Employment and 60 degree weatherNov 10 2009 11:45
I've said it before and I'll say it again - GOD IS GOOD!
1.) The friend who I just went to visit in Cleveland this past weekend (the one who has been unemployed since February AND is going through a horrible break up) GOT A JOB TODAY!!! It's a full time benefits eligible position at a mortgage company just 4 miles from her house - YAY! They want her to start tomorrow which as an HR professional boggles my mind because doesn't everybody do drug screens and background checks nowadays? They must REALLY need someone quickly. Anyway, I'm ridiculously happy for her! The timing is PERFECT.
2.) This weather - I'm loving it. I went for another fabulous run this morning in 55 degree weather BEFORE the sun came up. Do you know how incredible that is for Chicago during this time of year? I know you all are probably sick to death of hearing about me talk about the damn weather all the time, but I'm telling you - it's a runner's DREAM! And speaking of running...
3.) I'm getting better at it. Seriously. Like, when I run in the morning I'm hauling ass! Gone are the days of run for 2 minutes...walk for 10...jog for 2 more minutes...walk for 20. The huffing, puffing, and wheezing is a thing of the past. And to think...this time last year is when I started running and there is NO WAY that I would ever had imagined that I would run a 5k...let alone run it every morning. I FINALLY understand what a runner's high is. The whole thing still just boggles my mind. Don't get me wrong...I still have a long way to go when it comes to being a true runner, but I think I've gotten a pretty good start!
4.) Although I'm not where I want to be weight-wise I'm happy with my body. It's in no way perfect (who's is!?), but I'm confident and like the way my clothes fit. However, I do plan on turning things around in 2010. I WILL lose these last few pounds!
Overall, things are good and I am truly blessed. If you can...take some time today to count your blessings.

Really??? Companies do drug screening and background checks???? I can see it maybe if you're working with children... or as some kind of police officer - but I've never heard of that before!! Also loving the positive. I think this warm weather is doing a bunch of us CCers good. Lets take those good blessings and RUN with them eh? Tonight I hope to run with them LITERALLY. I wanna get back to it! |
Yay! Im so glad you are happy. I look forward to running again. I really do. But for now I am focusing on myother accomplishments (like my kick ass calves (they really are) and my 110 push ups). So much to be poud of. So much that losign the last 10 lbs slowly is not a huge deal :) I like teh way I look naked now. anyways, I am happy about your friend as well. |

I know - this weather here has been AWESOME! Sunday night, Vic and I hung out on the porch for a while at like 7:30pm. It was just beautiful out. I hope this whole winter is UNSEASONABLY MILD!!! I am very excited for your friend! I know most of the larger companies do the drug testing/background checks here - but I think that is a big city thing. |
