Vegetarian/Organic/Vegan Stores in NYC area?

I am looking for some new places to shop in and around NYC, any suggestions? Good veggie grocers for example where I can pick up organic food and groceries and learn more about vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.

I have lived in nyc my entire life and also have been a vegetarian that whole time. My favorite health food/vegetarian stores are in the west village: integral yoga on w 11th street, lifethyme on 6th ave. & around 8th st.

eva's health food on 8th st between 5th & 6th ave - not strictly veg but has filling healthy options and is not expensive! the guys that work there are really friendly too.  i love the baked egg white omlette and the shakes.  i agree with kippicat - my favorites are in the west village area too!

lifethyme on 6th has a great grocery selection as well as prepared foods - they list the ingredients for all the prepared foods too which is really helpful.  i'm still a big fan of wholefoods though.
