WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE
words and music by Pete Seeger
performed by Pete Seeger and Tao Rodriguez-Seeger

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Covered with flowers every one
When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

Remembrance Day Audio

Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance 1987

For our King and our country and the promise of glory
We came from Kingston and Brighton to fight on the front line

Just lads from the farms and boys from the cities
Not meant to be soldiers we lay in the trenches

We'd face the fighting with a smile - or so we said
If only we had known what danger lay ahead

The sky turned to grey as we went into battle
On the fields of Europe young men were fallin'

I'll be back for you someday - it won't be long
If I can just hold on 'til this bloody war is over

The guns will be silent
On Remembrance Day
There'll be no more fighting
On Remembrance Day

By September of '18 Cambrai had fallen
Soon the war would be over and we'd be returnin'

Don't forget me while I'm gone far away
Well it won't be long 'til I'm back there in your arms again

One day soon - I don't know when
You know we'll all be free and the bells of peace will ring again

The time will come for you and me
We'll be goin' home when this bloody war is ended

The guns will be silent
On Remembrance Day
We'll all say a prayer
On Remembrance Day

On Remembrance Day - say a little prayer
On Remembrance Day

Well the guns will be silent
There'll be no more fighting
Oh we'll lay down our weapons
On Remembrance Day

My favorite Remembrance Day song/video.

I remember.

As a veteran I salute all of the other veterans and all of our current military who are serving around the globe.  What you do today will shape the worlds future - stay safe and god bless.

Indeed, thank you to all the veterans!

And all the military serving now! My dad's retired military and current on base civilian, my mom served and currently is an on base civilian, and my sister is currently serving.

So proud and honored to call them family.

Thank you, veterans and active duty military!

To all our fallen and current soldiers where ever they may be

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

To Kathy's man, and to my own, and all the others out there. Thank you.

To all the men and women, who give and have given so much of themselves, to give me more then I will ever realise.

The simple words do not begin to cover the depth of meaning.

Thank you.

To the family and friends of the fallen, the missing and those who serve or have served. Thank you for what you have given to all of us. Blessed be.

Thank you to veterans and active duty servicemen and women.  I hope you all can come home soon.

Keep the Home fires Burning,

While your hearts are yearning,

Through your lads are far away they dream of home.

There's a silver lining, through the dark clouds shining,

Turn the dark cloud inside out, 'til the boys come home.

Also as a veteran (AF), I second dave98z3's sentiments.  Thank you to all the veterans and those presently on active duty in our armed forces.  God bless you and keep you safe, particularly those currently in harm's way.

Thanks for your kind thoughts -- as a Viet Nam Vet, the best way you can thank me and all my buddies from that era is to make sure today's veterans get the respect they deserve.  And above all else, let our people serving today that we think and pray for them everyday.

A Viet Nam Veteran

Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for us!  My dad was in the Navy (WWII) and hubby was in the Navy, also.  I had a cousin killed in Viet Nam (age 19),  several highschool friends also killed in Viet Nam.  A couple of good friends that served in Viet Nam and came back "changed" foreverCry.  My best friend's son is a Marine.  My step-son is about to be deployed to Afganistan.  I'm a proud flag-waver!

Also, my oldest daughter's birthday...Smile

It always does my heart good to see the amount of support today that is provided to our veterans.  I cant tell you how personally proud I am to have served 23 years (I wont tell you all the lovely hot spots I went too...lets just say I lost count). Today I work at the installation where I hung up my boots.

Most of us who served understand the close knit family ties we shared while in the military and the devastating loss (emotionally) when we lose one of our family.  Even today I am extremely somber at the playing of taps - its just one instrument playing a short melody but it signifies soooo much to those who have been at a military funeral (I have been to way too many of them).

My current son in law is in the Army and has already been to IRAQ two times and Afghanistan once in just 6 years.  My daughter was raised around the military way of life so she understands his commitment and what means to serve.

BTW my father also served he was in the Korean war on the Battleship Missouri.   Thank you to EVERYONE who served and the families for their sacrifices.

It always makes me cry, particularly when played at the services of soldiers who have departed way too soon.

Thank you, and your family, for all the sacrifices.
