very low hormone levels, yasmin, and its effects

Quote  |  Reply

I've been having alot of problems with my period for about two years now. I wouldn't get it for about half a year, and then for a few months, and then for a really long time again.

So after not getting my period for 10 months, I finally got it and the doctor asked for a blood test on the second day. So I got a blood test. Results showed my hormone levels to be incredibly low (LH hormone was off the charts even, FSH and Estradoil almost minimal) and that I'm like a woman in menapause (I'm 18).

So i was given yasmin, birth control pill, to regulate my cycle and increase my hormone levels. I have to take it for atlaest 6 months. Sucky thing is, its been almost a week, and I'm constantly bloated and I get sudden nausea pangs every once in a while. I felt so nauseas today I coulnt eat anything but a slice of plain white bread.

I read that it's a common side effect, but that it should go away eventually. Is this true? Did the effects go away for anyone else? I really do want to regulate my cycle, and I definetely dont want a risk of osteoperosis, so I'm willing to put up with some side effects, but I really do hope it gets better.

Can anyone relate?

Hey! I was put on Yasmin SEVERAL years ago for an irregular period and I also had the nausea the first week. I believe that it went away after about a week and a half/two weeks. This was about 7 years ago (wow that makes me feel old!). I've been on it ever since and I sincerely love it.

oh thanks! no other wierd side effects for you then? bloating, acne, moodyness, appetite fluctuations?

well if you get those that would be a good thing right? that just means you are riding high on female hormones and that IS normal. haha

im on Yaz, it really helps shave the moody (zero to bitch in 10 seconds) part of being female. bloating is normal during ttom as is excessive hunger whether you are on the pill or not right?

good luck with figuring out your chemistry. i know it can be tricky.

UGH i feel like its puberty all over again.

Pimples, mood swings (although I'm good at controlling them, they still happen), bloating, gas, occasional constipation... its supposed to go away, i know, and the gastrointestinal side effects have decreased a little bit. But I really hope the pimples and mood swings go away too. I hate feeling so upset for no reason. I could, at one time, be thinking of all the things I hate about my life and go on and on for ages, theres so many, yet I could also completely forget them and not have a care in the world for anything but some fun.

I really hope to not gain weight from this either, the binging issue is doing that for me anyway.

I better not turn back into my 10-11 (yes, early puberty) self.

I took this for heavy, painful, long periods... they are now light...last a couple days and are mildly painful compared to the terrible pain i used to have where i couldnt leave home. I haven't gotten pregnant so it does that part. However, you can find more information about side effects here http://www.usdrugrecall.com/yaz-side-effects. html
