Vegetarian at Nandos...
In a few days it’s my friend’s birthday and we and a few friends are going to Nandos for lunch [her choice, obviously]. Anyway, I’ve done my research and found out that they have a couple of vegetarian options; the ‘supremo vego burger’ and the ‘vege pita’.
And my question is, has anyone tried either of these? And what were they like?
[because I do have the option of just ordering a salad, but apparently a salad without meat isn’t a substantial meal…]
Green salad on its own isn't a substantial meal....
.... even if you don't eat meat it needs bread, pasta, potatoes, beans, tofu, oil, a boiled egg, .... something to give it some energy value and substance.
Never eaten at Nando's, sorry, but like a lot of these chain places where 'cooking' means 'defrosting' and 'putting in a deep-fat-fryer' I expect the veggie options will be pretty awful, covered in cheese and a total afterthought! Still... it's about celebrating your friend's birthday rather than having a rewarding culinary experience. And there's always dessert.... they tend to be veggie friendly.
I always get a veggie pitta when I go to nandos and they are delicious! Everything is cooked on a massive open grill so it's pretty healthy. Also the pitta just comes with salad on it unless you order cheese as extra, they do amazing sweet potato mash and corn on the cob etc. as sides and any vegetables come with butter on the side so you can decide if you want the extra calories or not. Hope you enjoy!
hey!when i normally go to Nandos i get a veggie pita.and it is really nice!my friend(who isnt a vegetarian) actually prefers it to the chicken burgers.and as hayleyjayde said it is pretty healthy too!
thank you for the replies
I'm still a bit undecided but I might just try the veggie pita.
hehe I'll see how I'm feeling xD
