I really need to discipline myself more because I will eat really well during the week and then the weekends come along and that goes out the window. But I only eat bad on the weekends when I go away from home. If I go to my mother in laws house I eat very poorly. I think it is because nobody there is eating the way I try to eat. They still eat potatoes, breads, pastas, and other not so healthy foods. In fact they really don't have any health foods in the house.
The store nearest her house is so expensive for fresh veggies and fruits that I really can't afford to buy that stuff. I think that I should not go away from home for a while. I can get my weight to 152 and then I gain 4 lbs back or more every weekend. I have not been able to get any lower than 152 and I am starting to think of other unhealthy ways to drop at least 5 lbs in a matter of days. I am just really frustrated to the point that I am ready to stop watching what I eat and give up. But I am not going to give up or do any of those crash diets because I want to lose weight the right way.
I know that it is my diet that is messing up my weight loss because I get enough exercise during the day. When I get serious about counting calories and do it for everything that I eat, I think about food too much. If I don't count the calories in everything that I eat I eat all the wrong kinds of foods. I need to find the right balance between watching what I eat and how much I eat of it in order to get this under control. I hope that I can find that balance soon.
Is it pressure from family members and friends, or is it just a lack of availibity of food? Both can be equally hard. I find that with family member and friend pressure I find it easiest to let them eat how they want, and just alter what I'm eating. For example, I went to Olive Garden with friends. Even though there was only like 1 healthy thing on the menu, I allowed myself to go there, and then ordered the way I needed to (salad and minestrone, didn't have any of the shared appetizer, no cheese, no dressing). That way I could still be with my friends, and no go overboard. Sure, people will give you shit for the first few times, but they get over it. As for availability of food, if you are stuck in someone else's house, it can be really hard to find good food if they eat a lot of packaged junk. Have you thought of packing youreself a weekend survival pack? Apples, oranges, healthy granola bars, etc? That might help as well. |
Kaffwynn, They do give me some crap for eating healthy or counting my calories but mostly it is because they don't have all the health foods that I do at my house. They have so much processed or "fast" cooking foods. So it is a little bit of both. I have thought of packaging up some foods but the few times I went down there, but then I got so busy packing other stuff up that I forgot to pack the food. I will have to start doing that (and remembering to bring it) because I always feel guilty about the foods I eat, if I eat unhealthy for more than one meal. I have to go there this weekend and I need to go grocery shopping so I will get some good foods that I can eat while I am there. Thank you for giving some great advice about eating the way I need to even if family/friends give me crap and bringing healthy foods down there with me. I really appreciate it. |
I have the SAME issues! I cannot get below 150 and I have a really small frame. I eat really well and then BAM! Hello weekend goodbye will power! Then I end up feeling really bad and annoyed with myself! I just don't know what to do sometimes! I am drinking these shakes now and working on a 1000 cal a day regimine to try and train my tummy for a few weeks and eating only Body for Life approved foods! It really helps- but the weekends are so hard, especially when my boyfriend and I have a few cocktails! Keileen |
Keileen, Do you feel really hungry a lot of the time on just 1000 cals a day? Because on the days when I am aiming for 1200 cals it feels like I am starving unless most all of the foods that I eat for that day are veggies because then I can eat them all day long. What is the Body for Life plan like? Do they send you foods or just tell you what to buy? |
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
