So I started my new job on Monday, which means I now have a 1-hour (at best) commute instead of 20 minutes, and my gym is now ridiculously inconvenient. So I haven't gone since last week and I'm not sure when that will change.
This is the longest I've gone without exercising in a few months, probably since my last life-alteration-disruption event. It's bumming me out; I don't like the feeling of not getting exercise / not making forward momentum in my fitness. I think I'm OK on the weight loss front; I've been really good about calories and have kept well under my 'light activity' calorie level so I'm not worried about that. It's not like I've been sitting on my butt either; my job requires a fair amount of walking around and standing, and I park a good half-mile from work so I have to walk to and from my car. I just am antsy to get some real exercise. I brought my gym bag in my car today intending to go after work, but traffic was awful and I got too hungry. Tomorrow I'll bring a snack and try again, but who knows. This week might just be a gym washout, but as soon as I get my JHU id card I can start going to the campus gym and that should solve my problem.
Secondary problem is that I don't have a scale, so I only use the one at my gym. It makes me a little nervous to not know how all this is affecting my weight!
In other news, my new size 16 jeans are a little big baggy in the hips and thighs after wearing them all day; I wonder if it's the cut or the size? I really can't imagine that I'm a size 14 but then again with all my loose skin and flab I find even 16 a little hard to imagine. When I was last this small my skin was a lot tighter so it looked different. It kind of sucks though, because these jeans looked very flattering in the dressing room. Oh well! Better too loose than too tight I guess.
Rock on with the loose size 16's You could always go somewhere and try on like 5 brands of jeans of various sizes. You know they all lie anyway. I hope you get a chance to get to the gym today, maybe a walk after work instead. |
Another gym-less day - my well-laid plans, which included bringing a snack and having my gym bag packed and ready, were dashed when an after-work happy hour was sprung on me. One of my co-workers got a potentially lucrative patent finally approved or whatever happens with patents, and we celebrated. So instead of exercising, I drank beer and ate nachos. Ugh! Tomorrow I'm going to be running back and forth from work and a lecture in DC so no gym potential there. Oh well, my schedule will fall into line soon. At least I get the mile of walking to and from work because I have to park so far! |
