What are some Very VERY VERY Low Calorie Snacks???

Quote  |  Reply
Sometimes I just want to eat something. I am sick of baby carrots. Is there anything I can eat as a snack and not worry about the calories. I just want to chew something, and I am not a fan of gum, it makes me very hungry. So please please please suggest something I can just snack on without too much counting involved :)

I forgot.  If you like tea check out all the different flavors there too.  Sometimes a cup of hot tea (iced chai-style in the summer) mid-morning really takes the edge off the "gotta have something" urge while I'm at work.  There are spiced teas, mint, fruit flavored, etc.  lots of options there and ZERO calories.  Even if you add a toss of splenda and a splash of skim milk you're still looking at very few calories.

Multi-grain cheerios.  Great for mindless munching because it fills you up before you can do too much damage to your calorie budget for the day.  Innocent

Oh!

You could get Smart Pop!  I used to eat it all the time before I turned vegan, but now I just get Natural Pop, it bothers me that it's 15 calories more though.... dammit.

But, yeah, Smart Pop is good, also, cry cereal maybe?

There is a great snack list on Yummy Diet Food that I love!! My favorite low calorie snacks are: fage yogurt, clif z bars, string cheese, babybel cheese, cocoa nibs, trail mix, and frozen bananas! :)

water with lemon

chew on ice cubes

OOOhhhh, I have bunches!!

Rice cakes, plain Quaker ones- 35 calories

Egg white omelette with salsa, veggies- 100-200 calories

Tofu shiritaki noodles with warm salsa (like spicy spaghetti!)-less than 100 calories

Canned green beans (in water)- about 70 calories

Blue Bunny sugar free popsicles or fudgsicles- 20-35 per

JELLO!!- One serving is 5 to 10 calories. Love the stuff.

Almonds. In moderation.

Just went to my cupboard and looked for more:

Kamut. I love this taste. It's so odd, but delicious. 50 calories a cup. (it's a cereal btw)

Smart Pop 100 calorie bags

Canned tuna in water- about 150 calories

Edamame- 100 for a reasonable serving. Roast them, it's delicious!

Frozen cranberries, blueberries, strawberries- 60 to 100 for a half cup

I used to make little stir-fries with mushrooms, peppers, tofu, green beans, and water chestnuts, and with the right portions, they were only around 150 calories and really filling! Just measure out what you are eating, always check the serving size. You could have anything in moderation. If you want something that is 100 calories, that's sweet, and you want it to fill you up, it's best to go for two servings of Jello and maybe a rice cake with a little SF jam, than 1/4 of a Poptart.

My refrigerator smells like Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. Darn you husband for getting to eat whatever you want without getting fat!!!

I've wondering about this too. Is there anything other than fruit and veggies?? I feel like that's all I've been eating these days and it's really driving me crazy.

you can eat food but make it sure it has a low calorie..i think it can also lose weight.

I don't see my reply?  I wanted to share my BEST snack....freezing my favorite yogurt.  I have one at night watching TV...it takes forever to eat...you sit and chisle at it with your spoon. It's like sorbet, but healthier!

PICKLE'S vlassic dill spears. 3/4 of one is 5 calories.

also, 1 can of bumble bee tuna chunk lite is 2 servings which comes to 100 cals total.

Instead of salt I like to use "Celery Salt" sprinkled on sliced cucumbers or cooked veggies.... it adds a pleasant 'extra' flavor.  If you are on a low-salt diet you can also  just use "celery seeds".

Thank you for all the awesome low calorie tips!  God Bless.

Whole Fruit Bars: 5 or so flavors.  Most of them are around 70 calories. I'd stay away from the coconut ones. They take a while to eat and are super yummy!

Saeurkraut: I think thats how you spell it? Haha, but 0 zero cals in it! It depends whether you like how it tastes.  I think it's great though!

Sugar-Free Jello: Only 5 cals and superr yummy! Try not to eat to much sugar free things though. They give many people stomach aches and have a laxitave effect.

Seltzer Water: Many people dont like it, but i really cant get enough! It comes in great flavors with 0 cals. You can also add calorie free favorings ( like crystal light) to make it taste even better.

Coke Zero: It speaks for itself. Coke, with zero calories.

Fruits&Veggies!

One big tip I would give would be to freeze a lot of things. When foods are frozen they take much longer to eat.  Even try freezing Cool Whip. It tastes kinda like vanilla ice cream and it's sooooo good.

Original Post by essentials:

if its a chewing kinda thing instead of a hunger need, go for ice! i eat ice constantly when i study. you end up getting water, you dont have to count anything, and you satifiy your mouth's yern to chew.

I heard that chewing ice causes microfissures in your teeth, which can eventually cause them to chip and the enamel to deteriorate. I don't know how much truth is behind that, but just thinking about that has stopped me from chewing ice. Sugar-free popsicles, on the other hand...are delicious. 15 calories each...Grape tomatoes have about a calorie or two each. Beware of Blue Bunny sugar-free, fat-free ice cream...I ate more than the 1/2 cup serving once and woke up in the middle of the night thinking I was going to die. I agree, frozen Cool Whip is yummus. Hummus! 25 calories a tablespoon. Cut a whole wheat pita in half (about 75 calories), spread some hummus inside, and fill'er up with cucumber slices (1/2 cup=8 calories, spinach (1 cup=7 calories), and tomatoes (1/2 cup=20 calories).

i have a hard time finding low cal foods sometimes.  i have interstitial cystitis so my foods are limited.   i cannot have artificial sweeteners, only small amounts of potassium and as little as possible acids.  i am also a very picky eater (i know, thats my own fault...lol).  i have decided that as long as i stay in my 1200 cals a day, i'm happy.  the only "diet" food i have is my dinner.  i eat the "smart ones" dinners and it fills me right up.  i like the grapes idea.  i'll try it and see how it affects my stupid bladder....grrrrrr!  is there anyone else out there with this problem?

BOCA veggie burger (70 calories) spray of Pam on each side (i log in 9 calories) for this) garlic powder and dill
on a (120 calorie) Whole Wheat English Muffin I add a leaf of romaine lettuce (2 calories)

200 Calorie Meal.

the boca burger would be a filling snack in a lettuce wrap i guess.  4 fiber 12 protien.  i like the pam spray to spray on the garlic powder dill weed.

Sometimes I just need to snack...

I loved pickles, the big Boars Head kind in the deli

Celery and carrots with salsa, yum

cucumbers with lime juice and chili powder... sounds weird, but it's great, like the stuff they sell in produce for fruit..

Frozen blueberries are great...grapes are ok frozen...

Fat free greek yogurt with anything in it..cinnamon, pumkin pie spice, apple butter, sunflower seed butter..ect

Love 100 calorie bags of popcorn

Saute squash and eggplant with onions garlic and red peppers alone or on top of spaghetti squash..more meal than snack

Smoothies with ff yogurt and frozen fruit.

Any fresh fruit, apples, oranges, grapes, pears, nectarines or berries.

Roasted corn with chili powder is awesome too, no need for butter.

this is a really good one -- and nobody has really mentioned it - SUNFLOWER SEEDS. they take forever to eat and are perfect to munch on. all salty and good.

my boyfriend and I like the Jim beam BBQ sunflower seeds. they are a great alternative to bbq potato chips, which I really love. these are not exactly low-calorie, but the plain ones are.

the gerber graduates puffs are bangin'. the strawberry apple and apple cinnamon flavors are my favorite. A whole container of them is only 150 cals. I usually carry them around with me to munch on throughout the day.

One wedge of laughing cow cheese with 3 oz. cucumber slices (45 cals.)
