6. How do you organize your recipes? I don't, I just remember them. But i'm thinking of compiling them into some sort of notebook, so when i open up my own vegan restaurant i'll have a head start.
7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal? trash. i don't have a garbage disposal, and i don't have enough time for a compost.
8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods...what would they be (don't worry about how you'll cook them)? black beans, baked tofu (italian flavor), and avocado.
9. Fondest food memory from your childhood? Every Sunday my family would go to the local store, the book nook, and get dove chocolate bars for a treat. (obviously i wasn't vegan or lactose intolerant then.)

16. Seitan, tofu, or tempeh? Good ole' tofu. I can't have wheat so seitan is out. And tempeh is too chewy for me.
17. Favorite meal to cook (or time of day to cook)? Probably dinner. I like the coziness of it, at night, a nice warm meal.

4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure? I'm not so adventurous... so nothing has ever failed drastically... I had a pretty boring pasta dish one night.. but that's because I forgot to put in any spices.

6. How do you organize your recipes? I don't at all... I'm a creature of habit so I eat a lot of the same things...veggie burgers, tofurky sandwiches, organic cereals, oatmeal, tofu stirfries, potatoes... things that don't really need recipe organizational skills.

9. Fondest food memory from your childhood? Pizza night every friday. I wasn't vegan then, obviously and it was the only night of the week we were allowed anything remotely junkfood like.

4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure? I made a recipe for barbecue tempeh last year that came out really weird. The sauce can only be described as gummy, and the tempeh chunks all stuck together in a really unappetizing way.

6. How do you organize your recipes? I have a notebook for my own recipes. I usually only use recipes for baking, though.
7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal? Where I live, you can put food scraps in the yard waste collection bin. I keep a bio bag (biodegradable bags) in the freezer, and put all of my scraps in there, then take it out to the bin when it's full.
8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods...what would they be (don't worry about how you'll cook them)? If I'm being practical, I'd bring beans, rice, and cornmeal.
9. Fondest food memory from your childhood? Sitting on the side porch eating watermelon from the garden with my sister. We'd have seed spitting contests, and I'd usually win.

is it difficult to be vegan living on an airbase? do they have good vegan choices at your commissary? i'd love to hear more about that. obviously i don't know too much about what that would be like. i'm really glad you've had good experiences at the commissary!

- Dreena Burton's cornmeal-raspberry pancakes... maybe with Celestial Cream, for those of you who know what it is. Hahah.

Well let's see, I could easilly pick some veggies and hey, if it's an island - there will be coconuts and bananas and lots of tasty things! WOOT! But other than that, I'd bring tempeh, broccoli, and sweet potatoes.

16. Seitan, tofu, or tempeh? Tempeh. It's the healthiest choice in my opinion since it's made with fermented soy. Seitan is good too though - very "chicken-like", and how could any vegan dislike tofu?! Tofu is my friend. x)
