Maintaining

I went on vacation and maintained!

I always hear about people gaining weight on vacation, but I'm very close to my weight loss goal and I was very afraid of gaining weight and being set back.  I was on vacation for 12 days in Cape Cod.  While I was there I didn't restrict the types of food I ate at all.  I enjoyed all the good stuff like New England clam chowder, fried clams, bacon wrapped scallops, ice cream, fudge, and other desserts.  I just tried to be reasonable with portion sizes, keep up with my morning jogs and get a lot of walking in during the day, and I estimated my daily calorie intake the best I could.  I weighed in the day I left, and was still exactly the same weight the morning after I came back.  I am so proud of myself that I just wanted to share it with you all.  Put your mind to it and you can do anything. Cool

Wow!  I am impressed. Coincidentally,  my wife and I will be going to the Northeast to visit our children.  They plan on taking us to a dessert buffet, and my son plans on fixing us lobster, scallops, and oysters.  I also will drink some cold ones.  I need to take a page out of your book--I need to get my walking and ab work in and to hit my daughter's weighted kick dummy.  I hope I have the fortitude that you showed.  Great job!

Awesome!

Maybe next time I go on vay kay I can maintain! :)

Good job that is awesome! it is so hard to maintain when you go away because you are always eating out and busy doing other stuff to excerise. I am so proud of you.

That is so amaizng! You are an inspiration. I am leaving on Vacation in a little over a month and have been so worried about gaining. I am going to Texas where the food style is so different than what I eat. If you can do it, so can I :-)

Way to go, Kurichan!

I just got got back from a week of vacation and I was able to maintain, too!  I think that really shows a lifestyle change for us, hopefully.  We can indulge a little and have fun, but not go completely overboard.

Alright, now you two have really laid the gauntlet down!  I am definitely challenging myself to do the following:

  1. Have fun on my vacation trip.
  2. Eat some good foods and drink a few good beverages.
  3. But exercise every day I am in the Northeast
  4. Eat sensibly and moderate portions.

Great job by you folks who have clearly committed to a life-style change.

Congrats on that.  To me, that would demonstrate that you weren't just on a diet; that you've made permanent changes that can help you keep the weight off.  That's just as important (or even more so) than losing the weight initially.

Clint
