Vegetarian Burgers, Patties, dogs etc.
Hey All,
I figured since there seem to be a lot of vegetarians or vegetarians on this board it would be a good place to post this.
Are there any good types/brands of meat free protein options that arent really high in fat or calories (I usually look for Patties/products 150 calories or less, ill go higher if the calories are coming from protein)
Right now im rotating between Boca (flame grilled, orig vegan, roasted onion and their new tomato bruchetta one) Quorn (Chik cutlet and tenders) Lightlife (Pepperoni, tofu pups and tex mex) and Mrngstr farms chkn strips, and mushroom lovers)
What else can I throw into my rotation im getting so bored! :) Thanks
I live in Canada so I don't know if you can get these but "Mountain Vegie Burgers" are so tasty. I eat them with salsa and plain yogurt. They are a teeny bit spicy and you can cook or toast them, they're lentilburgers so not meatlike but dense nontheless.
140 cal
1.5 g fat
9 g fibre
9 g protein
22 g carb
try Smart Dogs. 7 grams of protein (a normal hot dog has about 8) and 45 calories (a normal one has about 170)
They're super yummy. :D
And Morningstar's Corn Dogs - 150 calories per corn dog! You can tell that the Smart Dogs aren't really hot dogs - but you cannot tell that these corn dogs aren't, I swear!
i eat quorn products and theyre delicious. low cal low fat high protein and fibre :)
I am not vegetarian but I eat Boca burgers. Very good. Several varieties.
I love Amy's California veggie burgers. I grill them and add them to my salads - they taste so good, they don't need to be hidden inside a bun...
I can't stand the fake soy based meat substitutes anymore... they just seem so processed to me now...
I am all about the Money's Garden Burgers! I don't remember all the ingredients or cals, but they are made with rice and mushrooms and a little (tiny, tiny, so tiny an amount I have to add my own) cheese and some other stuff too. I have them with JD's Spicy BBQ sauce, cheese, relish, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce etc. on a homemade onion bun... OH YEAH!
I second the Morning Star Corn Dogs. They're just as good as the real thing! Boca, Gardenburger and Morning Star burgers are all good. I haven't like the Amy's burgers I've had. Might have been the flavors I had.
I had my first Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean Veggie Burger brand burger last night and was surprised at how good it was. I also have some of their "Buffalo chicken" but haven't tried them yet.
i don't eat alot of fake meat products. they're extremely high in sodium and really processed. i really only eat them when i have no other choice. i prefer tofu or seitan :)
Trader Joes veggie burgers with cuban spices. Yum!
I don't care for the fake meat products.
