so weird but i'm facing the same thing. was 115.72 to begin with (trying to lose 10 - 15 pounds). i watched what i ate, i jogged and i did some calisthenics.

went down to 112 over a month and then after a weekend at my uncle's villa in the countryside went all the way back up to 115.72!! i know i ate slightly more than usual but i also walked around a lot and stuff. this is soo frustrating!! lol, i'm hoping it's just water retention or TTM.

yes it is water.

your weight will fluctuate throughout the day, after you sleep, after you pee, after you poop, on your period it will change.  It you aren't too big to begin with, may be a smaller change.  For some of us larger people it can fluctuate 10lbs.

Exercise also builds muscle, muscle will want to retain water, muscle also weighs more than fat, so on and so forth.

If you want to beat the bloat drink more water and stop worrying.  Healthy weight loss is long term, not just 3 days. ;)

Water ! Water ! Water! Dont stress. Look forward to steping on the scale in a week b/c you should be right back down and maybe even a few lbs less ;) Listen to Tortoisewins

it's a combination of things that are pissing me off....I have been maintaining in the 140's (I am a 5'7'' 21 y.o male) for the past years, but in recent weeks my weight has been 'creeping up" and I get these random readings from day to day...I used to weigh myself once a week, but started doing daily b/c sometimes my weekly weigh-in was messed up.....

I just don't know what it is or what to do. I look no different or anything and like I said one day I'll be like 149 the next 144, 143, 147, 148, etc. it's crazy...I am used to my weight really staying within the same exact spot for weeks/months....and like I said, it made no sense that I would even gain b/c I jog 8 miles a day and eat the same thing everyday (which is already under)...

I panicked last week and cut to like 1,000 cals but know that that is horrrible so went up to 1500 and figured I'll eat there and exercise 8 miles until it comes down...it seemed to be working for a few days, but now this has me doubting that 1500 is going to help me lose 10 lbs even with the 8 miles.....

this is all very bad b/c I used to have an ED and is really messing with my head....I was fine and feel like I am opening pandora's box again..... as logically as I know I haven't gained 4 lbs overnight or really weight in general (I just don't eat enough and exercise a lot) it still gets to me....

Please don't let the scale mess up your healthy life style.  When your body is ready to drop the weight it will.  As long as you keep up a healthy calorie deficit, weight loss is inevitable.

I am going through the exact same thing right now.  I have been working out like crazy (running 5 miles and weight lifting 5X a week) and eating to keep a 750 - 1000 calorie deficit.  In the past 3 weeks, I've actually gained 1 pound.  I know how my body works though, and soon the weight will start to come off.

Running 8 miles can burn over 800 calories.  Have you considered eating 200 calories more each day, or cutting back to 5 miles?  This may just kick your body into weight loss mode... Good Luck and stay healthy!

This is a really good reason why people shouldn't weigh daily , your weight fluctuates daily and you can't get an accurate reading.  Personally I would switch back to weekly at the very most and always weigh yourself at exactly the same time of day, preferably first thing in the morning before you eat.

2 things. First, what everyone is writing about water weight is dead on correct. Dont' do daily weights, a TON  of things change your weights. go by how you FEEL and if you must, go by inches on the target areas. Weight can go up an down depending on a LOT of factors.

Second - check your scale. Is it old? Is it calibrated? My old scale used to change a lot and it was because the scale was worn out. Even digital ones can get off as they get older. If it has a calibration button or dial, reset it to 0. If it's old, think about getting a newer one.

There are so many things that can affect your body weight - sodium level, water retention in muscles from new workout levels, bowel movements, what you eat, what you drink, even time of day.  Don't worry about fluctuations - they are normal.  And it is true your scale may be malfunctioning.  Try installing new batteries, and make sure it is on a hard surface.

I personally like to weigh every day, but I pay attention to the trendline, the average, not the daily weights.  That helps keep me sane.  If it is bothering you - stop doing it, at least for a while.  Take a break from weighing for a couple of weeks and see where you stand.  Give your body a chance to even itself out and accustom itself to this healthy lifestyle.
