How to become vegetarian
Hi! So i am thinking about becoming a vegetarian. Does anyone know of a good book or resource for how to make the transition smoothly. I think recipes would help, and ways to make sure you are getting all of your nutrients. I have heard that many vegetarians don't always get enough nutrients. Thanks for your help!
make sure to take vitamins daily, there are some vitamins you can only get from animal product.
anyway it's great that you want to become vegetarian! :) there are different kinds of vegetarian, so specify which one you mean? there is lacto-ovo vegetarian (eats dairy, eggs, and other animal product like gelatin and things i believe? at least i do) lacto (eats dairy but no eggs)and ovo (eggs no dairy) and vegan (no animal products whatsoever). and some people only eat fish, etc.
I still want to be eat eggs and dairy, so I guess that would be lacto-ovo? And I would probably eat fish, but not sure on that one yet. So I guess that would be pescetarian? If I decided to eat fish
i'm glad to hear you want to become a vegetarian. i've been one for seven years and i'm very healthy. the most important thing is to replace meat with nutritious veggies, not just eliminate it. make sure that you get your protein from dairy, eggs, lentils, peas, chickpeas, white and black beans, soy beans, and all sorts of nuts. being healthy as a vegetarian is much easier than it seems.
except for the protein, make sure you get enough iron and calcium.... which is in broccoli, spinach and most of the beans.
this site helped me a lot:http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/ it's mostly for vegans, but very useful vor ovo-lacto-vegetarians as well.
i wish you luck!

Wow! That site is great! Thank you for sharing that. I didn't realize how normal vegan food can be (you can tell I'm new to this), haha. French toast, brownies, yum yum yum.
There is a restaurant by me that offers mostly vegetarian but also some vegan food that is diner style (chicago diner). But other than some fun vegan burgers and cake I didn't realize there were so many great options out there. I made a vegetarian lunch today which was really good, but that website has really great recipes. Thanks again!
