Feeling a bit better today. Scale went up 2 lbs to 138, but I expected worse. I feel like I got a binge that was building up for a long time out of my system and I hope that I can eat reasonably for a while now.
On a completely different note:
I want to get my mom a really nice Christmas gift this year. She always gets cooking supplies, and stuff for the house and whatnot, and I'd really like to get her something "just for her". She is truly an amazing woman, and I want to show her she deserves the world. But all the ideas I can come up with are the boring old cookbooks, etc.We have a family rule of no gift cards, and I'm really bad at guessing sizes/fit etc.
Please, anyone have any ideas?
she's 54, takes very good care of herself, dresses well, likes gardening and reading, is a big fan of coronation street and goes for a lot of walks. She's trying to lose weight, and only eats all natural non-processed food -- so sweets are definitely out.
I'm not sure if it's available in Canada, but here we have a company called Edible Arrangements. They make "flower" boquets using fresh fruit (cut like flowers). they may be online |
Oh, wow, I agree with Edible Arrangements! I had that as my "cake" for my birthday a couple yeasr ago. Expensive, but really original/special! What about a nice necklace? I don't know how much you want to spend, but there's a whole range of prices. If you don't want to spend a ton on some gemstone type piece, there are always really unique, pretty pieces of jewelry that are much cheaper... There's a store called Fireworks in Washington state, that my mom always loves stuff from! http://www.fireworksgallery.net/istar.asp?a=3&dept=JWLRY &class=NECK&pos=0&numperpage=20&sortby=PRICE just to give you a sense.. there are some pretty classy, nice things, and more fun things... at a wide variety of prices. I dunno, though. Just a thought. :) |
If she likes jewelery, a friend of my makes some really cool stuff. Its all one of a kind. She's in St. Paul but its worth it if you like cool originals Tell her Holly (aka Crankyone sent you to her). She sent me some awesome earings once. |
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
