Entry Byetta
Dec 30 2008 18:06

CoolHey there Hi there Ho there,

Ok I'm trippin', anyway, about a year ago I started taking shots for my diabetes, what I was taking was Byetta, it's a shot that some diabetics take especially if they are trying to loose weight, it helps control they're appetite, and since I am trying to loose weight I started taking the shots.  Well, I felt it made me eat more, I started on 5mg. and it did nothing for me, in the meantime I was hearing about people who were on it and how sick it made them.  So I talked to my doctor and told him I felt the shot was doing nothing.

So he gave me the 10mg. dose and that one made me eat more like I said earlier.  I talked to him again and this time he gave me 5mg. dose that he wanted me to take 2 shots of.  Well by that time I didn't think it would work I mean come on that's still 10mg. but a friend of mine did say it worked for her.  But I still wasn't moved to take it so it's been sitting in my frig. for sometime now.  I was cleaning out my frig. and I saw the byetta syringe and started to throw it away but something told me not to and to try it again.  I did, I've been back on the Byetta shot now for 2-3 days  and I can't believe that 2  5mg. shots are working.  I can eat a very small meal and before I get done with it I'm as full as a tick.  I ate an apple earlier for a snack and I was full before I finished it. I think I like this LOL, I'm completely satisfied.  Am I loosing weight I don't know, I will weigh myself Fri.  or Thurs. whichever and I will let you all know.

You know it's funny my mother, and doctors keep telling me to loose weight and that I need to really think about the by-pass surgery and I was really going to do it at one time but the more I thought about it the more I couldnt, I figured one of the things they ask of you is that you learn how to control your appetite, I couldn't do that, I had a very hard time controlling my appetite which really depressed me.  But for the past 5-6 months I've been really concentrating on my eating and trying to get a grip on it.  I needed to understand me, I would fall, I'd get up, I was so determined to do this, I figured IF I chose to do this surgery I would have to do it anyway so why not learn how to eat anyway.  So I'm on my way, I know I will fall again, I'm not perfect, but I am trying and I won't stop trying.  I was learning before the byetta I mean I have managed to loose 21lbs. without the shot so I am learning something about all of this.

But one major thing I've learned is to stop beating up on myself, when I want something sweet I eat it a couple of days ago I had a taste for something sweet, donuts was my choice, I bought some dounuts and ate a total of 6 yep 6 so, the next day, I kept going on my journey I didn't down myself, or think badly of myself  or anything like that, I excepted it and moved on.  That's major stuff for me believe me.  I'm growing and I hope you are to

Entry I'm Back
Dec 27 2008 06:59

Well it's been months since I last made an entry.  I've been falling off the wagon and getting back on, I've been going through personal crap, pain, just LIFE.  But I've still tried to keep my weight formost on my mind which we all know that, that isn't always possible.  Recently I've been dealing with Bronchitis, I've been battling that for a few months now and my doctor put me on prednisone something that reeks havoc on my body and appetite.  So yesterday I decided to start taking my Byetta shots again and it helped counteract the prednisone.  So I guess I soon see how well its working.

Good luck to anyone out there that is going through the same things we can do this with FAITH, AND DETERMINATION.  I realize now that faith in the Lord in doing this helps alot also.

Take care

Entry Back Injection
Aug 28 2008 19:22

Well I received my second back injection today, it was different from the first one, he had problems finding the spacer today.  It was a bit more uncomfortable but I survived it with the Lords help.  So right now I'm taking it easy and hoping this time it lasts longer then a week, the doctor told me, "if this doesn't work this time, he's not giving me the third one, he doesn't see a reason to do so.  He told me to talk to my doctor ( the one who referred me to him).

I drive a school bus, so I'm not looking forward to going to work tomorrow and driving a bus that clearly hates to ridden on LOL, meaning, it's not the smoothest ride in the world.  A more experienced person at this job told me once, "When I started this job, I was walking up right and able to skip through the parking lot, now look at me, I'm barely making it to the door"LOL.  So I say again, I dread tomorrow.

Has anyone out there ever received the back injection before and it didn't work the first 2 times?  If so, is it true that the 3rd time is the charm or should I just get that advice from my other doctor like the Injecting Doctor said?

Entry We Moved
Aug 12 2008 19:44

Well Aug. 3 2008 my husband and I moved into a Townhome, we haven't lived in a townhome since our kids moved out. We both have health issues but a townhome is the only place that would except our dog and the size she is. When we talked about moving into a Townhome we knew we would have to climb stairs but never did I realize that I would actually have to take my dog outside my self. LOL here, let me explain. Where we just moved from, we had a patio, so opening the door and letting out my dog was good enough for me. I would go out and play with her and I was free. But here I actually have to put her leash on and take her or should I say WALK her around. I'm not a person fond of walking because of the pain that comes along with it for me. So I have or should I say we have been getting a rude awakening lately.

Between going up and down the stairs and walking my dog I'm getting the exercise I didn't sign up for. LOL I went yesterday to get my first Back injection so I can tolerate walking better so hopefully I'll improve.

But I tell you, when your dog has to wait for you to get out of her way, or when she goes to the middle step and looks down at you as if to say " this is pitiful" or when your dog is behind you coming up the stairs with you, and you hear her sigh. ............ somethings not right. The nerve of her. Anyway I'll get better HOPEFULLY
