valentines day blues!
I am 20 years old, and this will be my 20th year without a valentine. This is getting old. Aren't there any decent guys around? Is a good boyfriend too much to ask for? grrr!!!!!
P.S. as usual, I will probably spend my valentines day eating a box of chocolates that I bought for myself so I wouldn't feel left out, along with a steaming hot pizza, while sipping a diet coke and watching some sappy chick flick, wishing I actually had a love life.
I'm not single but I hate V-day too! It's such a lame holiday. If you love someone, do something special for them on a random day, not some dumb day that everyone has decided is the day you need to spend a zillion dollars to show the person you love them. Blah.
I say you find something ANTI valentine's day! Like get a group of your friends together & go out to dinner or have an anti v-day party! We were going to do that this year but ended up not. Oh well. My fiance and I will just do the usual--gym, dinner, more work, tv and bed! So I say screw it! It's a dumb "holiday."
I'm twenty, by the way. :D
Last year Alex and I had just moved, he's my first serious relationship, and I never gave a crap about Valentines Day before so I didn't last year. I doodled him a card, made him a box out of duct tape because I was home sick and bored anyway (which he still has, haha), and he brought me home my favourite pizza.
This year I asked if I could buy him a present. I love giving him presents, mostly so I can tease him and since Valentines Day is usually a gift-giving holiday, I figured I'd take advantage of it. And here I am, havin' all kinds of fun, teasing him, telling him I got him something so cool and he's going to be so surprised and happy when he gets it, and for once in his frickin' life, he taunts me right back! He won't tell me what the hell he's doing for me and it's driving me insane.
If he didn't have a cold, I'd throw the bottle of whiskey I got him at his head.
This holiday really isn't anything special except a good reason to get someone to buy you lingerie.
Gah, it's not the holiday itself that gets me bummed. It's seeing all these adorable couples in movies falling in love, etc and me wishing I had that feeling to share with someone who actually cared. Not just some silly boy fling.
-_- Le sigh.
There's always next year.
I say grab a few rolls of toilet paper, make a bunch of confetti, and mail it to him. <3
I've never had a gf.
Thursday is February 14, just another day on the calendar for me...

My best friend and I did this in high school, and it was a blast. Went out for pizza, then got soda, popcorn, fixings for smores, and we alternated between watching Star Trek (skipping over sappy romance centered episodes) and playing board games. Did the wave every time Picard said "make it so" or Geordi used the words "jeffries tube" or "conduit", etc. We made ourselves a smore every time we saw a scientifically/logically impossible plot device.
Yeah, we're geeks - but it was fun. ![]()
Oh... I hate Valentines Day too!
When I was 20, my boyfriend at the time made me watch a scary movie (and i HATE scary movies) with him and a girl-friend of his. Then, he proceeded to ignore me all night and talk to her, then drive her home (leaving me alone at his house), and come home 1.5 hours later expecting something... lol I THINK NOT!
Happy f'ing Valentines Day to you too Mr. Romantic lol
I just like to look back and think of how much better my Valentine's Day will be this year, even if I'm alone :)
This year, my roommate and I are actually taking eachother out for a "romantic" dinner and a movie. Do you have a friend you could do something with? It's always fun to get out of the house with a friend and make fun of all the people out "attempting" to be romantic. lol And, probably better for you than eating a box of chocolates to yourself.
I agree! The year I WAS actually dating someone on Valentines day was in high school, and I was so excited that I had someone to get valentine stuff for, and he tells me "he didn't believe in valentines day". What kind of crap is that?? We didn't date for very long after that... :)
I usually can find a friend to do something with. Last year I went over to my aunt's house and spent the day with my two little cousins (who were 4 mos and 14 mos at the time! I LOVE kiddies!) This year my friend Kristen and I are going to go get some food and do something fun! I'm not sitting at home alone while everyone else is out celebrating! :) I'll have a valentine one day! (I hope at least! haha)
This is going to be my ONLY Valentines day ever with a fiance. I'll be married before the next one comes around. Alex reminded me of this, during his tauntings and teasings this morning, so we're going to end up makin' the most of it.
He better buy me something obnoxious and pink.
i actually hate valentines day. why should you sped this one day with your significant other? it should be everyday. one just one special day all year.
&they jack up the prices around this time too. its funny how we follow everything that we think we're supposed to.

I alternate between rage and depression. It wouldn't be so bad if it was one day but ALL MONTH I've been listening to **** radio spots on the perfect proposal, engagement ring, getaway trip, blah blah BLAH. I think I'll have a few drinks and go to bed early....
Hilarious! Rage and depression.. I hear you! I may do the same. I'm 26 and this is year 6 in a row of being single! Sometimes its great (summertime) and sometimes it sucks (holidays, stupid V day, etc).
edit: Perfect, I just realized I'll be in class til approx. 9:30PM that night, so I'll get home and not even realize the day!
Well I was supposed to be married on December 8, 2007. About 6 weeks before the wedding after the invites had gone out and RVSP's were coming in my Fiancee postponed the wedding and I later found out he was cheating. He chose her but I came to realize that I'm glad he cheated and left because I was so unhappy, he treated me like a maid and I was supposed to take care of him and keep him happy. It was so draining.
So this is my first Valentines day after we ended. Its been hard but I am so happy to be single and free of all his crap. I'm happy to be taking care of myself and getting healthy. So this year I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm going out with my best friend and having a girls night out. I'm excited.
But ask again next year and maybe I'll feel differently :)

My sister had the nerve to call me and ask me to babysit her two kids so the jerk she's with can take her out to some fancy dinner on Valentines Day with his $17 paycheck. Uh, hello? I've got a fiance, you've got trailor trash whose idea of romanticism is taking you to Frickers, getting you both drunk, then beating you senseless.

You're not worried that your sister may come across this public posting and be offended??
Also, I kind of look at Valentine's Day like Passover: I'm just not a member of the group who celebrates it. I WILL miss hitting up the chocolate sales tomorrow, though. I love, love, love those little Dove Milk Chocolate things. Le sigh...
