Entry Me, me, and more me: H&M and my thighs.
Jun 18 2009 09:34

Just to be clear - the H&M size 12 tops (I bought 3) only fit because they are either very stretchy fabric and/or a baby-doll style that is much more flexible, size-wise....I tried on a more structured top and the 14 came nowhere close to fitting. Mainly because of my huge hips. If I could somehow gather the courage to wear a top that only goes to the waist instead of over the hips, a 14 would likely fit. But I am still excited to wear a size 12 anything LOL! It will be a long, long time before my hips are size 12. Maybe never. Seems like The Impossible Dream....but then again so did being anywhere under 250 lbs!! So there's hope, I suppose.

Today I am wearing a dress. I bought it in Las Vegas but haven't worn it yet....I am really more of a capri-pant kinda gal in summer. But Joel noticed it in my closet last weekend and asked if I was ever going to wear it, so to prove his suspicion that I won't wrong, I decided to don it today, along with my new sandals and some red lip stain. I feel pretty. A man on the bus offered me his seat haha....he was an older gentleman and likely would have done it regardless, but it made me feel pretty LOL, I am so easy to please. Anyway....that's not the journal-worthy part....what IS, is that I am wearing this dress sans bike shorts. I have not left the house bare-legged in years, probably since Iwas 17 or so. That's 20 years. OMG. I slicked some deoderant on my thighs and decided to give it a go. I feel so naked!! It's likely a bit premature - I am very conscious of my thighs rubbing - but as long as I don't do too much walking around, I might just be ok. The bike shorts are in my purse just in case! Wish me luck!

I am heading to Vancouver today after work, in less than 6 hours actually. Yay! I will probably wear this same dress to both Joel's daughter's dance recital on Friday AND Father's Day brunch on Sunday, so why then is my suitcase still super-full?? Ack I am such a girl.

Eeee! I love it! And isn't lip stain the best? It is so much better than lipstick. I am never going to attempt to wear lipstick again (i never wore it much in the first place because of the failures of it) Lipstain is so superior feeling and lasting!!! (I sound like an ad)

Dresses/skirts ALWAYS give you that instant pretty feel. I also notice more compliments or actions that I directly relate back to skirt/dress wearing! I think is half confidence and half because they make you super feminine and people just respond to that in nice ways!

I'm jealous your weekend starts so soon... sigh. HAVE FUN!

oooooh, yay for a dress!!!!!!!!  You will have to post some pictures of it.  Have you noticed yet that our clothes now take up less room in teh suitcase becasue they are smaller?  I am still a total girl too, and will always fill a suitcase!

Don't sell yourself short on the size 12 tops!  I think the less expensive stores, like H & M seem to have more variability on sizing from item to item.  A t-shirt I got there was stretchy and a size 4, but teh fitted blouses I need a 10.  Whether it is a 12 or a 14 you need, the most exciting part is that they can both be purchased in a regular clothing size store....no more plus size for you!!!!!!

Have a great weekend!

I LOVE lip stain, when I discovered how great it is I bought 4 of them in different colours. I wear the one that is just a shade or two darker than my lips every day, then I can just smear on clear lip balm throughout the day, it's awesome.

I DO notice my clothes take up less room, for sure, plus there are fewer necessities as I used to wear a lot of undergarments. Seems counter-intutive, but when I was bigger, I felt more secure with underclothes layered on me, and without them I would chafe everywhere as soon as I got even a little sweaty. It has been ver yfreeing to shed the layers, and the bike shorts were the last one! There are always shoes to fill the extra space though...I think I have four pairs in there this time :O

You're talking shoes to a dancer!  Even travelling light for just a weekend on a plane I can't bring less than 2 pairs of dance shoes and one pair of really comfy walking/running shoes.  My car has about 6 pairs of dance shoes in it as we speak along with a pair of running shoes!

H&M tops just don't work for me.  Cry  The cheap ones aren't flattering for me so I don't buy them and I refuse to pay more than $20 for a shirt!

No bike shorts! Way to go! I'm sure you are going to be a knock-out! Also, I have NEVER heard of lipstain.

The orchestra and chorus strike up:  "I feel pretty, oh so pretty!"  Of course you do, I bet you're looking like a million bucks.

Hurray for going sans bike shorts!

LOL I know what you are talking about not being barelegged, I think I can do it now (under 200 lbs) but being out of the office seen, I don't were dresses except to funerals and weddings.  Being dresses up and know you look good is so good for the morel.  Hope you have a great weekend.

Ho yes - I remember the old bike shorts trick.  Happily, I haven't had to wear those lately, even though I still get some slight rubbage at the VERY TOP of my thighs.  :-P

Congrats on ditching those things!
