virus + excercise = :-(
If you feel like you can do it, then it is probably ok. Do something light like a stationary bike and stay hydrated!!
Good luck!!
Well, I remember when I was doing personal training, my trainer told me it really takes 10 days for you to notice a decrease in muscle (this isn't to say that after not excercise for 5 days you won't notice...you will!). I don't know how true this is...but it's a comforting fact either way :) haha
I've already gone periods during breaks at home where I don't do a full on gym exercise session for up to a week...and I really don't notice much difference in muscle loss or anything.
Muscles have a pretty good memory, chances are when you do feel well enough to get back to the gym, it may be a little slow going the first couple of days, but you should bounce back pretty quickly. Just make sure not to jump back into your same routine right away...do a lighter version. If this exhausts and kills you the day after, you might need to rest some more still.
I'm not sure when it would be okay to exercise again...I'd say that'a s personal decision really. Whenever you feel up to it. Don't force it if you feel tired or fatigued or sick still.
Overall, I wouldn't be too worried about a virus slowly you down much at all in the long run :)
