I'm looking for a great gift for Valentine's day (for him). Anyone have any exceptional suggestions? What's the best gift/worst gift you;ve received?
I really appreciate any ideas!
Thanks gang!
Me and my other half have never celebrated Valentines day. But if we did, i would him a scrap book of photos and things from the previous year and then i'd carry on doing every year after that. But i get to lazy because he doesn't care about valentines day :)
umm i usually do small gifts for v-day cause my b'fs b'day is like a month after so he doesnt get a huge present. I think the worst gift I got from him were these stupid under the sea candle holders. I know its the thought but god they were ugly. Good thing he also gave me a minirose bush too that yr. It was dead by summer time. aha wow i suck. but anyway We have a new rule that we just buy each other candy for v-day, its simple and not killer expensive.
Thanks, anyone else? Come male CC'ers! I need your help!
His b-day is 2 days before, my b-day almost 3 weeks after, so I suspect that v-day will get somewhat lost in the b-day shuffle. For V-day, I'm planning on getting a geode, he gets one half and I get the other.
Okay, this sounds a little hokey- but trust me, once you sit down to do this you'll be amazed at what a touching gift it actually is. Last year I wrote out 100 reasons why I love my husband. (got the idea from a newspaper story.) Yeah, it was cheesy- but it really makes you think about all of those little things they do, and brings a whole new appreciation to the relationship. Think simple- some of mine were... "I love you because you'll get up at night and double check the locks if I ask you to", " I love you because you never forget and leave the toilet seat up" "I love you because you never freak out when I do,"...etc. Try it! We've been married 7 1/2 years and it was fun to take the time to do it. Then I made a scroll with all of the reasons listed, so he could unroll it and read them.
That is so sweet
Me and my boyfriend have only been together for a few months So i dont know if it would be appropriate.
I'm getting mine a net flix subscription and a workout bench..and hten some sentamental stuff.
Thanks ladies!
I'm still waiting to hear from the men.. hint hint...
come on guys! Here's the background: We've been together for three years, two of which have been long distance. I am attending grad school in one part of the country, while he is a pilot living in another part. This march, he will be going to Afghanistan for 9 months. He's paid to fly me to his house for a week over valentine's day, and I really want to do something special (I've had such a crazy scedule these past two years that he has been the one making all the trips to see me). The only glitch is that I won't have any time to prepare anything, as I arrive there late on the 13th.
Help a girl out! Now's your chance to say what you really wanted!
Since he is leaving the country for 9 months, why not give him something to look at while he's there? Take some photos of yourself. Depending on what you are comfortable with, you can take sexy photos, or you can just take nice, sweet photos and put them in a frame, book, calendar, etc.
As for Valentine's Day itself, do something together that you will both enjoy and remember for a long time. Maybe do something adventurous like sky diving or bunjee jumping. Or, have an "order in" day where you have your favorite food delivered, have professional message therapists come to your home, and rent your favorite movies.
It all depends on what you both like. :)
Well here's a thought. I also got this idea from a talk show years ago (won't say how many). The idea was to plan a dinner date out with your boyfriend/husband but to have secretly booked a one night stay at a really nice hotel. You pack an overnight bag; toss it in the car and then after dinner announce your "surprise". I had booked a dinner at the restaurant that was directly in the hotel, so the walk to the car was to pick up the overnight bag. Needless to say, my husband was both surprised and very pleased.
Anyway, good luck with your gift ideas. I'm sure with the great suggestions you've already received and most likely more to come - you'll be successful.
My favorite gift that I gave my husband was an old antique key. I told him it was the key to my heart and to keep it with him always.
To this day, its still sits in his wallet with that special memory.
i always give my FH a gift certificate for a massage every year. he loves getting massages so its a good gift for him!
My boyfriend just bought a new suit so I'm going to buy him a cute pocket square and a tie pin. He's a very stylish kind of guy. And he's asked me to play guitar and sing for him... which I don't do for anyone and have never done for him...
You have some pretty good ideas already poasetd, I deff would look into the picture album thing. I also am a little hooked up on what to get my soon to be hubby. He is easy to buy for in one way...like I know his hobbies but I don't want to get him something that I could get him anyother day. Does ur guy have any favorite resturants? Maybe you can take him out to a romantic dinner? Back at home, Have with you some bubbly and candy and a sexy nighty. I know mine would like that part the most.

Since he will be gone.. you could
A. Count up the days he will be gone, and give him a hershey kiss for each day in a cute little box
B. You could buy 36 little cards, and write something different in each one, that way he could open one a week, and have a little something from you...
I still have no clue what I am doing for my boyfriend...
My husband any I's anniversary is exactly one week after V-day, so we usually dont celebrate, ok well, he doesnt, I always do something small, like secretly drop off a card where he works, or I'll bake him some cookies (although this year, since we are both losing weight, maybe not a good idea)--but healthy cookies are fun too, try brown sugar and whole wheat :D. But for our anniversary, we usualy go to one of those lastminute cheap hotel sites (aka hotwire)--pick a major city, and stay are a 5star hotel for one night. We live in luxury for one night and usually hit a museum the second day. I think that spending time together is one of the best gifts.
My BF is a big moovie buff so last year had a movie themed night. I got a basket and got him 3 blueray movies (One of them being out frist date movie). I got little bags of popcorn, and a soda for each of us and put it all in a nice bag for him. Then we had our movie night together.
Me and my boyfriend are into car shows and we love to look at truck magazines together....last year i got him a subscription to his fav truck magazine, so this year, i decided to do the same and get a subscription to a different one he likes. I also got him some choclate candies and his fav sugar cookies. A nice card is always a nice gesture. We are going out for dinner and maybe a movie. I am also making him a customized picture frame with quotes, lips, hearts, sayings, and what not on it...then i will put our picture in it:)
If you are looking for some more sentimental ideas I came across this website with a lot of great ideas http://holidays.lovingyou.com/valentine/
I found once I started reading through the site I had no problem altering an idea so it was perfect for us.
I was originally going to get him a card with a coupon for a specific weekend trip that I knew he would love. But a lot of people told me I shouldn't have to go out and spend so much money - he has money and I know he will be more than willing to pay for his part of the weekend once I suggest it.
Recently he joked that I never plan any of our dates or any special nights out (after he planned a special night for my birthday - what a guy). So I found 12 date ideas that I liked and am going to give him a calendar with clues for every date and I am going to plan a special and unique date around the 14th of every month for a year instead. I am including it in a love package full of little sentimental things, chocolates and some stuff for the bedroom. ![]()
The absolute best Valentine present I ever received was a one hour full body professional massage. YEAH!!!!
Or if money is tight and you want to make it more personal do it yourself. Look through a few websites to get some tips and go for it. Follow it up by drawing him a nice warm bath complete with soft music and candles. Have towels warmed up and towel him dry when he gets out. Pamper him! This is one gift that gives back to you both.
