Anyone have any REALLY easy vegan snack ideas? That are healthy too?
I should also clarify that I do NOT live anywhere near a health food store, I have to do all my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart Supercentre. I know that vegcooking.com has that "I Can't Believe It's Vegan!" list but a lot of it's just junk food. So I was searching for some new ideas.
If you live near a Krogers they have a bunch of stuff in the little organic section they have. At Walmart I'm not sure I know certain chips don't have any animal products and if your looking for healthy they have those baked lays. Fritos and bean dip are yummy too but too many can be unhealthy. The cute little carrots are always a healthy snack for vegans. Let's see what else. Those mixed fruit things are lovely too, or buy a container of like blueberrys and you can pick on those. Hmm... some of those oatmeal snack bars have no animals in them but you'd have to read the labels because I'm not sure which ones do and don't. There are always trail mix and pretzels, but for the pretzels I'd look for the ones with less salt. Then there are also crackers and nuts. I hope I helped. God Bless :)
cut an apple in 8 pieces. place the apple in a bag and add 2 equal (or splenda ect.) packets and a dash of cinnamon and then shake && eat
carrot sticks
banana chips, dried fruit
I like little finger foods I can make ahead of time and take with me to snack on throughout the day...Cheerios, grapes, baby carrots and hummus, mini pizza bagels that I make, 1/2 tofu pups in a blanket, seasoned baked sweet potato wedges, pb & banana sandwiches, berry smoothies & edamame.
dried fruit, wholegrain crackers with soy margarine, bananas, i make and freeze muffins and then defrost in the microwave before i go out, juice... i make a delicious berry mix: a few cups of frozen or fresh berries, some berry juice, lemon juice, 1tbs cornflour and honey (if you use, some don't, i'm not vegan but my son is highly milk/egg allergic so i do a lot of vegan baking) then heat over the stove until it thickens. its delicious with soy yoghurt.. obviously fruit.. sprouts with some dressing (even just olive oil mixed with lemon juice and some plain soy yoghurt) .. nuts and seed mix.
Peel an apple, spray with spray oil, sprinkle with splenda or whatever, and cinnamon, and place between 2 slices of bread and toast it, its like a little apple pie. I use a toasted sandwich press, but if you dont have one of those, then you can prolly get good results in a pan...
that apple sandwich sounds so good!
