Isn't it sad!!!  We have the most amazing indian restaurant right down the street and they have some delicious vegetarian options.  Unfortunately, most of them are heavy in cream.  I save it for the occasionally "cheat" meal.  I would eat it everyday if I could get away with it.

Yeah vegan stuff can be really high in calories too. I think it's the oil, coconut milk, alternative milks and meats ect. Some times it's less caloric just to eat the meat option. A fat vegan or fat vegetarian seems like an oxymoron some how, but I get it now.

It's the garbanzo beans!  I made a vegetarian curry the other day for dinner and although there wasn't anything "bad" in it, chopped carrot, chopped tomato, onion, garlic, garbanzo beans and a mess of spices, it weighs in at about 780 calories a serving.  Chick pea flour is used a lot in Indian food, not to mention the beans themselves.  Look them up sometime...I was shocked to say the least.  Also, a lot of Indian recipes use ghee, a clarified butter.  I love Indian food and make it all the time but I've had to make some healthier substitutions to keep it reasonable calorie-wise.
