Valentines Day Challenge IV *Closed*

Quote  |  Reply

Hi, I thought that the previous idea of a Valentine's Day Challenge as a great one! I would love to work my way down 10 pounds, (knowing that it is healthy only to lose 1-2 pound please feel free to only try to lose 8 pounds) this would help me get down to my goal weight so much easier! Any one want in? I would also like to keep this group small (limit of 10) so that it is much easier to communicate and that we don't get lost along the way.

My stats:

Reason: To get healthier....and to be really honest to get some new lingerie!

Height: 5'7"

Age: 27

CW: 185

V-Day: 175

UGW: 165 (5/16/08)

Weigh-ins twice a week starting: Monday, January 14th and Thursday 17th. and there after every Monday and Thursday.

Please post updates of how you are doing, if you need ideas...ie: exercise, nutrition feel free to ask the group. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I would love to do this.  Your right we all need a goal to reach.  Last time was my wedding (back in august)  and since then haven't had a reason to lose more except for myself.  Here is my stats:

V-day: 151

UGW:  I'm still trying to decide between 140 and 145

I am planning on getting some activity a little later today and hope that we get a good group of people. :)

I am glad to see others wanting to do this! I'm excited! I'll be honest I have never ran a forum before, but I will do my best, if anyone has some ideas please throw them out there.

Here is a tip: Make sure to weigh your self in the morning on an empty bladder, and do not be discouraged if you do it later in the day and you have increased by a few pounds. Your body naturally shifts up and down a few pounds a day.

PS. Here is another one I am going to try: When I am hungry between meals...drink 8 oz of water and wait 10 mins, if I am still hungry I will have a snack.

I'm in!

Reason:  I turn 26 this Valentines Day and cannot think of a better birthday gift to give myself.

Height: 5'7"

age: 25

CW: 160 (?) (I'll step on the scale tonight to find out for sure.)

V-day: 150

UGW: 140

Hi this is something I can deal with  not something so far in the future that I will quit.

Stats:

Height:5'3"

Weight 175

Goal 145

Reason: Feel better about me and get moving more.

I had to have both knees replaced so walking is hard, but anything is possible if you want it enough? Do I? We will see.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site & think this challenge is a great way to stay on track. I've lost 75 lbs. over the last year & a half & have about 10-15 lbs. to go.

My reasons for joining the V-Day challenge are 1) get past a two month plateau; 2) get support while I follow the DASH diet (& lower my blood pressure in the process); and 3) become more confident in my body & life.

My Stats:

Height: 4' 11"

Age: 26 yrs

CW: 128.0 lbs

V-Day Goal: 120.0 lbs

UGW range: 113-118 lbs

Cardio Goal: 4-5x week, 30-60 mins, including at least 1 HIIT or sustained high intensity session

Strength Goal: 2-3x week

Yoga Goal: Attend class 1x week

Here's looking forward to Monday's check-in! Laughing

We Have our 10 (11 including me)!!

I am not sure as to how you all would like to do this? Do we want to do as some of the other forums have done and earn points as we go and sort of compete? Meaning take our measurements and calculate our body fat? Or do we want this to be the place that makes us accountable and use this site as a way to boost ourselves or to give and advice as we go? All feed back is welcome.

I personally just need a way to be accountable to other people as I'm not that competitive. I can understand how earning points can help motivate others who like a bit of competitiveness, & I'm willing to try anything & will go w/ whatever the group decides.

As far as measurements go, I think it's best to measure once at the first check-in (Monday the 14th) & once at the last check-in (V-Day) as I doubt a lot of change can be seen on a weekly basis. I'm willing to post my measurements as well.

The measurement part sounds great to me.  I'm pretty competitive.... the reason I needed a challenge to stay on task!  But, whatever the group decides is fine with me.  Should we post measurements on Monday?

How about this we will post measurements on Monday, along with all of our stats again, and then we will repost them on the last Thursday Feb 14th of the challenge? Sound good to everyone? If you would rather not no big deal, it will be of personal preference. I will work out the kinks of what to measure tomorrow and send them to you...sound okay? Does anyone know how to bring the last thread to the top so that you do not have to scroll down all the way? if not no biggie, just wondering.

I'm in for posting measurements!  Just let us know what you want us to post. Laughing

And no, I don't know how to bring the last thread to the top.  It seems like it happens automatically when a new reply is written.

Here's to Monday everyone!

I am new to all this and I have no idea how to measure myself..any tips?
Sarah0919 - I use a regular tape measure to record my measurements (e.g. waist, chest, thighs, calves, etc.).  I also have a scale that read body fat percentages using bioelectrical impedance technology, however I use it more for trends & not as a hard-and-fast body fat % reading.

Hi Ladies,

Here is how I think we should do this, I would love to take the credit for finding all this info, but I did not, I actually copied what we needed from the Valentines day Challenge 2.

Read the following information:

BODY FAT PERCENTAGE

Losing weight is not only about losing pounds but also losing body fat percentage. There are many different ways to calculate your body fat percentage. You can choose which way you would like to calculate but please be sure to calculate your BF% the same way each week. Here is an online calculator that can be used as well. (Note: The calculator is only an estimation based on your calculations.)

Please report your Body Fat Percentage on your first weigh in and each additional weigh in thereafter.

INCHES LOST

When you are working out and building muscle, the scale will sometimes move slightly or not as much as you like. This can sometimes make you feel like not much progress is being made. Another great way to track your progress is by taking your measurements. For those that do not have tape measures, here is a printable tape measure.

The areas for measurements for this challenge will be Chest, Waist, Hips, Thighs, Calves, Upper Arm, Forearm. Here is an article explaining how to measure each area. Please be sure to take your measurements in the same exact place. If you do not feel comfortable posting each individual measurements you can keep them to your selves to note your own progress.

Please report your measurements in inches. You can take your measurements in centimeters and convert to inches if you like.

WHAT TO REPORT:

Please report your Start Weight, Previous weigh-in weight, BF% and Current Weight for each weigh in and total your Pounds Lost. I promise this can be hard, I just took my measurements and I can tell you I am surprised, it is a bit scary, but I do promise that I will post them all tomorrow in hopes that I will change them all by V-Day!

Copy and paste the following and add it to your posting:

height:

age:

Start Weight: (Monday the 14th is your start date):
v-day goal weight:

BF%:

Week 1's Total Inches:

Chest:
Waist:
Hips:
Thighs:
Calves:
Upper Arms:
Forearms:

Make sure to get up early tomorrow to do this, you will want to do this right after you wake-up on an empty bladder and pre-morning coffee etc.

Congrats Ladies we are on our way!!!! I know we can do this!!

Here's To Monday!!

height: 5'7" (67")

age: 27
