Swimming kicks MY ass

Okay... I didn't really know what I was getting myself into when I decided to join the swim team at high school. I've got 1 3/4 hour practices Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings PLUS a 2 hour practice Friday after school. For the morning practices I get up at freaking 4:15 in the morning! My shoulders are perpetually sore. My thighs had hurt at the beginning, but not as much now.

On the bright side, I've lost 5 pounds already. It's one hell of a workout. I burn about 1,000 calories each practice. So on Fridays I burn 2,000 CALORIES! It's cool though, because it means I get to eat about twice the amount of food as I normally do and still lose weight. lol. I just can't wait until it feels easy to me. I hate all the huffing and puffing I do just doing 100 meters freestyle.

So yeah, wish me luck! I sure as hell need it for tomorrow's double practices, not to mention I'm going to try doing them while I've got a cold...

5.5 pounds lost so far...

*dances in a circle really quick* okay, done with that. lol. I was soo surprised when I stepped onto the scale this morning. 182.5!! That's three and a half pounds this week! I have to say, I was expecting 1.5 or 2 pounds maybe. I'm really hoping this wasn't some weight variable thing, like I didn't eat as much or I had just gone to the bathroom. I wasn't really paying attention to that.

I've gotten a little lazy with logging my foods everyday. I'm pretty sure I'm getting about the right amount of calories every day. I don't feel hungry during the day, but I'm not gorging myself either. I need to get back with it though... I think I'm not eating enough on some days. My appetite just hasn't been very well throughout the day. I'm hungry at breakfast and dinner, but when lunch comes around, I'm forcing myself to eat something so I don't get really bitchy later on. I have no clue why...

My first entry...

And so begins my journey to weight loss. This site is so awesome. I wouldn't be able to find anything else like this that works so well for me. Basically, I'm a broke, vegan, high schooler who needed something free, and fit well with my diet. So as you can see, this is the site for me. lol.

I'm really excited about this. I've already lost a couple pounds. I'm also noticing how much I used to eat. Downing a whole entree at a restaurant and then coming home and eating a couple of cookies before I would go to bed was basically what I would do. Now I'm learning how to balance my portion sizes, and how to plan my eating based on what I'm going to be doing that day. Like if I'm going to a social thing that'll have lots of snack foods, I'll eat a little bit less during my meals. I really think I'm going to be able to stick with this! :D
