vegans: daily dose of nuts/nut butter
do you guys eat this stuff every day?
how much of it?
do you rely on it for its nutritional value or calories?
I eat some form of nut butter everyday... mainly peanut butter or Peanut Butter & Co's chocolate peanut butter. I eat 1-2 tablespoons of nut butter a day...but it's mainly because I'm addicted to peanut butter and can't go a day without it. I wonder if that's healthy? ![]()
I eat nuts most days than not, too... 1/8-1/4 cup at a time. mainly I eat it for it's nutritional value and/or when I need to up my calorie intake by a good amount but not too hungry to have something big.
same here, usually with me i eat one or the other. usually nut butter is easier.
so i have a story! i ran out of peanut butter at the end of the week, and i spent the next two nights feeling pretty sick and crampy. im thinking i may have formed some kind of dependance on the choloric value or something! BUT it could have been giving blood , because those effects may have taken longer. i don't know
i probably have a reliance on it eitehr way
nuts are SUPER good for you, and combining both nuts and legumes on a daily basis (not necessarily in the same meal!) is a great way for vegans to get their complete protein.
and so tasty!
i don't really enjoy nuts. i LOVE nut butter though. i have peanut butter in my oatmeal almost every morning and i eat alot of soy nut butter sandwiches. soy nut butter is my faveeeee :) i think it's really important to eat them because as a health-concious vegan i don't get alot of fats in other food. i do use olive oil in cooking though.
I eat nuts on occasion. I try to get my protein from less calorie laden food (although I know they're not bad calories!!)
But they certainly are yummy ... mmm
Actually I think I will have peanut butter on whole wheat toast for dinner and some soy milk. mmmmm
I always have two tablespoons of nut butters, plus about an ounce or so of whole nuts, and about six tablespoons of flaxseeds a day.
I love PB! And tahini etc...they're good! I don't take them as a nutritional supplement, I just take them cause they're so so yummy!
I was abit worried I eat too much! I have for example almonds on my cereal for breakfast, tahini sandwich at lunch, and sometimes snack on nuts in the evenings. But judging from other responses that is not too bad. I make a concious effort to vary the types of proteins I eat for at least one meal a day (beans, tofu etc.) but rely on nuts and lovely fatty butters for the major sources! they are just so good....keep me full, taste amazing....mmm.
