Virus from CC?
Every day at some point when I am on cc a new page pops up from "virus doctor" and claims I'm infected. If I don't log onto cc I never see this page. Of course I don't click anything immediately sign off and run my anti programs but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? or if its just a coincidence that is happens when I am on CC?
I didn't have it pop up when I was on CC, but I have seen the same thing three times in the last two days. Whatever you do, don't click to download their "patch" to fix your problems...that's how they get in. This must be the latest version of it and they have it attached to a lot of different sites because it wasn't the same site in any of the three cases I've had it pop up.
I got it also -- but I think I might have been on Facebook at the time.
I got it too. From this site, I think (though I usually have many tabs open). Annoying, isn't it?
Its so freaking annoying! I didn't think about the other tabs I had open....dam it could be anything.
I have had that too...several times in a few days....I just hit "control, ALT, and Delete" at the same time and pull up my "task manager" and close everything....just to be safe. (that is what my hubby said to do)It sure is annoying and alarming though! I had it here on cc and on a yahoo "entertainment' page about the Emmy's....so I guess it is everywhere.
3x in the past cpl days on this site. 1st time i ran my security prog. nothing, thankfully and i didn't download their thing thank god. last 2 times ive ignored.. i feel a bit uneasy doing this but it seems like its a problem for a few of us... and when i scanned the system nothing was wrong.. so i guess i will continue to ignore it?
very annoying.
i too keep several tabs open at once but i had it come uo the 3x on this site.
hope it stops soon!
Me too!!! I thought it was from CC but I could have had other tabs open. I never pay attention to that. It is super annoying and prompted me to update my virus thingy and get an antispyware thingy... everything was clean but still!
I haven't had it pop on on CC, but it's getting past my pop-up blocker in all kinds of places. Just do a quick Alt f4 to make it disappear. It seems to begin to load all your files very fast if you click anywhere on the ad, including the X. The first few times I saw it I ran my One Care and another virus protection program. Neither found any virus. These people should be coated with honey and staked out on an anthill, they are so annoying.
I had it, too, about a month ago, the faux doctor virus you described. I believe I got it in CC, and then it started popping up no matter what screen I was in. Totally messed up my computer. I Googled it and got the info that it was this faux thing, but if you didn't catch it ASAP, you could have real problems. After a few days, I couldn't even get into my computer. My brother had to strip my computer and re-install operating system and everything else. I lost some very special photos that I hadn't transferred to my external drive. I also got a new security system and haven't had a problem since then.
Hi All,
Apologies for this rogue ad - we are attempting to track it down and remove it. If you are able to capture it with a screenshot, we would appreciate it if you would email this to us at team@calorie-count.com
Thanks!
Erik
Thanks Erik-
But how does one capture it with a screen shot? Sorry I am challenged when it comes to computer stuff.
Sorry Pam - should have included instructions to do a screenshot with my original post. Here are instructions to save one with Microsoft Windows.
