Entry TAH DAH!! I have returned!
Jun 22 2009 07:00

Ok, so today I start things up again.  The house is finally mostly settled and painted.  I need to start looking for work this week as well.  BUT, I can tell I've put on pounds and with the new elliptical downstairs, that's just not ok.

Got on the scale this morning, weight is sitting at 215.6.  I'm not thrilled with that, but considering my glorious 3 month "vacation", I'm gonna take it.  I also figure some is water weight from all the bad eating and not drinking my water.  And TTOM is approaching too, so all in all, I think it could be WAY worse!

I sure hope it doesn't take long to find work.  I'm going to start going stir crazy now that I don't have a million chores to do every day.

Entry A new home
Apr 22 2009 22:56

Well, after months of waiting, weeks of living on loaner furniture and some LONG hours in the air, we have returned to the US of A!!!  So glad to be back in the land of the closer to normal!!

Needless to say, with the move, dieting hasn't been going at all well.  Or, at all, for that matter.  But, that is soon to change.  We will be purchasing a new elliptical machine, and I'm starting to watch my intake again.  Soon as our house arrives, I'll be right back in the swing.

Entry A pox on scale technology!!
Jan 29 2009 08:37

Well, I've reached the end of January feeling rather accomplished, yet completely unaccomplished at the same time.  Why, you ask?  Well, I've started a new workout, and gotten most of the weight gain off in the first two weeks of the month.  So... accomplishment.

However, and here's where the pox comes in, in the last two weeks I either haven't lost any weight OR I've gained two pounds.  Seriously... a nearly 6' tall woman, eating 1600 calories and working out 3 times a week and I GAINED 2 POUNDS????!!!!!  Not scientifically possible by the intake v. output plan.

If I hadn't gotten on the scale, I wouldn't know.  Thus I'm not getting on the scale anymore.  Maybe once a month.  Or maybe once every 6 months... or maybe, as long as I'm working out 3 times a week and eating right, I'll just sell the scale to gypsies.  No... I like gypsies, they never did anything to deserve that scale.

It is amazing how exercise in heavy amounts affects our bodies.  I've confirmed that if you really strain your muscles, it causes you to gain weight.  Boy can THAT be counterproductive.  So... I'll go back to judging by size rather than weight.  POO!!

Entry Happy New Year!
Jan 01 2009 07:53

Well here it is, January 1, 2009!!  Yes, I get to it a little earlier than most of you.

So I've been slacking off the last couple months.  Sort of intentionally really.  I needed the brain break.  As it turns out, it's been quite enlightening.  My body doesn't like not exercising or eating bad.  Funny how I never noticed how yucky "bad" food really is.

With all this in mind, and wanting to get the last of this weight off, I did an official weigh in this morning and the number didn't even make me mad.  209.  Sad, but that's what you get for sitting around being a continuous motion eating machine.  BAD ME!!  Plus, I know some of it is water weight anyway, so no biggie.

Onward and downward!!!  We have our plane reservations for our PCS and will be leaving on April 22.  With that in mind, lets see how low I can get before then!  Who's with me????

Entry Stick a fork in me....
Oct 30 2008 06:39

I'm DONE!!!

Someone once said that only idiot does the same thing over and over again and expects a different result.  Of course, I'm paraphrasing here, because I'm too angry to go find the actual quote.

Despite a statement to friends that I wasn't going to do it, I got on the scale this morning, only to discover that I've been merrily rolling along for the last 5 months WASTING MY TIME!!!  That's right, back over 200 I go.  Despite counting, measuring, skimping, sweating, lifting and apparently a little gloating, I've gotten NOWHERE.  Matter of fact, I've gone backwards in a pretty big way.  Guess that would explain the stretch marks starting to appear on my legs.

So, barring some pretty serious pep talks, I'm through.  It simply is not worth starving, and spending half an hour every morning cutting up good food, and spending every evening working out instead of enjoying my life.  All I wanted was 1 pound a month off.  Didn't think that was too much to ask.  But instead, it just starts packing back on.  Talk about an eye opener!

So, with that, I'll likely be saying goodbye.  No sense continuing to waste my time on this!

Entry Been a long time
Jul 31 2008 09:11

Well, it's been quite a while since I blogged, so I figured I'd better say something.  Had an official weigh in today for the first time since coming back from vacation.  My weigh sort of swung around there for a while, I think owing to slippage from vacation and upping my exercise.  I nearly got back to 200 there for a while, which concerned me.

But, the official verdict is in.  Weigh in this morning was 194.6!!!  I made it below 195 which was my goal for July.  I am up to running nearly 5 miles now, and I just raised the weigh level I am using for strength training.  I train 3 days on, one off, then start over.  Guess we'll see where it takes me by the end of August.

Entry Official weigh in day
May 31 2008 07:37

Good Saturday morning all!  I was awakened this morning by a torrential downpour.  We have the strangest rain here.  It rains like the dickens in one or two places for about 5 minutes... then it's gone.  It can make driving interesting as you go from dry road to wet road to dry road as well as the wipers going as fast as they can and not doing the job.

This morning was my "official" monthly weigh in.  I remain under 200!!  When all was said and done I lost about 2.2 pounds this month, to 196, which isn't bad considering three of those weeks I paid NO attention to diet or exercise.  I also suspect I am beginning the retaining water portion of my month anyway so it works.

Entry Home again...jiggity jig
May 24 2008 07:00

Well, we've made it back to Guam.  Can't say that I'm entirely thrilled about it, but here we are.  It is just an incredibly long trip.  Almost 8 hours from Houston to Honolulu, then a little over 7 from Honolulu to Guam.  All that time on a plane really is awful!

I decided to do a weigh in this morning to see how much damage I had done on vacation.  There where a couple days when I ate... and that's about all I can say.

Surprise!!  I am at 195.2, which is a LOSS of 3.6 pounds, while on vacation!  How weird is that???

Entry Vacation begins!
May 03 2008 03:57

It is now 4 am, which, might I add, should really be against the law!!  We are having our coffee and breakfast and getting ready to leave for the airport.  We checked in last night, so this part should be easy.  So..... United States... here we come!!!

I did my monthly weigh in this morning and got official numbers.  And that official number is 198.8!!!!  That's right!!!  I am now taking the OUT OF 200 prize for real!!  Were it not 4am... I'd be REALLY excited!!

That puts my official CC weight loss at 47 pounds and my weigh loss from recorded high at 58!!  WOOHOO!!  Quiet, not enough coffee-type jig!!

Entry Monthly report
Apr 05 2008 06:53

So, official weigh in day is here.  And.....(drum roll please)..... the numbers say I've lost 4 pounds this last month!!!!!!!!  Highly respectable considering how close I am to goal!  This puts me at 202!!!!!!!!!  I'm so close to the below 200 mark now!!  WOOHOO!!!!!

I have one of those fancy scales that gives you all that great information.  It shows that my muscle mass is increasing, which I'm happy about, and my body fat percentage is decreasing which I am delighted about.

We are now 28 days from leaving on vacation.  I plan to read a 190 something on the scale before that happens!
