eveyrthing is fine with me, except i like to eat snacks at work so much! what can i have as low colories snacks druing the day?
Do you have any suggestion?
Many thanks for your attention![]()
Try carrot sticks, nuts and seeds, fruits (can you have fruit, with all those sugars?), crackers like wasa, cereal... Good luck!
Diets don't work, try eating well balanced meals and use the tools provided by CC.

No sugar, oil or rice? What kind of a diet is that? Oil isn't your enemy, and brown rice can be good for you too, unless you are doing a very low carb diet. when you say no sugar, do you mean no refined sugar or no fruit and tomatoes too?
Snacks, I'd go for veggies and hummus, though there is usually some oil in hummus. Yogurt, string cheese, nuts...I'm just not sure I understand the things you've cut out and why, so I'm not sure other than veggies what to suggest!
you should probably avoid refined sugars and processed foods, not sugar and oil all together.
i am vegitarian for over 15 years
i eat blue diamond whole natural almonds. it's high in fat so only about an ounce. and an apple. that's my snack around 9am every day at work, or something comparable. between breakfast (6, 6:30 am) and lunch (11:30am).
I agree with above posters, diet shouldn't be a bad thing, it should just be what you eat. And restricting certain foods completely because they are bad, may be setting yourself up to regain once you stop 'dieting'.
Avoiding white carbs, refined sugars and empty fats (especially sat and trans fats) is good all the time, but you do need fats and sugars (from complex carbs, oils and fruit & veg) for your body to function. I once cut out all sugars completely, no carbs, not fruits, no sweets. I had NO energy and was pretty pissed for the week that I managed (and I didn't lose any weight either).
So, eat lots of fruits and veggies for snacks, and nuts too (healthy trail mix is a pretty good snack, make your own, so you know what's in it), and read labels so you can skip on foods with added sugar. But don't be scared of brown rice, or other great carbs like wheat couscous and beans/peas. And definitely don't cut out all fats, your body does really need them to function.
My previous statement "No sugar, oil or rice? What kind of a diet is that?" sounded snarky. Sorry, after re-reading it, it didn't sound as much like a question as it did in my head. I was really asking What kind of diet, exactly, you were on that restricted those foods in particular; they just seemed to be sort of odd things to restrict with most conventional diets.
Finger foods are good like, grapes, high-fiber cereal, &nd soy beans out of the pod.
I know you're trying to stay away from sugar and oil, but my fav snack for work is green apples and peanut butter. You can always use a natural peanut butter, that's less processed but a tablespoon is worth it for the protein. Its perfect to get you through until dinner. Or you can do a vegan cream cheese (super low fat) and celery.
oh sorry for late reply to you all, ok first thank you very much for your kind advices, by no oil, no sugar, no rice , i meant refined sugars, oh i love fruits and can't stop eating them! ... and by oil, i mean very restricted, at most 1 spoon olive oil per day (this not included oil of nuts)!!! i am not that hard on myself ...! and for rice, well yeah , i restricted rice for only once in a month, or twice,
the problem of brown rice is that they really take long to cook!!! and i did not like the taste that much ,,, do you know any good brand?
what do you think about wild rice mixed with white rice? does this ok?
And about snacks, well , nuts are good but i am sure i will be tired of them, still works for me...
And by the way i need to ask you this also, what does exactly Vegan ppl get their need of protein from? once i saw a TV interview in Oprah from a beautiful Vegan woman she spread a cream of protein on the apple and ate it ! what was that cream? do you have any suggestion?
Many thankssssssssssss![]()
Do you eat dairy?
That 'cream of protein' might be quark, which is a soft, spreadable cream cheese with a pretty neutral taste (goes well with sweet and savoury stuff alike). You can get low fat or fat free versions and those are practically nothing but protein.
Or you can make yourself a similar cream/dip by blending cottage cheese with yogurt or milk.
Of course, all of this is assuming you have access to a fridge at work. If not, another fun snack to consider is baked veggie chips. The ones I know for a fact work are potato (hope you don`t fear it, it`s good for you in moderation!), carrot, red beet, celery root and kale, but maybe you can experiment with others also? I`d just bake a load of trays one day during the weekend (careful, put each veggie kind in a separate tray, as they have different baking times), toss them all together in a big colourful bunch, and preportion them in individual baggies for weekdays. If you season them properly you won`t even need a dip.
i think i would love the idea of veggie chips ... how do you make it? can you breifly explain for me? and how you baked them?
and about the cream of protein is it like Philadelphia cheese spread which have it as low fat, is the quark a brand?
thank you for your help,

In local supermarkets I`ve seen the brand Exquisa, they have plain as well as fruit or dessert (tiramisu, straciatella, cappuccino) flavoured fat free quark (this is not the brand the name of the type of cheese, like cottage/swiss). I`m not sure if Philadelphia make actual quark, but if they have fat free cream cheese that should be good for what you need as well, unless you mind the salty taste it might have.
I`ve just found this guide on how to make quark at home, maybe you can use fat free milk and yogurt and see how it turns out?
Here are some resources for baked veggie chips:
- Baked red beet chips (English text is in orange) - this procedure can be used for any veggies (carrots, potatoes, celery root, radishes etc), only baking times may differ slightly depending on veggie type and slice thickness
- Baked radish chips - about the same as the previous one
- Microwave potato chips and oven kale chips - not sure if other veggie chips would cook similarly in a microwave, I would guess yes but I haven`t tried it yet
- Crispy potato skins - this would be a nice way to use the peels from any veggies you used to make the chips, if you decided to peel them first, but be sure to thoroughly wash the skins; maybe you would prefer to use organic produce to be safe
Enjoy!
fruit, veggies & starchy veggies (potatoes, corn, peas), beans, nuts
maybe you could make a 3 bean chili? Or eggs on toast is pretty well-balanced. I wouldn't stay on that restrictive of a diet for very long though, your missing key nutrients.
Freeze dried fruit is a crispy and delicious snack! And check out the blue diamond almonds? Very filling. Though the flavored ones (which I'd really recommend because theyre DELICIOUS) have added oils.
Get a small rice cooker. It's simple to use and the rice comes out perfect everytime. Just push the button and walk away for about 1/2 hour. I love brown or wild rice. Try adding creamed corn to the rice. It's a different meal in itself.
