Visible Results, when do you notice them?

Quote  |  Reply
In my experience, it usually takes my body about three weeks to "react" to whatever I'm doing.  If my eating is out of control, which it has been during the last year, I don't immediately see a bigger me, and if I'm exercising and eating healthy, I don't see any results for about three weeks.  Does anyone else know at what point they start to see results?  I'm thinking I've got to stick to this for three weeks before I will really see any results....ARGH.....and some of you have been doing this for months!  I am so impressed! (btw, this is going to be a lifestyle change, but I am in the weight loss phase first, then it will be maintain.)

hang in there (lol)......it took me 2 to 3 weeks before I noticed changes.....but the scale whispered the results to me (lol)!
do you mean results you can see, like your pants fitting looser? or do you mean people coming up to you and telling you that you look fabulous?

I noticed within a couple weeks that my pants fit much better.
i don't have a good answer.. my weight has dropped, i'm down **almost** 2 pant sizes.. but when i look in the mirror i see the same old fat me.. and no one has said anything to me about my weight being down.. so.. i guess i'm not really answering at all eh?  i did notice my pant size go down about 3 weeks into it though
It took until I'd lost about my first ten pounds that anyone other than my mother (who notices if I've lost or gained two pounds lol) said anything.  I've been keen to tell people about my new lifestyle, because I have quite a few friends who I think could benefit from it as well, so they tend not to say anything as they know that I know.  That could just be a male thing, too.

I noticed all the health benefits long before I noticed the physical weight loss - which were more to do with healthy eating and more exercise, rather than actually being lighter.
I'm down about 18 pounds in the last 6 weeks and so far- no one has said anything- which is kind of frusterating- but then- no one made any mention when I gained weight either!  Last time I lost 80 pounds- the clients at the vet where I work- a few that knew me well mentioned how great I was looking and when my scrubs started getting baggy- they noticed.... I know I have to have patience- my co-workers see that I bring my lunch everyday now instead of buying and they are luckily pretty supportive- except today two of them were eating that ice-cream- Dibs- in front of me.
Maybe it is just wishful thinking projected onto my thighs but I have started to think I look a little smaller in my lower thighs...not my upper...although my jeans are not so tight now so I guess I am not delusional. I have been here about three weeks...
It took about 4 weeks for my family to notice that I had begun to lose weight.......It seemed that they were almost afraid to say anything at first....like if they did.....the weight might hop back on me......but now my husband freely and often ask about my weight loss.....offer to cook me healthy meals......look for good tasting/low cal./low fat foods......and now waiting for me weight loss to 299 lbs. so that we can celebrate about the loss........of course my oldest daughter noticed almost as soon as I noticed the change in my body (lol).
I put a note on my weight log the day I actually felt like I was feeling a difference - I started out at here @ 148 on 1/11 and 2/4  @ 142.5 is when I felt like I was actually beginning to see changes. So, that's just over 3 weeks! I'm now at my first goal and have 6 lbs to go till my final goal! May 1st!
Choco, I actually meant results that YOU personally can tell, if it's looking in the mirror, or seeing a difference in how your clothes feel/fit....I have had people tell me that I look like I've lost weight when in fact I've gained, so I don't pay any attention to what others are saying! LOL.....
not too long after i started eating better and running more i thought i noticed a change, but the scale didn't register it. now, almost two months into it i can see it in my face and my flatter tummy and i swear my hips look smaller, but i haven't measured in about two weeks, so i don't know. i went home last weekend and saw my sister (first time since christmas) and she noticed a difference. my grandmother also asked if i was eating anything i was getting so skinny. it was nice, but she's said that ever since i left home, so i don't put much stock in it. i also felt results pretty soon after i started (feeling better from eating better and getting exercise) but i guess it's taken about two months for anyone else to notice.
I didn't notice until my pants got bigger and I was able to suck it up and zip pants I hadn't worn in ages.  As for friends, I didn't see a couple of friends for about 2-1/2 months and they both noticed right away that I had lost some weight...
I am hoping that by April 7th, 2006 (will be a month since I started) that I will see a real difference. I want to zip up my pants without gasping for air. I think that will take a month for me. I have lost 12 pounds...but no real differences in appearance. That is to be expected when one needs to lose over 100 pounds.
I noticed after a month.  things were going down, flatter stomach.  now in feb I started doing 10 mins of arms and 10 mins of abs everyday.  in 2 weeks I noticed a difference in my arms

I am down 28.5 pounds.  I just recently started to notice my butt was disappearing ( I have a large one).  The biggest thing i can suggest is to measure yourself.  This was huge for me not to get discouraged.  To date I have lost 50 inches of my entire body.  6 inches off each of my thighs alone! and 6 inches off my waist.  That is where I am able to tell.  Otherwise I would still think I looked the same when i looked in the mirror.
wow tamara!!!! that is awesome!!!! what are you doing to lose?

Eat less move more!  I refuse to do anymore diets.  "Diets" to me are restricting you from having something.  This is a form of punishment.  I don't want to be punished for the rest of my life.  My calorie counter says i should eat 1995 calories a day.  I find this to be litterally too much food.  I stick with about 1500.  I still have chocolate (Cadbury Thins are my new best friend) and ocassionally have fast food.

Other than that, I excercise 6 days a week.  In those 6 days i mix it up with swimming, yoga, eliptical, weights.  That's it.  I am in the gym at 6am......if i'm not......i find other things to fill up my time.  I figure i am up anyway....why not do something productive!

That's it!

(By the way.....i was 285 when i started and am down to 256.5)
great job girl!!!
Before pics are a must..I dont have any as I was to ashamed of myself..but I wish I had. Thats the fastest and most dramatic way for YOU to tell as its a slow process that its hard for the "loser" to see it in themselves visually.
I don't trust myself to notice weight changes-- I often think I'm losing or gaining when I'm not :-P .  I've learned not to declare my weight changed until I see a difference on the scale or tape measure that lasts a week or more (so I'm not fooled by the normal daily fluctuations).
