Its very expensive. You drink 5 Metabolic drive protein mix shakes daily (100 calories a shake, so thats 500 calories), then mix in ground/milled flax seeds spread out among each shake you drink until you get to around 1400 calories or whatever your body requires. The shakes have zero fat, and the flaxseed and 90%+ healthy fat and very minimal saturated fat. The shakes have 20g protein a piece, so its a very high protein diet, low saturated fat, high healthy fat, and low carb also (not extremely low carb, but under 100g daily). This isnt a ketosis diet. You actually get a ton of fiber and healthy unsaturated fat from the flax seeds. People say an all-liquid diet is a great cleanser.
There is only 1 solid meal allowed per week, and it must be healthy (like lean meat, and some veggies). Other than that its all liquid form. Obviously this isnt a diet for life, and its only advised to be on it for 1 month. But I heard it works great. its not a popular diet yet, not many people have gone on it that I know of. It was developed by a writer over at the testosterone nation website. its for lifters who want to get cut but keep muscle.
Oh, and its recommended to take a fat burner called Biotest Hotrox extreme to burn more fat and keep muscle mass. I ordered the shakes and hotrox a couple days ago. I am excited about going on this diet, and love the idea of not eating any solid food for a whole month.
& definitely. it's only meant for short term. definitely a great kick off.
i, however, couldn't keep the weight off afterward :[[ it was much harder having a lil bit of something- than nothing at all. if i had just one taste, i was too tempted to have more!
esp after the diet. i couldn't control myself. haha.
but good luck to you guys!
but i think the reason why you shouldn't is cuz you might get in the habit of it. & little nibbles here & there add up, you know? but hey if it keeps you more sane, go for it.
some people even modify the diet, having one meal per day. but if you do one meal a day you have to make sure the calculations are right in terms of protein, carbs & cals. that's why it's so easy to just do the shakes. people love diets knowing what to eat, when to eat, & how much. but if you wanna take the extra step to work a little bit harder on what you're having, go for it. some people actually last through the diet that way.
Sounds to me like someone may be marketing a product. I'm just sayin'.
If not, good luck. Bodybuilders do stuff like that for short term results though. Keep that in mind. Detox is one thing, but 28 days is a long time. When your body readjusts, you could really gain weight back quickly.
I lost 7% of body fat in 28 days and only 1 pound of muscle. I've also lost all the cravings for sweets and fatty foods. I look like I did when I was 20 and couldn't be happier.
Now thats losin'
:)
thanks for the heads up...im going to check that one out!
staples - do you have your stats from that month anywhere?
like: bmi/activity/ starting wt and ending wt.
any pics?
I am going to research that for myself!
Did it improve your skin or did it get bad from the fast lost?
just curious.
Ummm... so what happens at the end of 28 days when you go back to eating the way you ate before this fad/crash diet?
=^..^= MOLLY
or maybe you just count your calories for the cw you are at so you dont gain it back like any other calorie counting diet.
The Velocity Diet is not a 'fad' or 'crash' diet. It is for people that are serious about weight loss and want to lose as much fat as possible as fast as possible, safely. It is nothing like no-carb or other crash diets.
Obviously if you return to stuffing your face with junk food you will gain all the weight back.
The velocity diet is nothing but a crash diet - it has nothing to do with making life changes to live a healthy life style. It has nothing to do about serious weight loss, it is just a fad to try to get away from the hard work of eating right and exercising.

Sure you will lose weight, just like those who did the cabbage, grapefruit, coconut, peanut butter, lemonade........
This is not an accurate representation of the Velocity Diet.
First of all, the number of scoops of Metabolic Drive per shake is based on your weight. For a 185 lb. male, approx. 210-240 grams of protein per day will be taken in. Additionally, you take in additional fat through either fish oil, or the recommended Biotest product (which contains greater concentrations of the goodies in fish oil). The flax seeds are your primary fiber source, and have near zero net carbs (due to their being almost all fiber). This is not a long-term diet, but it is quite in line with the numerous studies that show that a very high protein, moderate fat, ultra low carb diet is one of the fastest routes to fat loss, while at the same time being very muscle-sparing. If you're interested in learning more about this SHORT TERM diet, try http://www.t-nation.com , where you can do your own research on what it is and isn't, as well as have a chance to read the online logs of the hundreds of people who have successfully used the Velocity Diet.
I should furthermore point out that it is probably the most DIFFICULT diet you will EVER, EVER attempt. The poster above mentioned that it's something like an easy way out. I would bet money that 99% of people who ATTEMPT the Velocity diet just plain fail within the first week.
