Using " No Salt" instead of salt

Quote  |  Reply

I found a great recipe for Fat Free blueberry muffins, very low in sugar and using whole wheat graham flour. I want to substitute the regular salt for my no-salt as I shouldn't have the sodium. Has anyone tried this? In any recipe like bread, cookies or muffins? I am looking for a no salt bread recipe as well. ( sea salt is not an option either) Thanks

I use salt substitute carefully and it works out fine.  Since I have to take a potassium supplement, and salt subs are straight potassium, I don't want and over dose of the stuff.

The only thing is, if you bake bread, don't substitute.  Use real salt, just a little less.  There is some kind of reaction with salt and yeast that I don't understand, but it seems to be important to a good result.

I don't know about the salt, but I was wondering where you found the recipe? Sounds yummy!

The recipe is on the side of the wheat flour box. It is Hudson Mill Whole wheat Graham Flour. I am going to try the recipe tomorrow, will let you know how they come out. There isn't any yeast in this so I should be ok using my no-salt.

as for no salt bread recipes, I still haven't found any, but ezekial makes a low sodium bread that actually lists sodium as "0" Mg, it isn't too bad as toast, noit quite cardboard. Ha Ha

Thank you for the input.
