The usual motivation is lacking.
The last week or two I've been feeling kind of "meh..." about the whole weight loss thing. I haven't really cheated or even wanted to cheat but I'm just having trouble caring.
Since I was about 14 I've been a yo-yo dieter. I was desperate to be thin, nothing else in my life seemed to even come close to the importance I put on being thin (even when I was far from it), so my dieting always had a kind of desperate quality to it.
For the first time since pre-adolescence I find I don't care. I tell myself I'm losing weight for health, but honestly, the diet just feels like a comfortable rut so I'm sticking with it.
In the past I would have been thrilled to have my clothes hanging off me and face changing shape and now that I'm a 33-year-old wife and mother, it just doesn't feel that interesting or important to me.
I'm glad in a way because I don't think it's healthy to obsess over weight and I'm far less likely to yo-yo. It does worry me a bit though, because if I have a couple hungry days in a row, will I have the will power and motivation to stay on track?
Has anyone else felt like this? Did you work to overcome it or is it just a phase of life that you accept?
Hey! I'm a 27 y-o mother of four and wife too. I understand where you are coming from. I think I read on your profile that you had high blood pressure... That's why I started this whole journey. It was either I better figure out a way to do it with diet and exercise or else I'm going to be on prescription medicine. I've done that with a pregnancy and it's DEFINITELY not where I want to go. I lost 20 lbs using CC last year before having baby #4, and I'm down 22lbs this year after having baby #4. I've been there.
Thin shouldn't be your goal, healthy should be. What is your diet like right now? Is it something maintainable? You seem like your bored with your choices. Are you only eating one food? Maybe you can become more creative with your diet. Also, about your workouts. What are you doing? Maybe try adding a class at a gym/rec center. Or taking a workout from FitTV. Or doing a Biggest Loser DVD. Something to get the monotony out of your routine. Getting healthy doesn't have to be boring! Get a friend to work out with you- either at the gym or at a house. Learn to dance. They even have some pole dancing classes, if that's your preference!!! (I'm sure my husband would love that.)
Anyway, my point is, don't think you are so confined to losing weight that you must be on this rigid diet plan where all you can eat is chicken and salad. Or you can only walk on the treadmill for exercise.
You say that you are worried if you have a "couple hungry days", you'd get off track. You don't have to go hungry. I'm 5'5" and 145 and losing right now (had baby 4 9 months ago). I eat 1500 calories a day. I don't go hungry. I got rid of the Coke (a very bad addiction) and I was starting to get to the end of the day and think, I still have 250 calories left. I would go make a snack of light whole wheat bread with 1 Tbsp peanut butter. If you make the right choices in food, you won't go hungry.
Hope this helps!
