Valentine's Day--any ideas?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm looking for ideas for Valentine's Day. My boyfriend and I have been going out for about 5 months now. We are a younger couple, so please no suggestions about proposing or wedding-related things. I also don't want to do something mshy like a candle lit dinner, and I know he wouldn't want that either.

where do you live? maybe you can do something out of the ordinary or adventurous like hiking, indoor rock climbing, snowboarding...  or you can get a hotel room somewhere nice (kind of chessy) but my b/f (now husband) suprised me by taking my to a nice hotel after dinner it had a pool and a huge bathtub in the room and we had some drinks and hung out for awhile, and *other things* Kiss lol. it was fun and different!

i think there's way too much pressure to do something super romantic on v-day. Use it as a day for you guys to do soemthing you both enjoy and can enjoy together. Maybe a day trip somewhere? Go to dinner somewhere you like..hell, just get pizza if you want! Just have a fun day with each other and I'm sure that will be way better than a cheesy romantic dinner.

How about making a "you two" day. I know I'm young and only 17, but if I every have a boyfriend, I would LOVE to just spend a day together...maybe under the blanket with hot chocolate - talking-laughing..and just enjoy the moment. The less you try to make it good...maybe the more romantic it will be.

anyway. good luck!

Yeah, I'm 18 soon to be 19 so I'm not quite into the mushy stuff. :)

I like your suggestions, bonnie, thanks! I was thinking of something more fun like that... Or maybe doing something together at a spa, like a message. I'll keep thinking on it though.

I'm taking my boyfriend to his favorite japanese restaurant, then I rented a hotel room with a hot tub/fireplace in the room so we can sit in it and drink all night.

Naked.

hahahhahahahahha

:)

My boyfriend and I are celebrating on Friday the 13th =] We're going to eat at a Japanese restaurant, we're going to go watch Coraline (I love movies like that) and we're going to sit around the house and watch 24 (his favorite show).  We're serious bums so to us thats perfect.

Although one thing I've always wanted to do is go the the bouncy house we have in town- they have all those huge inflatable bouncy things! Maybe you guys could do something fun like that?  Doing "childish" things are a blast!

Well, as for myself, I'm avoiding restaurants at all costs.  We tried that last year, and we ended up standing in the cold for an hour and a half just waiting for a table.   We made reservations, but apparently it's not officially a "reservation"... it just gets your name a little bit higher on the list.   Bah.  Never again.

I don't think we're doing anything really big because our birthdays are on the 3rd and the 17th of this month.  There's too much going on.  I like the movie idea AND the Friday the 13th celebration too.   That would make the whole dining out experience nicer.

I booked a private horse riding lesson for the two of us. He's never ridden or been near a horse since he was about 4 and thinks he's scared of them but he'll get over it and thank me. hehe!

  1. handmade card - can be funny, not mushy
  2. little album of your time together -if you have photos
  3. fix his favorite dinner
  4. massages

I'm with you...I don't like anything mushy. Thank goodness I'll be on my honeymoon on V-Day!!

Here's some other ideas:

  • Tickets to a sporting event or theater
  • Heart-shaped pizza and movie rental
  • Ice skating
  • Home-made dinner (no need for candlelight)
  • Dancing
  • Pics in a photo booth

If either of you aren't really in to V-Day, how about you tell him that you don't want to make a big deal about it. Some guys are relieved, some want to take the chance to be romantic.. Heads up: he might still do something for you because when we tell them "let's not do anything", they think we'll be mad if they don't bring us anything.

I'm kind of stumped because I am kind of sentimental but BF is definitely not (ie, I would love a little photo album of our memories, he would stick it on a shelf and then lose it). He is happy with no V-day recognition at all; I will ... probably at least want to cook a nice dinner.

I'm making my boyfriend a batch of his all time favorite cookies the way he likes them: full of fatty butter and delicious chocolate. I also bought him the cutest tee, but I'm not sure if it'll arrive in time or not.

He bought us onesies. Like, those pajamas that zip up the front and have little feeties to them? Yeah, he bought adult sized ones for us both, because he's awesome like that.

Hehe.

I bought an adult size pair of onesies the other day!  Best investment of my life! It's pink with little reindeer frolicking about.

In response to the OP: I'm pretty boring with what I like to do. Maybe order take out and rent some movies? I don't know, to be honest I usually expect the guy I'm dating to think of something to surprise me with. It's my birthday though, so I expect to be spoiled. ;)

I'm in your boat as well! I want to do something really special, but he just seems terribly uninspired and doesn't care too much. I offered him dinner and he just nodded and said that sounded good. He then assumed he'd be cooking for me as well. Which bothers me, cause I was hoping he'd do something special for me as well. Here's hoping he's keeping a surprise!

Though I want to surprise him too....but he doesn't like sweets too much. I'm kinda stumped at what I can do for him.
