Back to where I started (almost)

Well, I've been away

I've gained back nearly everything I had lost

God this is depressing

I was feeling so good

My schedule has changed repeated in the last 2 years and this time I just didn't find time to keep exercising once my schedule got thrown off. But I'm back to it... sadder but wiser.

Now I know I can do it, I can change, I just have to keep that change up. I've always known this wouldn't be a poof I'm done losing wieght, now I can forget about it for once kind of thing. This is a forever thing... bummer.

I started here at 235, went down to 207, now I'm back up to 224.

Time to head back down again.

I'm also a sucker for memes (or psydo-memes)

“The Omnivore’s Hundred” was posted on the British blog Very Good Taste by
Andrew Wheeler back in August. It is an interactive meme for bloggers.
He lists 100 things that he thinks every good omnivore should have
tried at least once in his/her life. Some of the items are ordinary,
some are dangerous, some are exotic, and some are just plain bad.

Here are the instructions and the Omnivore's 100 list:
1) Copy this list
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating. (can't cross out, I'll underline)

4) I don't know what that is, haven't tried it, don't know if I would

1. Venison
2. Nettle tea
3. Huevos rancheros
4. Steak tartare
5.
(edit): I'm impressed, I looked them up, and no I had not tried any of them, but I would be willing to try all of them, they were mostly cheeses, fruits/veg and a few strange drinks and sauces. For some reason I'm more afraid of wierd meat.

Autumn

It might be autumn when:

... campus is abuzz preparing for the incoming students

... yesterday at 5pm while standing in the shade in shorts and a t-shirt, I was actually cold

... in order to bike home from C's house last night after dinner I had to borrow his winter jacket

... I'm wearing jeans

... there was frost on the windows of the parked cars this morning

... my local store is carrying C's favorite Pumpkin Ale

I love autumn. So tell me, what are you signs that autumn is upon us? What is your favorite season?

"I would buy you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils." - name that quote

I deserved that cookie dammit!

Taking your boyfriend up to your family's 1860's ranch house = AWESOME

Walking along the ocean (despite the nasty cold wind) = AWESOME

Hiking down to the river to go swimming only to find a dead deer in my childhood swimming hole = NOT the Awesome

Swimming a mile or two upstream of dead deer = mildly awesome

Visiting with family and getting Grandpa to tell stories about his time in WWII = AWESOME

Stargazing 40 miles from the nearest "town" = AWESOME

Car overheating as we try to drive from ranch house to highway = Not the Awesome

Car dying on side of 101 6 miles from a town = NOT the awesome

Realizing we had very little battery and very little reception on our cell phones = Not the awesome

Finally getting a hold of my mom who arranged our rescue = AWESOME

Sitting on side of 101 for 4 hours waiting for a tow truck = NOT the awesome

Realizing that we're not getting home today, having our car towed North (further away from home) = Not the awesome

Being picked up from the auto shop by cousin, staying at Aunt and Uncles, going out to the brew pub with other cousins = AWESOME

Hearing from the auto shop the next morning that their first estimate is $2,500 and two weeks = NOT THE AWESOME!!!!

Borrowing my grandpa's 2nd car and driving home, getting home and collapsing on my moms couch = .... at least it's over

So, yeah, I TOTALLY deserved that cookie,..... and the french fries .......and the 1/2 a strawberry milkshake.

I never thought I'd be glad to be at work.

In other news my friends got married at the court house on Friday in front of family. They may have a wedding next spring, but they got married now as it made a big difference in the finances of buying the house they are building.

more later, for now I have to pretend to work.

brain halt

I work for the University of California at Davis.

I just got a call from someone asking to talk to the owner.

My brain came to a screeching halt.

I literally froze for a moment, thinking to myself, who the hell owns the University?

Not the Deans, even the President doesn't 'own' the University.

I guess I could refer him to Governor Schwarzenegger. Or he could try to call the Citizens of California...

Finally I just told him "Sir, you're calling a University, who are you trying to reach?"

He hung up.

I am so tired of things that usually make my life so easy and fun not working.

Yesterday at lunch I realized I only have 1 bar of power on my cell phone even though I charged it all night. Get home to realize the charger is broken, damn!

Today I get home, pretty tired after a long bike ride with C and decide I'm going to fall asleep to a movie on my laptop. Turn it on, I get the black screen of 'no matter how you try to start Windows you're doomed' of which I try all my sad options, all of which result in the dreaded 'Blue Screen Of DEATH'.

Gave the lappy (named after the angel Aziraphale because Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman are literary Gods, btw my old desktop is Crowley after the daemon of the same book) Anyway I hand of Zirie to roomie and pout. He can't fix it (something about a corrupted hard drive I didn't know angels could be corrupted, somehow this is ironic but I'm too upset to appreciate that right now) but our other friend (my computer ninja) might be able to. He'll pick it up tomorrow.

So, I'll listen to my Harry Potter books on my ipod to fall asleep. (yes I usually need something to fall sleep to, otherwise my mind won't shut up). But alas, I've just discovered my headphones have a short in the wire and won't work. DAMN.

I could read, but my eyes are sleepy, so I just turn off the light, turn on the radio to some light jazz and try (unsuccessfully) to sleep.

Bad night's sleep!

This morning as I hopped on my bike to head to work, the chain fell off. Took me a good 10 minutes to put work it back on and I smashed my fingers pretty good in the process. Now I'm at work and GRUMPY. If my computer fails at work today I'm going to leave, go over to my parents house and play with the puppy all day.

I love technology, it makes my life fun, easy and shiney. I hate HATE technology that I have become reliant on failing me.

For now I give out my battle cry (although there's a slightly already defeated tone in my cry).

FIORD!

Sara

In the good news (I refuse to let this post be all gloom and doom) I'm down another pound to 210, lowest yet! woot!

My Birthday!

Woot! I'm officially older!

My birthday was on Wednesday the 30th but celebrations began the day before. My sister had to take a test on my actual bday so I did the family thing on Tuesday night. We had BBQ, and I got a few DVDs, a really cute purse and the game Apples to Apples.

Wednesday, I took the day off work, slept until 9, stayed in bed reading until 10:30. Met my sister and C in Sac for lunch and then went shopping. Came home, got spiffed up and went to my favorite resturant in town, Aoili's, a cute Tapas bar with great wine. C and I got a little table in the corner, it was very romantic and the food was great.

Thursday I work, house meeting with roommates.

Friday I work, dinner with C's Mom, friend R's Bday.

Saturday will be my day with my friends. We're going ice staking, out to a Moroccan dinner (seated on the floor on cushions, eating with your hands, watching the belly dancers), the on to Karaoke!!! Woot!

Sunday I recover from Saturday, do laundry, pack for my trip and try to catch my breath for the upcoming week.

Monday, I work, and it's Sci-Fi night with my girls (and their respective boys)

Tuesday I work, but then my best friend comes up to visit me from Carmel Valley. She was my roommate all through college and I love her dearly. Can't wait to see her.

Wednesday I fly to Seattle for a family wedding and don't come home until Sunday.

CRAZYINESS!!!

If you don't hear from me until next, next Monday... I'm not dead just temporarily insane!

damn bigots

There is a new lab tech at my work. She's really nice. In the office
we refer to her as our 'ray of sunshine'. She makes everyone laugh.

I
found out this morning that her rented house in Woodland were she and
her partner live, was tagged last night. Apparently it was very
vicious, cruel and explicit. When she told me about it she tried to
laugh it off, but I could tell it really upset her. She and her
partner just moved here from Colorado so she could go to vet school at
Davis. I am so sickened.

What is wrong with people. I know
Woodland is a rural, farming, hick, commnity, but come on this is
California. We just legalized gay marriage.

Universe, I demand JUSTICE! You better do something damn cool for this sweet girl to make up for this crap!

New Low

Usually the words, "I've hit a new low", would be a bad thing, but not on this website. 211lbs baby! I'm definitely on the slowly-slowly path, but I've failed so many times I don't want to restrict myself to the point that I rebel. This might also be me justifying the laziness.

There are so many people on here who post "I've lost 20 pounds this month!". But that's just not for me. I've done the crashes, which are always followed by gaining it all back and more. And funny, those people never seem to stay on CC very long. Maybe they just don't need CC anymore (but I smell quitters).

I stalled for all of June at 214-216 (just got lazy when the heat showed up). But I'm back on track and now at 211. I can't think of a CD I want, so maybe my 15lbs will be a new scale (mine is iffy).

In other news: family wedding = stressful expensive tiring fun (and it's not even happened yet)

quick update

Not much to say this time, but I feel like I'm neglecting my journal, so here is a quick walk through my quagmire of a mind, join me won't you.

Birthday, I'm quickly approaching my own as well as several important people in my lives birthday.

Mine: I'll turn 26 on July 30th, and I have no idea what I'm doing for it. My parents have been asking what I want, they usually get me one big present, like a bike, tv, dresser, bed, something practical that I need/want, but I don't know what to ask for this year. It's not that I have it all, but I can't point a finger to what I'm missing. As for a party, I'm kind of over it. A girlfriend of mine (who is 10 days older than me) is throwing herself a big bash, and it seems kinda tacky and attention grabby.

Theirs: By Oct 1st I'm always broke. C's bday is 9/27, my best friend S is 9/28 and my sister is 9/30. I have an idea for S's gift, that is cheap and creative, but I need ideas for the other ones. What do I get a guy I've been dating for 5 years, who has everything. I might do a day in the city fully of fun stuff kinda gift, I've done that in the past. If there's anything within 100 miles of Sacramento, CA that you know if please give me a holler... maybe Yosemite... Also I have a sister who is turning 24, in grad school, and doing well. don't know what to get her either... hmmm.... gift giving is hard. Anyway if you have any ideas for 2 twenty-somethings let me know, I need ideas!

Weightloss: Still stalled, still at ~214. This week will be eating less and getting at least 40minutes a day of light cardio in despite the 108 degree hell outside.

comments are love
