Victory is mine! [Post your successes]

Quote  |  Reply

Post one of your most recent or most exciting succeses. Whether it's 1.5 lbs lost last week, your longest run, your new size, your new confidence, being able to fit into your favorite jeans, discovering a new recipe, etc. Any achievement you have at all! I think it's fun to read people's most recent successes and it really motivates me to keep going!

In a most recent success, I've finally lost my first 5 pounds. Woohoo!

Reason: 6/20/09: Stickied for a short time, thanks! 7/28/09: Unstickied

I've been slowly loosing weight, mostly by being more active. I injured my knee early last year and went from a runner/biker to a couch potato with an icepack! I gained 10 lbs, but I am happy to report that I've officially lost (and kept off!) 20 lbs since July of last year!! Wooo.  I only have 10 lbs to go before I reach my goal weight.

I bike 20 min./day X 2 (to/from work), run 3X/wk, and swim on the weekends for at least half an hour, and do longer rides (2-3 hrs) on Friday, Sat, and Sun. Biking burns SO many calories, and is low-impact. I'm so happy I was able to resume cycling after my meniscus tear, it's helped me get stronger so I can run again!

My knee is doing much better, and I'm back into training for Ironman Oceanside 70.3 in March next year, and Kona full Ironman before I graduate from law school in 2012. :D

I've been doing this side stepper "skating?" simulation machine at my school gym for several weeks.  Its a fast calorie burner.  Usually I can only do 20 minutes, burning about 350 calories.  At the 20 mark, I am usually driping sweat and ready to sleep of exhaustion :).  Several days ago, I wanted to take a complete leap of faith and see if I could go longer.  I set the goal to 1000 calories, saying I could stop whenever I wanted to.  I hit the 1000 calorie mark in 50 minutes.  It wasn't as hard as I expected, no harder than the 20 minute workout in terms of how exhausted I was after.  I've been doing that goal for 2 days now.  We'll see if I can do it again today!!!

Joined CC 3 weeks ago and joined fireworks challemge closed - Nicole is great for starting this group. In 3 weeks I have lost 5 pounds and going to start walking regularly. Enjoying eating healthy options in food and finding new low fat cake recipes. Today got the yoghurt maker out, to make a low fat yoghurt cake. I am definately more motivated and eating well on the allocated 1500 calories a day. If I choose to have cake or chocolat then thats ok as I balance out my meals to be able to have it.  My belt on my jeans needs doing up another hole. The garden looks great with all the gardening and the house has never been so tidy. Calorie counting is more fun than faddy diets.

Okay here it is. I am 34 years old and the other day my mom told me that my 14 year old sister is now 5'6" and 140 lbs. I am also 5'6" and........(drum roll please)........... I also weigh 140 lbs. Mwa hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah baby! I had to buy a new bathing suit for this summer and I almost died when I had to buy a small.

My favorite skirt, which is a zip up denim skirt - has not fit me since December 08. It fits me perfectly now, though! Of course, it used to be loose on me, so I'm working on that :D.

Thanks so much for the encouragement...I feel great so far; as a matter of fact, this evening we had tuna burgers (late dinner) and rather than eating two as I usually do, I cut back to 1.5, cutting my caloric intake down by nearly 165 calories! And I am full. That's the best part...knowing that my stomach is "shrinking." Laughing

If this keeps up, I'll reach my goal in no time, lol.

Good luck to you, too ~ I know we can both do this...

I weighed in at 183 this morning! I am 5'8 with a starting weight of 260 lbs, loss of 77 pounds! I am so proud of myself Smile

today I broke past 151 and weighed 150.8.  :) awesome.

can't wait to see the 140s

I have lost my weight slowly. 1/2 lb at a time but in 18 months i haven't gained. Celebrate the plodders.

Ran 3.8 miles yesterday!  With hills :)  I was so proud to be able to do that after 9 years of smoking (quit in January) and becoming 30 lbs overweight (have since lost about 9 lbs).

Great job everybody!!!

you sound like you doing very good, congrats!

i am losing again, slowly but surely. surprised how i could have forgotten how great it feels

Victory is mine today on a couple fronts Laughing  Which is good, because I haven't had many victories these last few months.

The first is that I did a 30 mile bike ride (we got lost Embarassed).  I conquered those many hills, and feel great for it.  I still never want to see that route again as long as I live though LOL.

The second 'victory' makes me feel silly (and vain) to admit, but it also makes me feel great.  I've never felt I looked good (I always feel like the ugliest girl in the room).  Lately I've been a lot happier with my appearance even though I haven't really lost any weight, but still have very little confidence in my appearance.

So it was a real shock today while out riding that a passenger in a van leaned out and yelled "DAMN!" when I rode by.  (I've never been whistled at or anything of that sort, ever, so it shocked me big time!)  From the tone I couldn't but help as take it as a complement - which is huge because I usually interpret complements as either sarcastic or rationalize them away (ie, s/he is just being nice).  This time I just grinned and rode off feeling more confident than ever.

Congrats on all the successes everyone!

Mine are:

(1) I'm finally a DOCTOR!!!

(Although not the kind that can save people, or the kind you'd want on a plane during a crisis or anything useful to anyone really.)

(2) I also ran 5 miles today in 90 degree weather instead of chilling on a patio and drinking beers with my friends. I joined them after the run.

Actually, now that I think about it, resisting beer and making myself run in the hot humid yuck today was almost as difficult as getting through grad school. Go me!

congrats to every one of your successes!

i feel good too.

no going over cals for several days

weight goes slowely down

walked as much as possible during the last days

no junk food (or drinks)

spent time in the nature

so i feel full of eergy and nicely tired at the same time if you know what i mean.)

Congrats to everyone with their successes!

Finally a place I'm allowed to brag lol

I lost all my baby weight - 22 pounds plus an extra 9 pounds in one week shy of a year of trying. Looking back it seemed slow going at the time, a pound, sometimes half a pound a fortnight/month with a couple of annoying plateaus here and there. I'm proof that even if you don't lose all your post baby weight in the first 9 months to a year as some studies say you should, you can still take longer and get there eventually.

It can be easier I think when you have a VERY active toddler that keeps you relatively fit when you have to chase them around everywhere and find yourself getting up and down all day with cleaning up the bombsites they create! So..Bubs was 16 months when I got to pre-preggo weight. Had it been even longer, so what... so long as I got there eventually right, and I did! Yahhhh me! :)

Today was a good day.  I tried on a pair of Levis with the buttons that I haven't worn in years.  They were loose through the hips and butt and waist.  I had to hitch them up all day long - what a treat!

I ran 5 miles today for the first time!

Went shopping n was able to find my size in every shop I visited!!! First time in my whole life that I didn't get awfully frustrated n actually enjoyed the trip!

After reaching my goal of dropping from 280lbs to 199lbs, I set a new goal of logging 1000 miles on my bicycle before winter. After only 7 weeks, I surpassed the 500 mile mark on my ride yesterday. In addition to the riding, I have dropped another 7lbs to 192.
