already in a walking group, prefers walking slower/faster than I do or not interested in walking at all. The walking groups are all Hebrew speakers and I'd feel the outsider so that's not an option either. I'll have to think some about this.

Tomorrow Joe is out in the afternoon so I'll probably do some work on the house while he's away. I'm also planning on making something with lentils and various other supplies I want to use up. Legumes and spices mostly.
