Well not sure what's happening here. Finished my TOTM.  Got my calories down to 1200 a day and I gain weight. 1200 +500 deficit is=1700. My burn meter is set to 1640, you'd think I would loose something, not gain. I am gaining about .20 a day. I have run out of ideas here. I have tried every scenario that could be tried and very little happens. Getting very discouraged. The scales have still not moved off of the 170's. Been hovering around 78 kgs. (171.60) since September 5th.

Two weeks ago increased my calories to 1300 to see if it would make a difference, only gained, so I have been trying for the past two weeks to loose that weight I gained and got it down to 170.10, but right back up again.

We'll see what tomorrow's weigh in shows. Frown It's just so frustrating. I just wish one week I could see 1 lb. loss. Haven't seen that since last spring.

How frustrating! Have you asked Mary the dietitian here? Have you ever seen a dietitian? I know a lot of times insurance will cover it... and it is not very expensive if it doesn't??? Just another idea... I know ideas are probably getting old by now. I really do feel for you.Frown

Maybe it is time to toss the scale??? I have been up and down and unable to get past 180 for quite some time too. Back up today... 181 :(

Hope you have a good weekend! If you could just focus on how great you look instead of what that stupid scales says... One pound is NOT too much to ask for!!! I am wishing you great success... You deserve a loss!!!

I feel your frustration! I too am losing weight SO slowly. I've been at it since 3/09 and have lost 20lbs. Most weeks there is no change,  or only .5, and then once in a while,  I see 1-1.5 loss in a week. It's extremely frustrating. But, I keep telling myself to keep at it. After all, 20lbs gone is a great thing. If I quit, I know that 20lbs will be right back with lots of friends. In another 6 months, I should be down close to another 20lbs. It's slow, but it's happening. Keep at it! There's lots of us in the same situation. Smile

Hey Deb, go easy on yourself. You were 175 when you started the Schmooze & Lose challenge the beginning of september and now you're 170. What's wrong with that? The scales are still going down. Try not to look at the week to week numbers, but at the trend...according to the past 8 weeks you've lost 5 pounds! THAT'S GREAT!!!

With all that exercise you are not eating enough. Your burn meter is at 1640 cals. You said you eat 1200 and burn 500 every day. Since your body tends to burn your food before it burns stored fat, that leaves 700 calories for your body to live off of . You need 1640 to sit on your butt all day. You are DEFINATELY in starvation mode.

Maybe try this...If you burn 500 cals exercising, eat 1600 calories that day and you will still have 1100 calories for your body to use (540 deficit). If you don't work out, eat the 1200 and you still have that 440 cal deficit. If you are worried about trying to get 1600 calories into your body, eat more proteins - lean meats, beans, 2% milk, almonds - especially after your workouts. You should always get a good dose of protein into your body before the sweat dries after your workout.

Roxie is right - go to a dietician right away. But be prepared to be told to eat more!

My PT if you read my post a few days ago, told me about stalling weight and I shared it.  You need to lower your protein to a reasonable 20 % and raise your carbs. Your carbs are what burn energy and expend better.  Your protein if overloaded will feed the fat cells. Your body stores protein as excess fat, so you can get overload. I'd be viligant about the protein because it is also bad on your kidney's.

Hoping this bit of information is useful for you.

Take care and God Bless.

I have to agree with Lily . . . your body is hanging on because it thinks it isn't getting anymore.  I know you said you tried 1300 for a week, but that really isn't much more than 1200 and not long enough to give your body time to adjust.  Take her advice . . . you may see a slight gain the first week, but I'm bettin' it kicks in after that.

I know it must be soooo frustrating, but we're all here rooting for you!
