I was wondering if there are any other vegans on here. Im new to this site and am pretty excited about it. It's really been helping me really think about everything I eat. I'm also pretty suprised with the amount of vegan foods that are included in the database.

Hi Vanessa! I'm no longer vegan or even vegetarian, but I do have a huge stash of recipes and cookbooks. I'm finding that having at least one vegan meal every day keeps my calorie count low and my nutrition grade high. I'd love to exchange recipes. I post mine on the Recipes Forum.

Hi there,
I am a vegetarian and have considered going vegan but I am a big organic dairy junkie :)
I love the morningstar products and have been eating blt's everyday with the "bacon" by them and fresh tomatoes/lettuce from the garden and ff mayo mmmmm.
I eat a lot of eggplant too, it's good instead of meat because it absorbs a lot of flavors and has a good thick texture.
I have been vegetarian for a couple of years (I cheat once in a blue moon and have a bit of tuna salad or a small bit of grilled chicken). If I eat any kind of red meat it makes me sick now and I used to love it so perhaps it will be the same with dairy eventually :)
Would love to share recipes always looking for good stuff to do with veggies, especially in the summer when you can get so much good fresh stuff :)

Welcome! I try to be vegetarian and do not eat red meat at all. However, I do eat some chicken and (more) fish. I am always looking for new veggie recipes. In the 'recipe' forum you will find several veggie dishes. You will love this site.

Was vegan for 12 years, keep trying to go back, but do I love my good cheese, can't seem to remain vegan once I go back. Maybe someday I'll succed :-)
Hey, i'm a vegetarian/psuedo vegan. I can't eat wheat and a lot
of the premade wheat snacks are also vegan. Sooo, I dont get a lot of
dairy in me but its not really by choice, although I have considered it
a lot lately. If you would like any recipes though I have found
bunches.

Vegans are very healthy creatures, indeed.
But honestly it is very hard to buy even bread at the store without falling into buying something that has egg in it. Or even pasta for that matter. But aside from the small amounts and such, refraining from cheeses, milk, and eggs along with gelatin and all other animal products is not very tough. Which is a wondrous reason why I chose the lifestyle. It makes you feel alive and full of energy.

NEWLY VEGAN!! :)
I recently decided to make the switch from psuedo-vegetarian (seafood - especially sushi - was my weakness) to vegan. I'm in the process of eliminating all the dairy/animal products from my house. I decided to make the switch for 2 main reasons:
-I'm lactose-intolerant and shouldn't be eating dairy anyway
-I'm a big advocate of animal rights, sustainable farming, healthy/peaceful living, etc.
Any tips? Suggestions? Recipes? I'm really excited about this lifestyle change and I want to get involved.
One question - do you go as far as not wearing leather?
P.S. I added you all as friends!

Hi Folks!
I'm not Vegan, but am a pescaterian (I eat fish) who rarely eats eggs but sometimes cooks with them. I do use skim milk occasionally but am working on adding in soy milk and taking cheese and other dairy (high sodium, fat, etc.) out of my diet.
I'd love to hear protein rich/entree recipes for anything not made with beans--I'm allergic to all except (thank goodness!) soybeans, garbanzo beans, and string beans.
Does anybody have any? :-) I've got several tofu recipes, but not much else. What about using seitan or tempeh or MS farms or Boca or other meat substitutes? I tried TVP, but it ('scuse me for sayin' this!) gave me a one-way ticket to the bathroom. :-)
