What are some Very VERY VERY Low Calorie Snacks???

Quote  |  Reply
Sometimes I just want to eat something. I am sick of baby carrots. Is there anything I can eat as a snack and not worry about the calories. I just want to chew something, and I am not a fan of gum, it makes me very hungry. So please please please suggest something I can just snack on without too much counting involved :)

Okay

meringue cookies, sugar free jam, better n nut butter, laughing cow with salsa and celery, puffed wheat, egg whites, kiwi, apricots, frozen fat free cool whip, sugar free handi snacks(frozen), brothers all natural potato crisps, freeze dried fruit, low fat cottage cheese and puffed wheat with coco powder, honeycomb cereal

Pickles! you can even find some without any calories or celery or salsa and low cal chips

Ooh, I just love this topic...so good. I hope more people keep commenting...

Here's my contribution...I love air popped popcorn sprayed with 0 cal. butter with heaps of 0 cal salt and vinager topping. One cup of air popped corn is only 30 calories.

Chilled apples slices with a little lime juice and a pack of splenda-- Great on the go snack...place  in a zip lock bag, shake and go.

To whomever it was that mentioned the Gerber Graduates Puffs....

I was at Meijer last night, and thought, why not, I'll try them.  Got the apple cinnamon flavor, and I love them!  Just enough flavor to satisfy, just enough crunch (though they melt in your mouth easily, as they're for toddlers!) to satisfy, and 25 calories in 65 pieces.  At about the size of goldfish crackers, that's a lot less (I'm a goldfish nut, though I haven't had them in a while now, and 55 of those is 140 cals).  Not the most nutritious snack, but they're great when you feel the need to munch.

So, thanks!

these actually are high in iron and many other vitamins! go figure =)

Special k waffles only have 80cals!

also stir fry carrots are very good... mix soy sauce w/ some water and spices and fry it together until carrots are cooked mmmm

and candy canes arent very filling but the sugar free ones have 30 cals and keep your mouth busy for a while! or sucking on a(one) hershys kiss (flavor of your choice)

and i just had cottage chees on toast with pepper & chilli powder it was delicious!

i love mushrooms!  you can dip them in anything low cal, and they are pretty filling and very low cal.  the presliced ones are very easy!

CUCUMBERS!

CUCUMBERS!

This is fruit and veggies but I have been eating celery with Paul Newman's pineapple salsa. Celery is hardly any calories. The salsa is 15 calories for 2 tablespoons which is a lot! It is a great combo and feels almost like chips and salsa. I live on this salsa. Great on potatoes instead of butter too.

I just thought of something i forgot to mention. If you are absolutely craving chocolate and are trying to lay of the candy try some of the instant hot chocolate. It eases the chocolate craving while still being a lot less then the real thing.

Another thing which I love is a hummus tortilla. But instead of the flour tortilla go for one made out of veggies instead- resulting in cutting out yet more calories. I generally just have the tortilla with garlic hummus and just that but you also could put things such as tomatoes or lettuce (experiment until you find something to your taste)

or SF pudding. Also Chewy Granola Bars (only 100 cals a piece) & Vitamuffins & a 1/2 cup of edy's ice cream <<<for those who crave chocolate.

Lettuce and salsa is my favorite thing to eat!!!! People think I'm crazy but I love it because I'm a total volume eater, quantity over quality so it's great.  Very flavorful!

There are so many (maybe even too many!)!

My favorite snack list is on Yummy Diet Food. My personal favorites are: tea, fage yogurt, string cheese, edamame, and cocoa nibs. :)

I used to like to chew on ice until my dentist told me it damages tooth enamel (at the very least) and can cause cracks/fractures of the teeth.  If you have love to chew on ice, you might want to check into this.  I had no idea I was doing damage to my teeth.  It really is too bad 'cause ice makes a great diet "food."

I just went and made a smoothie out of Dannon lite n fit yogurt, any flavor (80 calories)  & 1/8 tsp Crystal Light powder, any flavor.  I have a personal sized blender that I bought at Walmart for less than $20.00 and use on a daily basis.  Fill that up with as much ice as you can get in there, then top off with water.  Blend away.  Someone had mentioned fudge cicles and since I didn't have any this is what I had instead.

If you like a Jamoca shake from Arbys, you can make a "mock" one by using SF chocolate pudding, 2 Tablespoons instant coffee and 2 Tablespoons powdered milk, ice and water.  That is my ultimate snack mode drink. Depending on the brand of pudding you use, you can get this yummy treat for between 75-100 calories.

i like to cut up 4 strawberries and put splenda, cinnamon, and walden farms 0 calorie chocolate sauce and heat them up in the microwave for 20 seconds. It tastes like a wonderous pielike dessert <3. (At only 20 cals!!)

Also steamed broccoli with garlic salt and 0 cal butter spray! Broccoli is so low cal you can have a huuuggeee bowl for 50 cals.

Tofu shirataki noodles! XD, these babies are amazing. 20 cals for a 4 oz serving and take the taste of whatever sauce/marinate you cook them in! Yes they smell like a dead fish when you open them but after you wash and boil them and cook them you dont taste/smell anything weird! I loveee these things with butter and garlic salt.

Hot Culiflower  YUM You can find it by your pickles usually. Same calorie count as pickles.....cottage cheese with apple butter.  I also make my own little pies. Keebler makes individual grahm cracker crust for I think 110 calories. You get 6 of them for 2 dollars. I then mix up a box of sugar free pudding and then split it between the six little crusts it end up being about 150 calories each. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cheesecake and the banana cream! Yum

My favorite low cal snacks are:

1 Laughing Cow Light wedge on 2 small or 1 large celery  - 40 calories

Chocolate flavored Cool Whip (25 cal. 2 TBSP) on cup of berries

Granny Smith Apple dipped in Walden Farms Zero Calorie Caramel Dip

Fat Free Graham Crackers w/ Walden Farms Zero Chocolate and Marshmallow dips (fake smores)

GREAT Breakfast - French Toast & Bacon! :  2 slices Oroweat light 100% whole wheat bread (80 calories), One egg w/ 1 tbsp skim milk for dredging bread through (60 calories), Can't Believe it's Not Butter Spray (0 calories), and Walden Farms pancake syrup (0 calories), Jennie-O Turkey Bacon 2 slices (40 calories) = Very Yummy breakfast for only 180 calories! Woo-hoo!!

If you're looking for pretty much FREE calories and unlimited snacking ability why not look at different spices and flavorings and expand your veggie selection?  I love sliced english cucumbers in apple cider vinegar with salt when I'm looking for something crunchy and salty.   Jicima sliced into shoestrings with lime juice is also good for this.  Try splenda and cinnamon sprinkled onto apple slices if you've got a craving for sweet.  Popcorn is a great vehicle for flavorings.  Chili, taco, parmesan, etc. add nearly no calories to lo-cal popcorn.

Scour the spice aisle and the salad dressing aisle.  They have spritzers now with raspberry vinagrette, etc. that don't have a lot of calories but add lots of flavor.  Spice packets like chili, taco, etc. add loads of flavor for little if any calories and gives you familiar flavors without the calories.  Lemon juice and lime juice are both good flavor boosters.

Laughing Cow light cheese spread is my latest fav for satisfying the need for something creamy.  I add different spices depending on my mood:  dill, lemon pepper, Tony Satcheries Cajun Seasoning, cinnamon & splenda, pumpkin pie spice and splenda ... whatever taste you like.  One wedge is like 40 calories I and goes a long, long way spread on veggies.  Spread on celery or yellow squash slices.  I pick bland-ish tasting vegetables because they're merely the vehicle for the spread or flavor of the spices I'm craving.

I take roast beef slices and spread the Laughing Cow (1 wedge covers 2 slices)  on them and roll them up with a pickle spear in the middle.  Great savory, creamy, nummy treat for like 150 calories.  I usually eat this for one of my smaller meals as it's filling with lots of protien and very, very satisfying.
