I'm looking for a great gift for Valentine's day (for him). Anyone have any exceptional suggestions? What's the best gift/worst gift you;ve received?
I really appreciate any ideas!
Thanks gang!
I usually make my boyfriend a card and buy him a video game. I also do something spontaneous...
Once when we were on a Marriage Encounter weekend, my husband of soon to be 37 years wrote to me that the sexiest thing I could wear to bed was a smile! It was sweet, simple, and had no cost whatsoever. That was 20 years ago and the thought of it makes me still smile today! What a gift he is!! Valentine's Day and every day!
As a guy, the best valentine's day gift I ever received was comeing home to my girlfriend wearing fancy lengerie and a shawl. She looked great and knet it, and i loved her for doing it. The rest is probably censored, except I fed her Godiva chocolates after. It was romanticand intimate, I think the way Valentine's day should be:)
Hi everyone,
Thanks to some of the suggestions on here, i finally made up my mind on what I was going to get for my boyfriend. I got 2 magazine subscriptions on his favorite subject (Racing)...so I am sure he will be happy. Specially when he is looking for reading material in the restroom. LOL
He will have plenty now.....![]()
I think your present really depends on how you see Valentines day. Is it a day to celebrate love? a day to remind him that you love him? a day to just buy a present because you have to? a date to create traditions?
Well, for me this year I'm with a fantastic guy :) I feel I'm very lucky and I'm considering that he could be the 'one' hehe hopefuly I'm not jinxing this... anyway, since I felt like this could be a very long relationship, and I went all out for Christmas leting him know I loved him... I decided that this was the time to make traditions. So here's what I did: I grabbed a box, a bit larger than a shoe one and then covered it completly with a collage of photos of us.
I'm not very good with crafts but this was easy to do and I must say the end product was amazing, I'm actually considering stealing it hahaha... anyway, the idea of the box is this: for a year we will put inside the box tickets, letters, menus, candy wrappers, all the things that we did togheter and on the next Valentines day we can open it together and go through the memories of the last year :) hopefully he will like it.
Just in case I went with something traditional also: I got a large transparent jar and filled it with a layer of chocolate kisses (the italian ones seeing as I'm in Italy haha), then a layer of pink gummy hearts, a layer of pink chocolate, another layer of kisses, a layer of red M&M (for this I had to buy 3 bags and take out the red ones heheh), and topped it off with a last layer of kisses :) it looks pretty cool and colorful. And last but not least I'm getting him a gift from Unicef... I think that times like this when we spend so much money on gifts we should also give something back to the people that are really in need :D!
But I think the best gift you can give is spending a wonderful day together, visit a museum or go hiking, go to a park and have a romantic picnic lunch, just have fun together :)
A great pair of sunglasses, some drinks and 2 hours of hot monkey loving!!!
That's what a guy wants for valentines day, keep the damn cards, notes, charms, other useless crap that a girl would want.
You did say it was for a guy right.

Hahahahahahahah! Awesome!
Sounds like the best gift is spending time together. Sometimes the sweet things are the best. Plan a breakfast in bed with heart shaped pancakes or heart shaped eggs, using a cookie cutter. How about a gift of mixed scented oils for a romantic evening of massage? All guys want attention, so he would probably love to be pampered. A B&B with a whirlpool tub is always a nice getaway. Be sure to order food in!
I'm baking my BF conversation heart sugar cookies. And I'm also getting him the latest season on DVD of The Office, his favorite show, and Burberry Weekend cologne, my favorite.
Then I'm getting him a card and inside will be the list I made a couple years ago of the qualities I'm looking for in a potential husband, he has ALL of the qualities I'm looking for, and he knows this, but he's never seen the list. I think it would be special for him to finally see all the reasons I love him, and couldn't live without him ;)
I just bought him a book I thought he'll like, and I hope to go out for dinner (we don't have a lot of 'outings'/dates, and usually we're not alone when we do go out). Most guys probably aren't into the big v-day ordeal and mushy stuff, if you want to get him something I would go with something thoughtful; think of his interests or anything he needs. Also like others mentioned he'll probably really enjoy some sexy time lol.
Our first Valentine's Day I bought 3 bags of Hershey Kisses and hid them throughout his house: in glasses in cupboards way up high (I'm vertically challenged) in all those little nooks and cranny's you eventually wander into during the year. His Valentines kept showing up months after the day, I'm not sure he ever found them all.
Now, I tell him not to stress about this holiday. We cook a meal together at home, I like a flower/plant and a bag of Dove Dark chocolates. He gets homemade chocolate chip cookies and a card.
Valentines Day is our holiday. Men are for the most part not so complicated. Most of them are happy with a beer and to see someone naked.......their someone!

His b-day is 2 days before, my b-day almost 3 weeks after, so I suspect that v-day will get somewhat lost in the b-day shuffle. For V-day, I'm planning on getting a geode, he gets one half and I get the other.
HA. My inconvenient boyfriend has his birthday ON valentines day. *sigh*
He's getting a dictionary (50c at a secondhand book store) wtih every word that reminds me of him highlighted! He also gets a separate birthday present... :)
