Non vegan cravings
So today is day 6 being a vegan (except for a couple messups!) and I know it takes a while. I am sure there is an adjustment period. Today I am having serious cravings, not sure if it's because I am PMS'ing since "that time of the month is coming this weekend". But I gave in bad, coffee with sugar and skim milk, cream cheese bagel, sandwhich with feta cheese. Ugh, the no meat thing is fine, but the cheese which I never thought would be a problem was. So now my head feels stuffy and full unlike the first few days of being vegan my brain felt more clear, and my stomach feels full. Ugh! :(

It happens, no worries!...Good job on making it 6 days! Hope you feel better...Lots of water will flush any stuffiness away.
Do you have those items on hand in the fridge, or did you buy them while you were out? Maybe replacing some of those things in the house will lead you away from 'temptation' haha.
On days like these when you are having cravings, you can always try a substitute like coffee with Silk creamer or soy/rice milk...a bagel with Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese (or peanut butter), and avocado or hummus or something on the sandwich to keep add something creamy and filling.
Thanks I will definitely try to be more prepared. I went out and bought them, so I led myself into temptation, lol. Lately I was making myself lunch which helped a ton, but I wasn't prepared today, and didn't make lunch, so I suffered. Boo!
I'm curious why you decided to be a vegan? Was it for health reasons or animal rights or a combination of both? Something I don't understand is why someone, such as yourself, that still enjoys certain items like cheese feels that they must treat going vegan as an all or nothing venture, especially if it's just for health reasons. Why not eat vegan most of the time but then allow yourself some of your favorite non-vegan items on occassion and in moderation? Sure you won't be able to call yourelf a true "vegan", but that's just a label anyway. The important thing is that you will be eating more healthy and you won't have to completely deprive yourself of items you enjoy.
What I always think when I want cheese or something like it, is why does my subliminal mind have so much control over my standard consciousness? I like to be in control so that always helps me. Another thing that I do is try to analzye why I want it. Do I want it because it's normal/comfortable? You kind of have to change your perceptions. I am a 2 month vegan, so I can't say by any means that I'm this 20 year vegan with experience, but I know what it's like to be going through the transition with such strong cravings. I read in this book that cravings are sparked and only last for 15ish minutes. Therefore, just think of it as mental exercise.
