Hi. My name is Rachel. I live in Virginia Beach. I weigh about 165 (size 11/13) right now and I'd really like to get down to about 135 (sz 9). I was that size before and I felt so great and looked great. Now I have no energy, and none of my clothes fit. I am always tired. I feel disgusting. It's not just about weight though. I really want to be healthy too. I eat a lot of organic foods and I'm mostly vegan, although it is hard to find vegan processed foods and that is where my weakness lies. I have two dogs and they are both crazy so it's impossible to walk them together, but I've recently started taking out one of them to go running with me. I am so out of shape I almost can't even run at all. I run a few steps and then walk for a while, and I can only keep this up for about 30 minutes at a time.
I'm also just getting over a really bad chocolate addiction. I started doing this online calorie count thing to see if maybe the reason I can't lose any weight is because I'm eating a whole lot more calories than it feels like, but so far I've only been eating about 1100 calories a day. I figured it would be up around 2000 and I would have to cut down from that, but the amount of calories I eat on a regular basis is about 200 less than what the calorie-count calculator said I would need to eat to lose weight! So what the heck am I supposed to do..... I will need to cut back to around 900 just to lose anything, and that is just ridiculous..... I guess that's a sign that I really really need to get more active.... Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce myself.
1100 isn't enough for a grown woman to sustain her body on, especially if you are adding exercise.
I'm 5'6" and 157. I eat no less than 1400 a day and 1600 on the days that I exercise. Ideally you should have about a 500 calorie deficit each day to lose 1 pound per week.
Remember, it took some time to put the weight on and it will take some time to get it off. The number one priority should be to take the weight off in a healthy way that you can sustain for the rest of your life.
A 900 to 1100 calorie "diet" isn't something that one maintains in the long term easily. Try plugging your stats into the calculator again with a moderate to light activity level.
That's what I don't understand. I feel stuffed all day and I am always full, yet according to the calorie counter I'm only eating about 1100 calories a day- this is NOT on a diet. This is just what I eat. There has to be a mistake somewhere. I even started doubling up on servings that I would add to the counter just in case I ate more than I thought, and it made it up to I think about 1400 doing that. So I guess instead of cutting calories, I should just really beef up the exercise I'm doing (which right now is almost nil). I guess I just have really bad metabolism.
