Blur
Dec 09 2009 07:04
Tuesday was a blur! Monday night D got in a snit which kinda ruined my Monday night and Tuesday morning. He's over it now. He's a total passive agressive personality because that's how he was raised. He's a lot better than when I first met him but sometimes it rears it's ugly head.
Yesterday after work I went home to a clean house. D and I broke down and hired a cleaning service because it was just too much to do on my own according to D. He was trying to be nice and helpful so I finally gave in and they came yesterday. They did a good job. So that left me with the night off to finish my scrapbook! So I exploded in the middle of our clean living room! Gotta clean that mess up tonight but the scrapbook is done, woot! 20 pages total.
We made chicken stirfry for dinner last night, yum! Then D suggested that I finish my honeymoon scrapbook so it's ready for our guests tomorrow night. I started in on that and had to make three more pages to finish and got it all done. Then I look at the clock and it's 12:30!! How did that happen!? Up to bed we go and I immediately fall asleep. Two seconds later my alarm is blaring 5am. I got in super early this morning so I can leave early and if it would stop raining we'd see if we could find a Christmas tree tonight and maybe I can get it decorated by tomorrow's party, we'll play it by ear.
So that's about it, totally exhausted and it's my own fault :P

TUESDAY MENU ~ WHERE'S THE BEEF?
Dec 07 2009 23:15
I am trying to keep things interesting by adding variety to my vegetable selections and my protein options... especially at dinner time. And I've decided that it's perfectly OK to toss in a stray can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup from time to time (I get the low sodium version) ... just for fun. But, so far (one week in) I seem fine with pretty much having the same breakfast every day, and pretty much the same lunch... but I do have some other options waiting in the wings (things like salmon and tuna!) But, for now, I am just trying to adjust to eating healthy and logging. BABY STEPS, right?

MONDAY MENU ~ DOCTOR'S VISIT
Dec 07 2009 21:50
Today was my endocrinologist appointment and, as expected, my blood sugar control has definitely been less than good. In June my A1c was 6.8, and now it's up to 7.5. Well, I am not surprised -- illness and being less careful about eating will do that every time. Anyway, I'm back on track with a healthy eating plan, and I now know exactly what I weigh (EEEEK!) Anyway, I return in four months and my doctor has set a specific weight loss goal for me by then ... so I will do my darndest to meet that goal.

Weekend's over :(
Dec 07 2009 06:54
Up and at em bright an early. Actually, not bright, ver very dark and early!! I was awaken at 4:30 this morning to cats hissing at each other so I got up to break up the fight and it looked like it was actually the little cats fault! Usually it's our male cat that chases her but he was backed into a corner this morning, weird. So then I couldn't fall back asleep for reasons I'll explain later.
Friday was busy. I got into work early to get in as many hours as I could before noon. I left at 11:30 and went and had lunch with D after he had a meeting on base and then I ran to Michael's to grab some scrapbooking stuff and then home to start my final at 1. I got two problems pretty quickly but had NO idea what to do for the other two. I even ended up calling the prof to ask for clues which he tried to give me but it didn't really help because I'm not grea on theory and proving stuff. I figure, someone spent their LIFE proving this equation, I'll trust it!
So finally finished that around 5 and sent it off because I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Then I went downstairs and we had left over bbq for dinner and then I started my scrapbooking endeavor. I had bought spray glue which I thought would be great for fabric. I was wrong. It was a MESS. The fabric stuck to my fingers more than the paper unless I doused it in glue and then the pages were too wet to do anything else with. So I left 12 sheets to dry overnight and when I woke up the next morning I found out the freaking glue does NOT dry clear, is just stays looking wet and sticky. WTF? Who would design that?! Whatever. I saved whatever pages I could which was about half (one I figured out what I was doing I figured out how to use less glue) and salvaged any unglue-y paper for scrap paper and then burned the crap sheets.
So I spent ALL DAY Saturday scrapbooking! I had 6 good pages from Fri night and spent Saturday morning making 11 more pages with different glue (go glue stick!) and then cut pics with fancy scissors and made up 13 pages front and back. I got through Rome and Tuscany but still need to do Pisa, Florence and Venice which will take way more than the 4 pages I have left over. So I need to make about 10 more pages and I'll be done! I'd SO much rather be home doing that today than at work!! My pages are definitely elementary and some are just weird but overall I was pretty proud of my first scrapbook endeavor! Now I just need to run out and get a book and pages to put them in at lunch today.
So I literally scrapbooked for 12+ hours on Saturday wasting the ENTIRE day I should have been cleaning! But I had fun so I justified it:P Sunday we got up and went to the Redskin's game which was SUCH an interesting game and I'm SO pissed at them for loosing over stupid crap and bad refs.
Got home after the game and dinner at Cheesburger in Paradise with d's co-worker and her b/f who went with us. I was about ready to crash when I started noticing how messy my house was and that it was going to take a lot of work to get the house picked up enough to actually clean it before out little party on Thursday. So I started stressing out and then getting mad at myself for wasting my Saturday and started cleaning while D worked on his final more (he worked on it for the 12+ hours I scrapbooked on Sat too). Went to bed after 11 and then up at 4:30 stressing about my dirty house and grocery shopping for this party and making food for it. I know it'll all get done, I have my list of stuff to clean and things I can make before Thursday to make things go smoothly but the list keep growing and growing!! Make it stop!
Anyway, that's it, another busy weekend that I wish wasn't over!

SATURDAY'S MENU

NOTE: I didn't log or menu plan yesterday (Friday) because I knew we were going out to dinner. At the restaurant, my wonderful DH and I split 2 entrees: steak salad and grilled swordfish with potatoes and veggies. I know I did fine, carbwise, because my blood sugar was low later in the evening so I got to have 25 carbs of toast. Anyway, we've decided that it's ok for me to not stress over trying to log on days when we plan to eat out, so that's why there's no menu from Friday.

ZUCCHINI: I LOVE AND HATE YOU
Dec 03 2009 14:51
I have a "Love-Hate" relationship with zucchini. I know, I know, I problaby shouldn't anthropomorphize my vegetables, but I do (if, for no other reason, than to have the chance to write anthropomorphize!) Anyway, I had some fresh zucchini for lunch with some garlic, chili and lime sprinkled on top, and it really wasn't all THAT bad. Anyway, what I love about it is the fact that it's very healthy -- lots of vitamins, good fiber, very good for you, and low calorie. And it can be reasonably priced, as fresh veggies go, even in the winter. But what I hate about zucchini is that it's just sort of THERE. It doesn't really have much happy flavor by itself, and it's hard to get excited about eating a whole bunch of it (unless it's been sauteed in oil or butter or has melted cheese on it!) Anyway, my lunchtime zucchini today was fine, thanks to the garlic, the chili, and the lime -- you'd hardly know it was zucchini I was eating, LOL!
Anyway, "Operation Eat More Veggies" is proceeding nicely at Casa Mollymouser.
Uh oh. I manage to sit on McIntosh this morning in the process of sitting on my bed to put my shoes on. We hadn't made the bed yet, so I didn't notice that small cat-shaped lump under the covers. Oops. He complained loudly (and I think I just partially sat on him), but still! Too much cat-induced excitement too early in the morning. Sorry, Mac ... maybe you could sleep on top of the covers like the rest of the kitties?
I've been meal planning and pondering dinner ... tonight will be corned beef and cabbage with the last of the acorn squash. Oh, and some puffed Kamut cereal for dessert! (Kamut is this nifty high protein grain, by the way!) Yes, I'm weird ... but I do like cereal for dessert sometimes.
I didn't rake leaves yet, today .... the gardeners are coming tomorrow and I was thinking, "what's the point?" Hmm... maybe I will go out front and SHAKE the trees so more leaves fall for THEM to pick up?

So add to my list:

~ FINISH HOMEWORK!!!!
~ pull out cash from atm
~ pick up bbq dinner on way home that only accepts cash
~ eat with D and then clean up a little because study group is coming over to study for our final tomorrow
I've been inspired to scrapbook. See, I know I will probably be good at scrapbooking it but never had the desire/time/money/energy to actually do it. I know from sewing that I have a good eye of what goes together and where things should be placed to tell a story etc. I just don't really want to spend the money it takes to start scrapbooking! So I'm collecting stuff. I found a bunch of "travel" themed stickers yesterday and then someone told me instead of using cute paper they used manilla folders for the stiffness and glued old fabric to it and decorated with that instead of paper and then use the embelishments etc. So that got me thinking.
The person that was house sitting for us while we were on our honeymoon made us a few fun pages for a scrapbook and then left us the leftover stickers and paper for us to continue it. I kind of tucked it away because, while it was very cute, I just didn't have and of the above mentioned items to finish it. So now I've got a decent start to stickers, paper, and I have TONS of fabric and all the pics printed. My mom has one of those mini-paper cutters she's letting me borrow and a corner rounder for pics. She also has funky edged sissors she's mailing down to me. So maybe I can do this! I have so many pics that I just want a piece of and the rest is just background so this is a great way to put multiple pics on one page instead of just flipping through a photoalbum. So that will be my Saturday project I think, at least to see what I have assembeled and get some ideas together to see if it's even possible to do!
Running to Michael's at lunch to get some adhesive tape and glue since mine is all old and dried up.
